Nice looking laptop! I guess the dual graphics refer to Nvidia Optimus.
*
And also GT655M still no any information on NVIDIA website, so I think maybe it can do SLI? biggrin.gif

Added on September 1, 2012, 6:10 pmAnd just now I check the price search on Google, starting at US$649 for Y400

Just copy from notebookreview.com:
"This piece of news should interest some people. As far as I know the new Y400 and Y500 are not going to replace the Y480 and Y580, but they will certainly be close in specs and potentially more capable in performance as they have an UltraBay (like ThinkPads offer) that allows for either a DVD Burner, Blu-Ray or another graphics card that can be paired with the Nvidia 650M / 655M the Y400 and Y500 will be equipped with.

Lenovo has redesigned the Y400 cooling with bigger wire mesh ventilation below the hot spot. Its getting ready for the SLI GPU.  brows.gif
It thermal design is better than Y480 and save the trouble for dust cleaning.  rclxms.gif
Wish they have resolved the thermal design flaw in Y480/Y580 where HDD temp is relatively high.

I think they move the south bridge to another place lo, the main reason why HDD temp is high is not cause by copper pipeline but is the south bridge, the south bridge is just back to the HDD place only...

Updated post#1 with more latest picture.

High end Y500 with carbon fibre patterned cover & ultrabay with fan/heatsink/2nd discrete GPU on right side look very promising.  drool.gif  rclxm9.gif
Fan, heatsink for on board CPU/GPUs are on the left side.

did u see any heatsink there?

But south bridge normal operating temp is 4X degree Celsius, and the chipset just down to HDD, so u think heat will spread to where?

Let's hope it won't cost a Bomb.

It is weight around 2.88kg(probably without the 2nd GPU), and only packed with a 1366x768 LCD on an 15 inch.

Would rather get a Sager with a single 7970M(which probably even beat 2x GTX660M), weight around 3.1kg, and packed with a 1920x1080 LCD on an 15 inch.

Again, the question is, will it cost(inclusive of the 2nd GPU for SLI) about the same as the sager or cheaper.  hmm.gif

Well, we will only know after the whole spec list release....

655m and 660m diff should be small right?

660m is like 570m kah?

According to China forum there GT655M seems likely is SLI version of GT650M, GT650M does Not support SLI BTW

BTW somebody misunderstand what I write....lol
What I mean is GT655M seems like is GT650M+SLI circuit, so single GT655M would be same as single GT650M

hi,i would like to know is the 120w psu good enought to support the ultra bay?
if not why have to make another 170w psu=.=i really no idea about this ~
3700-3900 is ok with me,i will buy it with this price{if it is full hd)
but is anyone know how gt650sli work,is it similar to 670mx or 675mx?
and is y400/500 have a backlit keyboard?
*
120W is enough for support any ultrabay(DVD drive/empty drive/HDD drive) except GPU ultrabay

Added on November 16, 2012, 3:29 pmThe 170W PSU is to support the GPU ultrabay

Oh apparently its a general SLI problem, which faced by all the SLIs out there, so no worry about that the machine is working perfectly fine. In fact, i turned off SLI and run DOTA2 in max graphic and its smooothhhhh....  brows.gif

btw here's a quick pic, I'll post more later  laugh.gif

The Y500 user can plan to open one user discuss thread!! biggrin.gif
Although the Y500 is great but I would choose Y400 if Y400 is release, just I got bring my Y480 to school almost all the time, Y580/Y500 for me is too bulky to bring....
