Edifier R600USB
or
Edifier R600TC

or something smaller would be Edifier Prime M20USB

I don't know if it's under RM100 but I'd suggest these for small 2.0 setup
if you were to pick 2.1 I'd immediately suggests Edifier M1360 because it is super cheap that sounds expensive

Thanks for your suggestion, If got enough space I wouldnt mind to take the woofer~~ laugh.gif

Hi guys,

currently on the lookout for a 2.1 speaker system in the ballpark of RM500 mostly for music usage. What would be a suitable recommendation?

Thanks! =D
*
If around RM500 and primarily for music usage, then I would suggest Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700).

Hi all master shifu here,

Try looking at Edifier HCS2330 which comes with a remote, and is around RM300... hmm.gif

hi guys and sifus,

please recommend me a suitable speaker to buy. just bought a led tv. tv's speaker is so-so. feels headache just by research for suitable speaker.

budget: 200-300. up a bit still consider
room size: living room size, maybe 20f x 15f
main use: astro viewing only. didnt plan to add more stuff

if can, can you tell me which is better. 2.0 setup or 2.1..

thanks in advance.peace
*
Quite a number of choices at this price range. If your primary usage is for movies then 2.1 speakers (such as Edifier HCS2330) may be better. And if your primary usage is for music then 2.0 speakers (such as Edifier R1600T) would be suitable... cool.gif

QUOTE(bananalow @ Aug 2 2014, 08:45 PM)
Hi, can anyone recommend me a good 2.0 speaker? Budget preferable ~RM100. I would like to place it on my personal desk in my room for music and movie~ if small even better as I wouldn't want my speaker to took a lot of my desk space~~ Thanks! smile.gif
*
Around RM100 and tight space, you could look for low budget speakers which are pretty small and mostly 2.0 (stereo) type such as Logitech Z150, Creative SBS A60, etc (and many more, including cap ayam brand ones). If you're willing to spend a little extra (more than RM100) then you may want to consider Edifier M2280 or Edifier M20 USB Hub... sweat.gif

For speaker systems with Bluetooth, you may also want to consider either Edifier PrismaBT or Edifier Spinnaker (our very own forum review here: Special Interest -> Home Entertainment -> Audiophiles -> Edifier E30 Review!, Took a while for me to write this up (PC Audio))... icon_idea.gif

You may want to take a look at Edifier R1600T III as well, although its just 2.0 stereo speakers. According to specifications, this speaker has better low frequency (bass) response than Swans M10... hmm.gif

Try looking at Edifier M3400, Edifier M2300, or Edifier M3300SF (external review here: Overclock3D :: Review :: Edifier M3300SF 2.1 Speaker Set Review). As always, do audition/test the speakers first to see if it suits your listening preferences... cool.gif

You can want to try using the integrated audio first (usually most integrated audio solutions nowadays are pretty adequate). However if you have the budget to get a sound card like ASUS Xonar then go ahead and get it... icon_rolleyes.gif

Lets say if my budget is around the price of the Bose Companion 5. Would you recommend something else? Using for music more, such as Jrock, oldies, instrumental, basically every genre but listen more on the ones I mentioned.

is speaker size on your concern? usually bose c5 is aim by user who does not have enough space to put speakers, plus money not issue.
u can have a lot of choices because the relation of "bigger size is better" is somewhat true... whistling.gif

lets say a pair of 5" bookshelf & int amplifier, like xls encore (from a forummer here named fx20) will cost you at the range of c5

The most ideal setup would be a 2.0 or 2.1 because my pc is in the bedroom. Aesthetic wise, the AudioEngine A5+ Bamboo has some what capture my eyes. Does the normal A5+ and bamboo one have any difference in sound, I mean since its a different material on enclosure?

i see... c5 or a5 both are OK-type speaker, my choice is a5 because "bigger = better" haha

a 5" like a5 can handle mid & midbass. it will be less unbalance tone and loss of detail being filtered out in crossover circuit. this is very obvious in near field listening.

c5 little satelite cannot, the space saving design rely the powerful subwoofer to help producing mid-bass. u will get the unbalance overtone and that's about it.

i never heard of "using bamboo" as a case material by traditional speaker maker sweat.gif

If primarily for music then at the lower end of the budget scale you may want to take a look at Edifier Studio 8 (a.k.a Edifier R2800, our local forum review here: Special Interest -> Home Entertainment -> Audiophiles -> Edifier R2800 Review (MASSIVE)(PICS), Reasonable priced Studio Speakers biggrin.gif (Hi-Fi) ) for 2.0 system, or HiVi Swans M50W for 2.1 system. As for the higher end of the budget scale, there are too many choices and combinations to choose from. If spending more isn't a problem then you may want to look at ye olde Wharfdale DX-1 HCP which is quite musical in nature despite its position as a (compact) home theatre surround speaker system... hmm.gif

Please note that these are small stereo speakers, thus do not expect them to sound/perform like a 2.1 speaker system or large stereo speaker systems especially when it comes to (very low frequency) bass. Check the frequency response graph below (source: Edifier.tw > Edifier Multimedia® > M2280). As always, try auditioning/testing them first (at the shops) before deciding... wink.gif
