Too bad we don't have any gold ETF in local market. Buying gold from banks charged very high fees, i think 5% or something, and then the gap between buy/sell price also quite big.
*
The gap between buy/sell price is already the commission. I don't remember paying additional fees to buy gold, at least from Maybank.

Somehow I cannot understand how the QE3 exporting inflation to the emerging market? If the USD is weak, and our money is stronger, by right we don't have inflation, although commodities are traded in USD, since USD down RM up, so it's like breakeven. Anyway, I have been in gold since like a while, and might continue to buy more bars if I have extra savings. Not going to fork out extra just to buy gold, though.

The inflation is always higher the currency appreciation.
like Crude Oil Price, year 2008 Dec at USD40, that time 1USD:RM3.80
now 2012 Sept at USD91, 1USD:RM3.05

same with gold price. HKD link up with USD, they suffer the most..........
*
True, but then again we can say the crude oil and gold have demand, so going up is normal. What I'm assuming now is the demand to these commodities remain the same. So by right, USD down is indeed good news for us due to we have higher purchasing power.

I do not think export orientated country like Malaysia would let RM to be too strong against USD, it can hurt export, after all, export most are priced in USD and settled in USD.

See how Yen appreciation affected the Japan industry.

or emerging market wealthy benefit from QE3?    sweat.gif

I do not see how ordinary person on the street benefit from QE3, inflation can make ordinary person life more miserable only.
*
Cherroy, I can't seems to comprehend why we will have inflation, if our money is growing stronger? For the export stuff, I agree, but for inflation, by right we should not be suffering at all, am I right? hmm.gif

*
The only candy is more affordable home lo for income < 7.5K. Looks like our middle income grow to 7.5K. I'm still low income earner cry.gif .
I do hope we have GST so that every1 is taxable be it rich or poor.....and it also tax based on our consumption only. You want lower tax, you don't consume much, then ok d.

I think worldwide selling down on consumer stocks. WB's recent selling is a big sign. So I guess not much related to GST although this also may further deepen local consumer stocks. As overall in world market, perhaps the multiple countries QEs should give inflation a good run. And also because of QEs, players may switch from defensive play into more aggressive play.  hmm.gif
*
WB sell some consumer stocks, but buy ONG stocks + Finance stocks. Maybe we should follow?
