OSK said,
Probably due to Moody’s downgrade on European Union’s longer-term issuer rating outlook, the FBM KLCI experienced a strong selling pressure yesterday. The index retraced sharply by about 13 pts from the 1,655-pt historic high and violated the recent low of 1,643 pts. In the next few days, should the FBM KLCI quickly rebound back above 1,643 pt-level, it will be trading sideways between 1,643 pt-level and 1,655 pt-level. Judging by yesterday’s market action, it is likely that the index may be extending the consolidation phase started since 15 Aug 2012. Nevertheless, failure to return above 1,643 pt-level may signal further weakening of the market, possibly towards the immediate support of 1,630/1,631-pt level, or even 1,620 pt-level. Although the selling pressure is still felt, our bullish bias for the near term remains unchanged for now. There is a possibility that the index could gap up at the opening today and close back above 1,643 pts. From the current level, look for an immediate resistance at around 1,648 pt-level, which is the mid-point of yesterday’s “Long Black Day”. The 1,655-pt historic high would be the next major hurdle. Local funds selling, KLCI pull-back to 1600 seen
Written by Ho Wah Foon of theedgemalaysia.com Thursday, 06 September 2012 11:05 KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 6) – Local funds are actively selling index linked stocks for the second day running, forcing down the FBM KLCI by about 1% in mid-morning trade, according to Fong Teng Siew, the head of research for InterPacific Securities. Fong told theedgemalaysia in a telephone interview Thursday: “Local funds are selling big cap stocks, Petronas group of companies and index-linked stocks. Probably they think that in terms of pricing and valuation, the current market is high.” In mid-morning trade, the market fell across the board with all sectoral indices rolling in the negative territory. At 11.03 am, the FBM KLCI lost 14.81 points or 0.9% to 1626.20. Big cap stocks that registered falls include PPB, Petgas, Petronas Dagangan PChem, AEONCR, KLK, Dutch Lady, Genting, Axiata, CIMB, Maybank and TM. Yesterday the local funds and retail players were already net sellers, with foreign funds being net buyers, Fong noted. “Valuation for our market is very high now, with some big cap stocks such as telcos having 30 times PEs. The last time we had such high PEs was in 1993 and after that the market crashed, but I don’t think there will be a crash this time around. A strong pull-back to just above 1600 is possible,” Fong said. He said he is advising clients not to enter the market now as valuation is high. “But for those already in the market, they may have to hold on to their stocks for long term prospects.” |

QUOTE(Seremban_2 @ Sep 6 2012, 04:25 PM) I read about it at newspaper. MD said long term on Wilmar. if go to RM10- RM11 then really a risk of lost in appreciation. PPB got another risk, is that it involved in basic needs(food) businesses that highly depending on government's price control. Therefore its China business is not doing well. Not defensive, if play with rice or sugar etc. basic needs food business. High risk actually, if the government is not yet a mature one. |

QUOTE(jy1905 @ Sep 6 2012, 04:52 PM) if i am not mistaken, wilmar controls 50% of cooking oil market in china To do business in China sometime you have to take serious consideration on government advice... that's why Wilmar is losing money on the oil seed crunching business in China, that had been drag for some time liao, every now and then bottom line also get a hit on that and there is no visible solution on the horizon, investor losing confident on the counter, even though the CEO everyday drum up the business, unless one fine day China government pity them, else they might going like that forever... sound stupid? But seems like that's the real situation there... Also Wilmar is worst among oil seed cruncher in China, then seems to be buying expensive every round, whereas others like Golden Agri & Indofood seems to have better timing in buying their feedstock... and the price of cooking oil is controlled by gov.. i read an article saying that the china gov issued an official statement to the producers not to increase the price some time ago and the most recent one the gov only "advise" them not to increase |

Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd's (BMMB) net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2012 rose 41.6 per cent to RM45.2
million from RM32.0 million posted a year ago. In a statement today, the company said its revenue grew 14.5 per cent to RM255.6 million compared to last year's RM223.3 million. The bank also declared a higher financing income of RM148.3 million due to increased financing growth. Meanwhile, year-on-year, BMMB's customer deposits increased to RM15.8 billion while saving deposits improved 29.1 per cent over the same period. Its key capital ratios remain higher than the industry level, with Core Capital Ratio and Risk Weighted Capital Ratio at 13.6 per cent and 18.9 per cent, respectively, above the minimum regulatory requirement. Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Redza Shah Abdul Wahid said: "The growth is encouraging despite being in a competitive market and we are on track to surpass the RM10 billion financing mark in the next quarter. "While we are pleased with our first quarter progress, we will continue to place great emphasis on strengthening our balance sheet to position the bank towards long-term sustainable growth." -- Bernama Read more: Bank Muamalat Q1 net profit rises to RM45.2m http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BTIM.../#ixzz25gvMiLjI |

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - The European Central Bank agreed a new bond-buying program on Thursday to lower struggling euro zone countries' borrowing costs which would serve as a "fully effective backstop", ECB President Mario Draghi said on Thursday.
The ECB Governing Council agreed on the "modalities of outright monetary transactions", Draghi told a news conference after the Council's monthly policymaking meeting in Frankfurt. Seeking to back up his pledge to do whatever it takes to preserve the euro, Draghi said the new bond-buying program, aimed at the secondary market, would "safeguard the monetary policy transmission in all countries in the euro zone area". It would address bond market distortions and the "unfounded" fears of investors about the irreversibility of the euro. The scheme, which the Bundesbank is known to have opposed, would be a "fully effective backstop to prevent potentially destructive scenarios", he said. "We are strictly within our mandate," Draghi said. Becomes QE member liau. |

Actually, Maybank did raise year end target to 1620 from previous 1565, still the same PE 13.3x. CSL has passed the 6 months period. Now still trading at PE 6x, still trading above its IPO price. If it able to sustain that for another 3-6 months, there is possibility of other redchips to be re-rating....perhaps at least craw back to their IPO price? Only time will tell. Those shoes companies, even at 3x, could gain 100% or more at current price.

I wonder whether the ECB bond buying programme that result in huge market bull will last or not.
I still do not quite understand how to "sterilise" the money of bond buying. Unlimited purchase? Wow, means country can still continue issue bond to fund the budget deficit? After all ECB will buy? Like a open "water tap" that unlimited? |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Sep 7 2012, 10:39 AM) I wonder whether the ECB bond buying programme that result in huge market bull will last or not. The Catch is Spain must ask for IMF help ( complying to IMF strict rules ) before qualifying for the bond supports ( under the new program ) I still do not quite understand how to "sterilise" the money of bond buying. Unlimited purchase? Wow, means country can still continue issue bond to fund the budget deficit? After all ECB will buy? Like a open "water tap" that unlimited? I think there would be limited new issues of bonds for countries under the IMF assistance , hence unlimited purchases become effective. " sterilised " - would make it more effective " right ? " Strict and effective conditions will be attached to the OMTs and European Financial Stability or European Stability Mechanism programs, Draghi said, adding the ECB would seek the involvement of the International Monetary Fund to design country-specific conditions." They just make it "more effective", so that they no need all sorts of endless meetings before any decision made for the funding. And I also don't think there will be really that "unlimited". Just that there's no on paper limit, which is pointless also since it took months and months to just make one number after tens of meetings. They drag it too long already, now they really want to make a faster move, be it to solve the problem or prolong it or whatever. At least, do something and see how it goes. I guess that's the spirit of it. |

True. But on the other hand, cutting debt is really not an easy job. Look at the Euro countries now, people are on the street. The instability of the country cannot do any help to its rebuild of economy. And debt interest is hanging them, no matter how luxury they are and have been, they(or to say, their citizens) still need times to adjust themselves. Need to give them time. QUOTE(yok70 @ Sep 7 2012, 01:19 PM) But the report says jatropha needs dry weather. So it is not suitable for Malaysian climate? Another candidate for biofuel is algae. Here is something about it... Although algae produces some carbon dioxide when burned, unlike fossil fuels, it's carbon dioxide that the algae take in while they are growing. This is great, because when algae farms grow huge lakes and vats of algae to be turned into biofuels, they actually suck the greenhouse gas out of the air. Algae has many other benefits. Unlike corn for ethanol or soybeans for biodiesel, algae can be cultivated in ponds or even tubes in a fluid containing vitamins, minerals and everything else it needs to grow — it doesn't need soil or fresh water to grow. Huge vats of algae can produce more energy per hectare than any land crop can. http://www.businessinsider.com/how-algae-c...ure-2012-7?op=1 |

