As in my case, Y500 does not have Optical Disc Drive (ODD). So, my option would only be to rely on the OKR should my system fails.

So, basically, I'm stucked at the "Winload.efi cannot be found". I, maybe can reinstall Windows 8. But how can I get the installation OEM of Windows 8? I have no idea man.

I sent the laptop already. Hopefully, they can fix it.

Well, I got store some win 7 installation ISO file and win 8 pro installation ISO file, so I no need to scare for windows corruption

But our Lenovo Y500 is pre-installed with Windows 8 (non-Pro version) right? How can we reinstall the Windows 8 with the Windows 8 Pro installation ISO?

Anyway, you know any legit links for me to download the Windows 8 Pro ISO ?

Sure Lenovo can do a factory reset. Unfortunately you will lose all the personal data / mods you done so far sweat.gif
But you may not need the ODD. Win8 (or Win7), if you manage to get a copy later, could be installed from iso in a external HDD.
Or you might want to think about doing a recovery media to external HDD next time tongue.gif
Ok, I think I will follow this tonight:
http://www.extremetech.com/computing/13461...es-and-programs
It show the steps require to create a custom image for Win8 Refresh tools.
My 1st plan is as follow:
1. change the partition in Win8 of Y580. (btw, just to be clear, mine is a Win8Pro RM50 upgrade from Win7HB)
2. create a custom image for Win8 refresh.
3. Install a few apps.
4. run Win8 refresh and see how it go.
This is to see if Win8 refresh could be a viable alternative to OKR if we decide to resize partition. I don't aim to recover OKR laugh.gif

I searched already in Google. But there seems no direct download available like last time during Windows 7 era. Where we can rightly download from msdn.

We can download the Windows 8 Pro and burn the ISO. But that is no direct download, and I have to upgrade first.

Here is the link--->> http://superuser.com/questions/460762/how-...-efi-bootloader

There is an extra slot available for mSata SSD only if not we have to sacrifice existing Sata HDD to replace it with SSD.

For those who have upgraded the Nvidia driver and lost the brightness control...can someone verify this--->>> ??

Quoted from --->> http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-...ite/td-p/935643

"Yup, installing energy management would bing back the volume and brightness osd's. However i reccomend you install the energy management of windows 7 as the one for windows 8 has bugs and hence does not work properly.
The osd's for one key theatre would only come after reinstalling one key theatre software. Download from below."

http://driverdl.lenovo.com.cn/lenovo/Drive...Theater_x64.exe

If it is correct, maybe we can retain the brightness control when we update the Nvidia driver.
