Gonna buy a gift for a friend who is a bass head. Budget RM350 max...
Something bassy, currently in mind Edifier M2300 (Much more bass than my M3300SF I find) Edifier C2X... (Has bass but need to pump up the volume & max bass setting) Logitech Z523 (Fluid bass a little cinematic i think, not too loose either) Altec Lansing 4621 (Usual altec boomy bass) Anything i missed? |

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a 5.1 speaker system for my mini home theatre setup, after much research, it came down to the following 2 model: Edifier S550 ![]() Logitech Z906 ![]() Initially I was pretty much convinced to get the Logitech Z5500, but unfortunately it's discontinued. So I'm kinda hanging around between Edifier S550 and Logitech Z906. FYI, I'm a bass head and will mainly use it to watch movie, second listen to music. So may I know which speaker would you recommend? And why? I have a friend who suggested that always choose wood as speaker material, is it true? Will the plastic material for Z906 effect the sound quality? How about short term and long term? Thank you in advance! |

So in this case, I guess my best option between the 2 is Z906? |

Thank you guys for giving valuable suggestion.
Edifier arslow S760D indeed has better spec, but it's way exceeded my budget. In fact Z906 exceed my budget too, but I don't mind to chip in a hundred or two for better "future proof". I'll just follow ktek suggestion to go for Z906, the DTS decoding feature is a good point and deal maker for me. |

You can give S550 encore a try, the only different between S760D and S550 encore is S550 doesn't came with decoder, both have same RMS. |

I guess for your budget, if you still want a digital input, z906 is definitely your only choice Edifier arslow S760D indeed has better spec, but it's way exceeded my budget. Edifier R600USBor Edifier R600TC or something smaller would be Edifier Prime M20USB I don't know if it's under RM100 but I'd suggest these for small 2.0 setup if you were to pick 2.1 I'd immediately suggests Edifier M1360 because it is super cheap that sounds expensive |