Although I sold all my Bonia last week, I still receive the MGO offer post to me. I don't need to care about it, but I'd like to learn.
It said, "NOTICE OF UNCONDITIONAL MANDATORY TAKE-OVER OFFER DATED 28 AUGUST 2012". The offer price is 2.04. I'm still not sure how this thing works. Can any sifu please teach me? 1. Is it a MUST that all shareholders MUST sell their shares to them? 2. What's the difference between this one and the previous Spsetia offer? If I remember correctly, every shareholder MUST sell their shares to them on that one, was it? Thanks! Chinese manufacturers, subsidized by their government, sell products at cut-throat price. That is a good news for consumers and installers, but bad news for non-Chinese solar panel makers. It's difficult to play in China. PPB recently also announced that they decided not to go for China's cinema business although growth is huge but "competition is tough"....that's a nice way of putting it. Unlimited purchase? Wow, means country can still continue issue bond to fund the budget deficit? After all ECB will buy? Like a open "water tap" that unlimited? i find out that sterilized bond buying is something like operation twist... (from another angmoh forum) but how can they make it "Unlimited" ???? cant be that they have unlimited things to sell... |

QUOTE(davidcch07 @ Sep 7 2012, 08:13 PM) DRIP stands for dividend Reinvestment Plan.basically, you can have a large portion of entitled dividend given to you in shares. Info from http://www.bursamalaysia.com/market/listed...cements/1060301 Extracted Info: 1. Interim Cash Dividend in which an electable portion of RM0.28 (RM0.21 net of taxation) per Maybank Share held can be elected to be reinvested into new Maybank Shares and the remaining portion of RM0.04 (RM0.03 net of taxation) per Maybank Share will be paid in cash. 2. QUOTE(john123x @ Sep 7 2012, 08:47 PM) You mean you have to fill in the DRIP form everytime there's a dividend? If one year 4 times dividend, then have to goto post office 4 times?I read that overseas there's no charges for issuing the dividend shares into your CDS account if you opt for DRIP. So, DRIP is better compared to taking the cash dividend and then buying the same stock because this will incur brokerage fee. |

So, DRIP is better compared to taking the cash dividend and then buying the same stock because this will incur brokerage fee. |

US job numbers are real bad. QE3 is coming, maybe as early as next week, when the Fed meets. I won't bother to write a long post, but Obama and Democrats are no better than GOP. But yes, Clinton is probably the best US president in recent times. People who have the right ideas and are straight talkers, like Ron Paul, are always unpopular among the majority. Oh yeah, one of my banks jumped 6% today. |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Sep 7 2012, 10:39 AM) I wonder whether the ECB bond buying programme that result in huge market bull will last or not. I think it work like QE.I still do not quite understand how to "sterilise" the money of bond buying. Unlimited purchase? Wow, means country can still continue issue bond to fund the budget deficit? After all ECB will buy? Like a open "water tap" that unlimited? It's just another form of inject liquidity into the market. The drawback is depreciation of Euro I guess. |

IF QE3 goes through, expect a certain time in the future where the GFC will be much much and much worse than the one that happened in 2010/11.
US dollar will be so sucky and they pull the whole word down with them. Printing money will NOT help anything substantial. They are just printing money from basically NOTHING. The money paper bill is worthless. Im expecting to invest in commodities or best, metals i.e gold. I could stock up Chinese RMB as they are the real new world power. My 200 ringgit. |

Too bad we don't have any gold ETF in local market. Buying gold from banks charged very high fees, i think 5% or something, and then the gap between buy/sell price also quite big.

