I'll usually just call it "French Press Coffee" (more specific) or "steeped coffee" (more generic).

Coffee & Art Fringe Festival Asia 2013
Date: 28 - 29 September
Venue: Publika

P.S: Don't ask me why Nescafe logo is there... but as far as I know the organizer has zero budget for this event and relies entirely on sponsorships.

Degayo coffee will be in Food & Hotel Malaysia trade show at KL convention center next week (17th - 20th September). I might drop by to buy some Tobing Estate beans (West Java). If I'm not mistaken, they are the only distributor of Ditting grinders in Malaysia.

GeForceX, brewing a good cup of coffee will need to consider quite a few things, it also can be very personal as everyone has their own preference when it comes to coffee taste.

Just a rough guide:
1) Grind: Use freshly ground coffee with the correct grind size (based on what coffee maker you are using)

2) Water: filtered water. But not softened water unless you are using espresso machine.

3) Temperature: 90~95 (But you can play around with it with slightly lower temperature depends on the beans)

4) Coffee-to-water ratio: Starts with 60gm coffee to 1 litre water (SCAE gold cup ratio), from there you add or minus the grammage based on your own personal preference and what type of coffee beans. For example, start with 15g coffee to 250g water (=250ml).

5) Brewing time: different coffee makers and grind size has different optimum brewing time. Eg: about 4 min for french press.

Google is your best friend~

If you are serious about learning more about coffee, and found that Google information is too overwhelming, can go attend this coming coffee workshop:
https://www.facebook.com/events/651802418173012/

It was taught by SCAE certified barista trainer.

Note: SCAE = Speciality coffee Association of Europe.

Tried Joo Faa b4 their 'white coffee' means no sugar or magerine roast.
Very dark roast and burning taste very heavy. Nowhere near average. shakehead.gif
