Might be a good skill training LOL.
See if you tweak to a finer grind or dose higher, can you recover some of it?
*
Cannot recover from stale beans bro biggrin.gif

No more CO2. No tiger stripes. No crema. The lighter ends high notes all gone.

You could still do reasonable for latte. This has mid end nutmeg...blending it with lintong now...

bro, wouldn't it be a bit of a waste, blending stale beans with your lintong?!
the results will be neither here nor there, rite?! ... besides cold brew, maybe ice coffee would be a reasonable way to finish the stale beans?
*
It's not yet that bad...I can still get some flavors out. The lintong is OK not fantastic. Just experimenting...

As it turns out...not that great for an espresso...just OK lah for latte.

Very lazy to break out and set up my other grinder for cold brew biggrin.gif

Anyone here uses the moka pot for their coffee? I usually use this+a hand frother.
I seldom get crema regardless of the coffee powder size. Is this usual?
*
Yes.

How you brew it? What about the grind size?
Never buy beans from retail cafe, if you wanted to buy from them. Ask them first whether the beans is fresh or not and when the stock actually arrive.

Espresso bro.

For VBM check out www.cuppa.com.my but all those coffee machine is overpriced in Malaysia and also coffee grinder.
Opening a cafe?
There's a risk for buying machines from overseas and it is not cheap. What if something happened to the machine? No one is going to fix it for you, there is not spare part in Malaysia everything will be send from China, means it doesn't worth the price.
If possible you can get from Thailand/Singapore nearer and sometimes cheaper and less worried about warranty.
*
The Oscar and Pavoni levers, K3, seem to be cheaper here at current exchange rates!

Someone give me quotation 3.5k. That is 1.5k over priced. It would be better i use that 1.5k get air ticket go for holidays in Australia & bought in back at the same time...
*
I may have thought wrongly K3 at 2.5k. Sorry for misinformation. Machine prices I just saw today seems OK.

This is probably obsolete long ago price...I've not check prices for a long time now. So 3.5K maybe the going rate...
Attached Image

FWIW...there is a used Wega on mudah for RM2500. It is a rebranded compak, looks like K3 doser. I don't think it's a good price...but then again we're in Malaysia...

Yea, that machine cost about 1.6k usd.. in exchange about 2.4k SGD when that guy first purchased.

And yea the oscar is cheaper in Malaysia, but not really a good machine. Get the breville double boiler is better. biggrin.gif
*
Yes. The BDB is really fantastic. The few concerns are reliability and steam power.

The Oscar is just a tad more than a Silvia, making it a no brainer entry machine for now.

Awaiting the "decent espresso machine", this could "rule" the entry level if they can keep to their promises.

I'd go for a mid end machine...or something more personal.

a double boiler with concerns with it's steam power?!? .. in that case, i wouldn't put the word "fantastic" about the double boiler on the same sentence with it's doubtful steam power.. don't you know this is what a double boiler is for? (1 for brewing and 1 for steaming?).. of course, the breville's boiler is very puny small in size to be considered "serious" for consistency.. despite it's swanky chassis design..

all in all, entry or otherwise.. it all boils down to how many cups are you extracting before the machine needs to buffer in order to be consistent..
*
As a home consumer machine it really is fantastic, don't you think so?

For some of us who can regularly steam 6oz in 10-15 sec, this thing is really "slow" at least 2-3x longer.

And you do know hx can also brew and steam at the same time right? So I'd say no, a DB is not for this purpose wink.gif

fantastic?!?... no and far off.. no offense, it's just eye-candy, lots of electronics an a dumbass way to spend money..

let me understand you correctly.. are you saying that a double boiler if not for the purpose of brewing and steaming independently(at the same time)?
*
plastic fantastic biggrin.gif It is very temp stable...a review from HB http://www.home-barista.com/breville-dual-...0xl-review.html

I missed out one word...I should say a DB is not ONLY for this purpose. A PID DB has its pros and cons...but I prefer HX any day.

Often in Melbourne due to work. Been eyeing them for quite some time. They had a sale, AUD2,799.00 for a Giotto premium v3. HX. (Who wouldn't want an R58 but moolah is needed for other things 😅😅😅).

It was a war between Bezzera and Rocket. Rocket won.
*
Well...I'd go for Bezzera for its cool snake logo biggrin.gif

Thanks for the info and picture.

Machines and grinders been sent to Malaysia before, I understand no issues. May be taxed I think, just factor that in.