I cant find ways to convince me that this kind of country's currency is sustainable.... and freedom of speech is seriously suppressed in china. If you start a demonstration whatsoever, you wil be be executed, no question asked.... and i am sure recently i read bout china canceling settlement of forex settlements and banning few hundred brokers, just because the outgoing amount currency out of the country are too much. what about those loses suffered by those forex brokers.......who going to compensate them.... |

Bare in mind, China economy has never a recession since its booming, and economy system, leverage problem/issue has never being "tested" during a recession. We know, an economy is impossible to be booming non-stop and without a recession over the long term. Although China economy and RMB future look rosy and promising, RMB is not (or yet) an worldwide international settlement currency. A lot of world trade out there still USD settlement domination. Added on September 10, 2012, 10:33 amI heard a lot of promising speak/talk from UT selling agent during China stock market booming time, as well as lot of China related UT launching around 2007, that China is the next world economy power, so they said good to invest in China related stock/stock market, bright future, blar blar, then the rest is history.
文:柳树吉 (佳礼论坛董事经理兼创办人 ) Bravo to Malaysia BOLEH!! 7 Reasons why QE3 will not happen - by Seeking Alpha
1. Food and energy prices already high 2. The Fed will be out of credible bullets, QE4 will create hyperinflation 3. QE3 will cause severe questioning of the independence of the Federal Reserve 4. QE has no track record in causing any real GDP, real income, or job growth 5. The Fed owns too much of the long term Treasury market to make QE3 viable without eliminating bond market liquidity 6. Printing money has never historically created real wealth 7. QE has diminishing returns and may already be fully priced in by equity markets http://seekingalpha.com/article/858021-why...will-not-happen |

It's coming. And it's fact, much much faster than when it's up, as always.
My wild guess is one or a bit more of these sharp dropping days, consolidation will arrive. It cannot sharp drop too long, otherwise 1400 can come within this week already. This post has been edited by yok70: Sep 11 2012, 11:28 AM |

The last two bottoms were exactly on the money at 1.02. MAS 'broke' that low today. It touched 1.00 briefly before trading at low volumes to close at 1.01. The day(s) is still 'young', and we do not know yet if this 1.00-1.02 will hold. If it doesn't hold, then this bottom will be a much lower bottom. Can still call a triple bottom if this bottom is much lower? Another simple question. Why buy MAS now? Do you foresee MAS to return to profits soon? |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Sep 11 2012, 02:57 PM) It's possible that the housing sector gets some big incentives. My code 10 builds houses mah, but not a property stock. However, I am not keen about this sector at this moment. Property stocks seems fairly valued right now. Nothing excites me... yet. aka building houses for Govt , and who knows may get some contracts for the EPF/ Sg Buloh projects |

Hi all. Can anyone pls share his / her views on whether it may be a good time to buy / add WTK? I got it @ 1.41 sometime last year (purely on FA)
But it's been falling non-stop the past few months. I believe it's due to weak sentiments on timber industry. I believe the co. fundamentals have not changed and the sentiments would improve (maybe not so soon). So am wondering whether it may be a good time to average down. Appreciate any views. Tx in advance! |

QL share price had been stagnant for these few years, highest it went 3.7+ on last year, H5N1 and escalating of corn price drag down all poulty stock.
Amedia trading at PE 13 based on current price, should be fully value Most of the plantation stock hammered down since CPO price hovering below RM3k This post has been edited by yhtan: Sep 11 2012, 10:05 PM |

Prior that firefly was a challenger to Air Asia, but still incurring losses. The problem is government is 51% shareholder of the new budget airline, i don't hope for another MAS in making AirAsia model is having its success now because they got big helping hands when they first started out. Helping hands only help on initial stage, the rest is boiled down to management. And i notice Air Asia stands out from other for its marketing strategy. |

