do you know whether the extra 1 year warranty is for every1 or just their members? wouldn't mind paying rm999 for the extra 1 year warranty...

whenever you buy things from senq, you will be automatic register with their membership (need to pay rm12 if not mistaken)

Apple is running a different business model. How can they make money while the prices for the iPad is relatively low (although still not exactly cheap)? The iPad is currently having a 23-32% margin. How do they do it?
-Apple has their own retail channel (online as well as brick-and-mortar shops) and their own after sales service channels as well, therefore cutting out any middlemen costs. Middlemen generally extract a 30-40% markup. The biggest cost saver is here.
-Apple gets HUGE discounts on parts due to the volume Apple is able to commit to suppliers.
-Even if there are 3rd party retailers selling iDevices, due to Apple's popularity, Apple is able to nego for lower middlemen costs/markups. Bear in mind 3rd party retailers only sell a tiny percentage of Apple's products too.
-Apple's costs are further offset by revenue from their App Store. Apple takes 30% of every app sold on the App Store.

Very good point. Google only takes 5% of app sales as announced at Google I/O 2011. Also, keep in mind again that we're buying the product from ASUS, not Google. There is a huge numbers of middlemen between the content provider (Google) and the consumer. ASUS is the manufacturer but you also need to account for the logistics, distributors, supply chain, resellers, marcomm...all adds to the price.

The extra one year cover what? labour or parts? :-)

have to wait for someone go buy from SenQ and enquire all about the warranty and share the info here,
then only we will know.

Don't think the official retailers will be selling the 8GB version. Your best bet will be the "private resellers" found in the forums here or lelong, ebay, etc.
