once u complete BOSIET u can go straight away...but then again depends on clients' requirement on safety passport, smartcard, Loss Prevention System training, etc...etc

Thanks, but what do you really mean by that? Sounds like it's not really a good side of o&g to be in.
*
theres nothing not good about it...its a fabrication yard to fabricate items like jacket, topside etc...etc.

Guys, I have a small question here,
which kind of engineer will require to go offshore only for a certain period? I mean, they might station in office or other places rather than offshore but will only require to go offshore for some work in a short period?

Tq
*
I'm QA engineer n I only go offshore once or twice during project execution and each time I only spend 3-4 days on the barge (depend on crew boat schedule)

Hi guys,

I have been offered an offshore position in SapuraKencana recently, and the position is contract-based for 1 year.  This will be my first job since I'm a fresh graduate. May I ask, how likely for sapura to absorb their contract workers as permanent? I'm quite worried as to what will happen after my contract ends.

Thanks.

Which company? Position?

Oh. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm with TL Geohydro. I'm quite curious about this geophysics position. From what I know, Sapura is not exactly an exploration company right? So, I guess I want to know about the prospect of being a geophysicist for long term in Sapura. Do they constantly need geophysicist or only for certain period of time when they got project that involves geophysicist?
*
Here it is called TLGH ..they are doing survey ..Sapurakencana is an EPCIC company..abt the prospect ..they always need geophysicist. TLO is an installation n logistic company so prior to installation TLGH will do survey for them. Project wise no worries ...schedule is already pack for 2013.

Hi what u guys opinion on 12 months contract employment? I'm currently on permamanent term with my current employer. Job function is the same but money being offered is more than double my current. I think its risky as i'm on shared service line.

If your skill set/qualification is in demand.. + good contacts... its a good offer.. but you need define your 'double' term.. is salary offered double from this (current salary+12%kswp+medical benefit/supplement+medical & life insurance)..

is all about the contents of contract...  wink.gif
*
Thanks for your reply abgkik... What I meant with double is the gross salary... Other benefit such as the insurance coverage is very much similar ( outpatient, hospitalization, etc).

Never on contact term before ... just scared what if after the 12 months contract n they don't renew it ... will I still be able to secure another job with that pay scale.

Hi u in ols. I am graduating student of Manufacturing Engineering. I've been 'stalking' this thread for months. So, i am about to finish my study in this June. Planning to start work in July ( no holiday 'goyang2 kaki' at home).

I've once completed my internship in a local subcontractor company which involved in oil and gas industry.

So, i also planning to start my career in oil and gas industry also since i know a little bit how the business is going on. Just wanna ask to all otai2 here, is it possible manufacturing engineering student to work in O&g field? Which line of careers as engineers do u all can suggest to me?

Thanks smile.gif