AirAsia debts and its future plan is indeed scary but at this moment of time, I think AirAsia's cash flows should still be able to tahan. Yeah, AirAsia won't die so fast.. QUOTE(yhtan @ Sep 12 2012, 11:46 AM) All the leasing is over a long period, maybe 10 years or longer, similar as car loan. As long the company's cash flow able to repay its instalment, bank won't kacau them LOL! I am so sorry but that statement in bold, reminds me so much of the beloved R*** sector. Too bad they are into a industry highly depending on crude oil price, inconsistency profit in q-o-q or y-o-y Their cash flow is healthy because they receive advance payment from customer by giving out promotion Last time, when I glanced thru, the 'distortion' is there due to the depreciation of its aircrafts. It's a double edged sword. One on hand, depreciation of aircrafts is a must, not just the sake of accounting purposes. But by doing that, sometimes 'investors' forget that the company is a nice cash cow and it is VERY good to have a business where it can collect money in advance. Added on September 12, 2012, 11:54 am QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Sep 12 2012, 11:46 AM) Wind Talk is ............kinda More like the TA talk also But then with some many undervalued stocks ( FA ) out there and with limited resources, logical step is detect the " wind " of some of these stocks through ( TA/SA ) Before that, still the stock got to go through a period of accumulation by the invisible hands before the wind starts to blow. Wind talk as a matter of fact is a Branch of SA Hope my code 10 meets the above...... Mr. President. This post has been edited by Boon3: Sep 12 2012, 11:54 AM |

Agree! Not necessary have to be super popular ones like Harvest. Any comments on P&O? I remember you saying you once made big money in this counter. I am interested after reading Kenanga's comments. Wonder what's your take on this stock. Watching stocks we own or used to own has its benefits. Sometimes stock could fall too much and when it does, it could be like raining ang pows. For instance, I am also watching that bank. |

For instance, I am also watching that bank. The reason why I sold off MBF W and Affin and bought Code 10 because I expect it to fall less when the market consolidates . Well P & O , we started with ( some ) bought around 60sen, and many jumped in at rm 1.20, and suffered losses, and tonnes of noises created by the forumers. M & A failed , and now story starts to repeat ? No intention to jump in cos got bad memory at around rm 1.20 then Added on September 12, 2012, 12:26 pm QUOTE(Boon3 @ Sep 12 2012, 12:14 PM) LOL! EPF kinda instructed to divert more funds to support CIMB, hence no time to take care of this stock. No lah. I just want to send it to a master Chef and ask the chef to masak the living daylights of the stock! When market down, I can be a cheapskate-r and I always have so many stocks to look and see if they can be masak-ed! Well, I am also eyeing on " bargain buy " on this bank. BTW couple of cw just expired. This post has been edited by SKY 1809: Sep 12 2012, 12:33 PM |

Stock jumped with a huge gap up and close around 1.22. What's most interesting is that with the said weak sentiments and all the 'sell first and buy back lower' talks, the stock held firm and did not give up the gains. Last Saturday, P&O confirmed it got offers from a S.African insurance company. Stock gap up on Monday. Despite the weak conditions again, the stock did not fall much. Just now the stock holding around 1.22. The current uptrend which started in June, still looks strong, in its infant stages. I love stocks who hold strong on weak sentiments. Kenanga report yesterday says the stock TP around 1.60. I am interested but I think I will only adopt a buy high and sell higher strategy on this stock. |

TonyGor not only many things to say one but anything also dare say... QUOTE "No impact to us," Fernandes, AirAsia's group CEO told The Malaysian Insider. "As a class 2 product Malaysia Airlines will be most affected as they (Malindo) want to use aerobridges and serve refreshments." Can hear or not. MAS is Class 2 product! QUOTE Some analysts say however that Malindo could spark a price war in order to win market share from AirAsia and Lion Air President Rusdi Kirana was quoted as saying yesterday that Malindo would offer fares as low or even lower than AirAsia. Fernandes brushed aside Rusdi's comments however saying that he did not think they would be able to pull it off. "How can he sell cheaper?" he said. Some people if no likey face, any how cheaper they also sell la. hehe Tiok boh? I think TonyGor cannot challenge people and say so loud 'How can he sell cheaper?' If price war, face war, anything also can one. |
