I remember seeing 3 knobs on each Edifier Studio (one for volume, treble and bass).

If I purchase one of these studio speakers, and increase the treble knob, wouldn't that make it similar to Edifier M3300 (bright sound)?

It would be having best of both world while having superior low-mid-high sound quality + bright sound for treble lovers.
*

Unfortunately Edifier M3300 is still king of trebles. No need to even play with the tone or treble controls on your PC, laptop or media player as its satellite speakers are naturally strong in treble performance (which can be piercing sharp). Anyway, you have too many inquiries all over the place thus please stick to your main inquiry thread here: Special Interest -> Home Entertainment -> Audiophiles -> Need Recommendation on Active Studio Speaker 2.0 (PC Audio) ... icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi everyone,

I tried searching first, but could not find a definitive answer.

I'm looking for a 2.1 speaker system that meet the following criteria:

Input: Digital Optical In (PS4)
Additional controls: Bass (must), Treble (optional)
Budget: Minimal (the cheaper, the better)

No 5.1 setup please. I appreciate a good bass, but willing to sacrifice it. Also might to increase budget if there's a significant improvement in quality.

What are my options? Thanks

I don't know your budget but Edifier S530D and S730D has digital in optical for PS4
as well as Edifier Studio 7 and Studio 8 but they're 2.0 speakers

I'm not sure how well it supports your digital signal as I don't have a Playstation console to test but yea

Whats the difference of Studio 7 & 8? Is Studio 7 sufficient for my one time off purchase? Play games & music only.

Try looking at Edifier S330D which has digital audio inputs including an optical one. The compatibility of the speaker systems's optical SPDIF with PS4 is unknown as these speakers usually support the standard stereo PCM streams on TOSLink connection... unsure.gif

If you want to take a notch up, then I would recommend looking at Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700). Again, the compatibility of the speaker systems's optical SPDIF with PS4 is unknown. In any case it may be safer to get a HDMI audio extractor thus can use any speaker system... hmm.gif

That Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700) can support up to 96kHz (official). Also was able to run it 192kHz (unofficially) though need to reset the connection (by switching inputs) if you ever use the MUTE function on the SPDIF... icon_rolleyes.gif

The difference between them is size (Studio 8 is much bigger of course), power (Studio 8 has higher wattage) and price (Studio 8 is more expensive). Also since Studio 8 has larger woofer, can expect stronger lower frequency (bass) response. Anyway, both have very strong audio performance... icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi Sifus,

I m been using ATP3 for years and MX6021 for 2~3 years..
but out of sudden, my MX6021 cant be power on last week..
So, thinking to replace it smile.gif

Budget : around or less than RM400
Usage: 60% Music, 30% Movie and 10% Gaming

I been reading.. thinking to try with Edifier Speaker R1600T and HCS2330..
I curious about 2.0 and 2.1 speaker, will the bass not that "strong" ?

Or any recommended around that budget?

Thanks

I already know that, just wondering if it will downmix those surround sound down to stereo or not (in case some games and movies have them)... unsure.gif

If primarily music then can try Edifier Studio 6 (a.k.a Edifier R2600) which is around RM400+. As for bass performance, it boils down to the woofer size usually. With 2.1 speaker systems they typically have all the bass in the subwoofer, while the midrange to trebles allocated to the smaller satellite speakers. And that subwoofer usually has a large woofer, typically 6.5 inch for strong bass performance. And that 2.0 speaker I've mentioned have two of them (on both speakers)... icon_rolleyes.gif

In this case, you mean r2600 will have better bass compare to HCS2330?

As mentioned earlier, for primarily music then Edifier Studio 6 (a.k.a Edifier R2600) would be better. Have more "full" sound than the other speakers, especially when it comes to midrange frequencies... nod.gif

of course! r2600 has 2 unit of 6.5" main woofer, less a crossover. the moving volume is definitely higher than 2330 only has 1 unit

Hi sifu
need your advice to finalize my decision
I am currently deciding between R1600Tiii and HCS2330
i am looking for versatility as i usually do 50-50 gaming and music.

My fave music genre are mostly ballad, sentimental, jazz, blue, bossa nova and R&B. I not keen on bassy/dance music so loud bass is not necessary to me. prefer "cleaner bass" than loud and muddy one.

For gaming purpose, which one able to tell me more accurate enemy position?
Currently using M2300 which has terrible satellite. Failed me everytime when i try to hear enemy footstep during online FPS game.

Thank in advance

Go for Edifier R1600T III. Quote from Tech-Critter: Quick Review: Edifier Studio R1600T III 2.0 Speaker System... nod.gif
QUOTE
Vocals are clear and crisp, mid tones are good and the bass is punchy; the R1600TIII even manages to surprise me with new elements that I've never noticed from my song collection. The 4-inch bass drivers delivers explosions and low rumbles in movies adequately and gaming with the speakers replicates the experience (of course with the volume up some notch), sound positioning is just as good too, so no troubles hearing the direction of enemies in an FPS game before you see them.

Those satellites lack tweeters, thus often fine sounds are missed. A little higher up Edifier M3300SF model has tweeters. Quote from Overclock3D :: Review :: Edifier M3300SF 2.1 Speaker Set Review :: Testing and Conclusion... icon_rolleyes.gif
QUOTE
The first thing that strikes you is how full the aural experience is. The inclusion of dedicated tweeters on the satellites mean that the main speakers on them can be tuned more towards the midrange and this really enhances the sound scape. Highs are crisp and voices clearly audible whether you are listening to the quite exposition of a blockbuster, or your team-mates screaming orders in the middle of a firefight.

Looking at a stereo setup with powered/ multimedia speakers for playback purposes. But the speaker should not be too huge and space friendly. Budget 2k. Already have a DAC which i think serves as a preamp too, see my sig. The Hivi X4 seems decent but i would like to hear more options. Please advice thks biggrin.gif

At those prices, can get an Edifier Studio 8 already. Yups, could try looking around Digital Mall area. Other than that, try sending inquiries to Mr. Edifier on possible locations to buy, and/or stock status of Edifier Studio 7 speakers... hmm.gif

"Space friendly"? How much space do you have for those stereo speakers? As for HiVi X4, its nice but you may find it lacking in bass (have that boxy type sound) due to its (small) size. For RM2K, there are plenty of options and combos as well. And do you have space for a dedicated subwoofer? hmm.gif
