If your passport are expired or will be expired soon, do not wait until last minute to renew your passport. Do renew your passport at least 2 or 3 months before you travel.

Some countries do not require Malaysian to do Visa. However, if you are travelling with foreigner friends or family members to the countries where you yourself no need Visa, it does not mean they no need visa also. Warn them to do the Visa.

And, it is better if you can purchase travel insurance for your entire trip.

If you need to use your phone for entertainment purpose on your flight, or if you need to use a PDA, make sure it has "flight mode" or "airplane mode" feature. And, please note that some airlines staffs not even know what is "flight mode" / "airplane mode". This feature will disable all wireless transmission (bluetooth, wifi, etc) of your device, so that you can use the device on the flight. This feature must be enabled before you board the aircraft.

If you need to use laptop on the flight, please ensure all wireless transmittion features (WiFi, bluetooth, etc) are disabled before you board the flight. Do, note that some laptop may automatically enable the wifi feature after reboot even you disabled it before reboot. If your laptop are in this case, and you are using Windows, use Windows device manager to disable your WiFi adapter.

Recently, I have 3 flights with AA, and I hand carried my luggage, likewise my parents.  So, 3 of us, 3 flights, if all of us check in our baggages for all 3 flights, it would be RM180(pre-booked) or RM270 (at the airport)!

To avoid the hand carry luggage being weighed, and to use one piece of hand carry, and not exceeding the 7kg limit, this is what we did:
- use the light weight "soft" bag (the "overnight" bag) and not the cabin-sized luggage.  Chances are the AA staff are more likely to weigh the "bigger looking" cabin-sized luggage bag.  Besides, those luggage bag on itself when empty carries some weight (might be +/-1kg).

- do not carry handbag, sling bag, waist pouch etc, but use a small backpack(I keep my waist pouch in the backpack).  Some of the "heavy weight" small items can be put into the backpack, thus lighten the hand carry luggage.  (I carried 1kg of dried shrimp in my backpack) If carry handbag etc, the backpack might be considered as the second piece of hand carry..  Also, I do not put clothing items in the backpack - this will make it like another hand carry luggage, just in case they check.

My question here is what are the differences between the 3 categories above? Saver vs Standard vs Dull Award ticket?
