Good Read, and that reminds me that some wrap their extractor to keep them hot for faster release of the exhaust gas.....

QUOTE(alexng2208 @ Nov 29 2011, 10:48 AM) Talking about silent mufflers, IF i would to leave everything stock in front of the OEM Mufflers, then change it to a S-flow or something like an S-flow (which is quietest?), i can expect nearly no diff in sound? OE mufflers are real quiet one. Even S flow will be more noisy..... |

QUOTE(ben3085 @ Nov 29 2011, 02:10 PM) What is the cost of doing the checking and can it detect a faulty MAF also or not? Do you know what is the price of a new O2 sensor, need to standby $$$. Sorry, do not know the prices, but as far as I know some workshop will scan free for you if they do the repairs.Of course if you just go for scan they will charge.....Scanning the ECU, all faults that can be detected by the ECU will show. Added on November 29, 2011, 6:06 pm QUOTE(shinjite @ Nov 29 2011, 01:47 PM) S-flow is noisier than OEM ones for sure Even my noisy exhaust when cruising is not bad, but slight acceleration the low bass sound will comeBut for cruising and all, close to no sound for S-flows as well, so yeah no worries ^^ This post has been edited by vr2turbo: Nov 29 2011, 06:06 PM |

QUOTE(alexng2208 @ Dec 2 2011, 11:08 AM) Your normal muffler has, therefore change to S flow also should have...Added on December 2, 2011, 10:15 pm QUOTE(mADmAN @ Dec 2 2011, 03:48 PM) Spot on..... Added on December 2, 2011, 10:18 pm QUOTE(mADmAN @ Dec 2 2011, 03:58 PM) well...getting the pipe size correct is one thing.. dont la go put 3" pipes on ur 1.5 3" for 1.5L, my 2.0 turbo also on 2.5" only...... alot of diff factors from pipe size... pipe bends, type of bends, muffler, centre box/bullet... amount of centre box, bullet etc could contribute to it. best to find another car which has the same engine and find out if their exhaust setup has benefitted them Fuyoh! If changing only rear muffler to straight through, should not affect low and mid, but high will improve.

QUOTE(Jajay Chong Hon Keat @ Dec 5 2011, 12:31 AM) Lolx... I have posted wrong topic about the wiper here ady~ Paiseh >< Hmmm... the outlet of muffler means the hole of the muffler? But if the inlet not same size as the pipe...then how? Outlet no difference whether big or small for the muffler. If inlet and pipe is off different size they have to expand one side and make the other side smaller to match then weld....Added on December 5, 2011, 8:37 am QUOTE(samwongjyhhorng @ Dec 5 2011, 07:52 AM) Depends where? Normally large hole can hear already. Smaller leaks some test by feel as you can actually feel it coming out in a stream of strong air.....Added on December 5, 2011, 8:39 am QUOTE(alexng2208 @ Dec 5 2011, 08:19 AM) however, i have 2 questions to seek sifu wisdom: Doing the rest is for higher end results and faster removal of exhaust from the whole system.1) after the extractor mod, need i change the rest too? (a full set up on another car yields only 2 more hp with mid -> rear pipes and mufflers changed) 2) anyhow to silent the extractor sound? wrapping or coating? Extractor also noisy? Can try thermal wrap..... This post has been edited by vr2turbo: Dec 5 2011, 08:39 AM |

Oh! after whole system done up, less speed? But usually at top end, fully open is best, unless engine not enough power, probably need to change back something.....Seems another member in ZTH had the same problem.....

QUOTE(samwongjyhhorng @ Dec 5 2011, 11:42 AM) change bec wat?u means change to stock?wat the member in ZTH experience?i full throttle and the rpm will climb, but around 3sec then it will drop bec lo You mention only with extractor you could hit 200kmh, but after whole system only 185kmh, so with full system is slower.Probably the mid or rear box robbing it's power.... |

Can also look for the pressure activate valve muffler like the one in the FD2R. Low end works as normal muffler, and when pressure is high it opens and works like straight through muffler.....

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Dec 7 2011, 02:42 PM) stock materials are either cast iron (mostly) or steel. the main reason why stock extractors wont heat up the engine bay so much is coz they have heatshields on them... u will rarely see a bare stock extractor (unless pureposely removed which imho, is stupid as it works well and even looks better... stock extractors are fugly...) Exactly, original is cast iron and is very heavy...... aftermarket extractors wont be able to fit under those heatshields and hence are usually exposed and will dissipate the heat freely into the engine bay...so either ceramic coat (expensive) it or thermal wrap (cheap) it if ur worried. but if u put a bare cast iron header vs steel header.. the difference in heat is negligible in regards to engine bay heat.... Added on December 7, 2011, 3:57 pm QUOTE(Jajay Chong Hon Keat @ Dec 7 2011, 02:53 PM) Now, I know you are very new....ha! ha! The hose link is for use in cold countries, where the air intake is switch to draw hot air from the exhaust......Here we try as much as possible to draw cold air, as we call CIA...... How come you already have it for 2 years already?Added on December 8, 2011, 1:19 amCeramic coat the extractor or thermal wrap the extractor is better? And normally for ceramic, what is the price? Price I don't know but have seen many with thermal wrap. Maybe ceramic more expensive or maybe new.... |

My turbo max at 190kmh only. I was given a speed cut device by my friend but I refuse to fit it as 190kmh already fast enough. Whoever wants to overtake, please do so......anyway, I very seldom hit that speed, every where also jam nowadays, so is better to have pick up speed for town driving....

QUOTE(wandzul @ Dec 9 2011, 12:20 AM) bro eventhough you limit your car at 190kmh, i'm sure that you can outrun cars anytime you want to.. because of your 'siput sedut' there Yup, that is why I mention I rather have the low end pick up rather then high speed. Nowadays hardly have road to hit that speed....as for my NA car, AT some more, i need slightly higher top end to do so, i suppose.. |
