always wanted to know about the pay method with the diff currencies and all when you guys work overseas, thx bro.just a question do how do you send money back here??or lets say put in for your savings??tt ??bank transfer?? hmm.gif
*
Wire transfer of course. I would recommend opening a USD account with the local bank and you can transfer the money in USD (most ME countries have their currency pegged to the USD) and once you see the USD appreciates, then you can transfer the USD to a RM currency account. Some of us open an offshore Cayman Island or Isle of Man (because we are paid in Sterling Pounds).

Hi guys, I've just graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Melbourne and I've applied to almost all of the O&G companies listed at the top of this forum but no replies. Does anyone know of any companies that are hiring fresh grads at the moment ?

Hows your grade? The thing is your discipline is quite general, not like petroleum engineer, etc. So you have to compete with alot more candidates, and you need to have something different in your resume to make yourself stands out. For instance, why should I hire a candidate with civil engineering background from u.s, when I have someone else with petroleum engineering degree from utm? It will save me alot of time to train them.
Another thing is, just be patient. I got called for interview 4 months after I graduated. Also I went for another interview 1 year after I submitted my application. Apparently they do keep your resume and call you when there is vacancy.

Besides networking, has nobody tried rigzone's career center website page which list a number of positions available within malaysia and overseas?

I used it to snag my previous position but as they say, networking and building a good work relations with everybody is very important in moving around the OnG industry.
