Should not be a problem provided you check the weight & the size of the backpack 1st. Must be within the allowable size & weight. Allowable size is standard and there is a bag size jig before check-in counter for you to check. For weight, check wth the airline policy..diff airlines having diff requirement

Hi, was wondering, As I understand it,

Air-Asia allows us to purchase more luggage weight 4 hours before flight via online. Correct?

What about other air flight such as virgin blue?

I am planning a backpacking trip around NZ, and right now the carry on weight and the luggage space purchase thingy is giving me a heck of a headache.

Move the sensitive stuff to a memory card or flash drive - buy some 16GB ones and label them.

Don't try to password any folders to avoid troubles.

just relax and take it easy...

let them know exactly why you did those experiment. Do you have a certification on that? Is it necessary for your job? You need to answer those questions yourself before braving those people.

Malaysian 3 pins (where the pins are in the triangle shape with the big middle one) won't fit everywhere but you can find some multiplugs that accept them in China

The "normal" 2 pins will fit without issues almost anywhere.

For adapters any hardware shops will have them usually, like I know I found some in 1utama in the big hardware shop near the taxi station, ground floor.

Guess many other places got.

No worries, if you want to be super safe, buy a 3pin to 2 pin adapter in Malaysia and bring a multiplug along.

This way you use the adapter to plug the multiplug and can put any of your Msia devices to the multiplug, you don't need many adapters really.

If your passport are expired or will be expired soon, do not wait until last minute to renew your passport. Do renew your passport at least 2 or 3 months before you travel.

Some countries do not require Malaysian to do Visa. However, if you are travelling with foreigner friends or family members to the countries where you yourself no need Visa, it does not mean they no need visa also. Warn them to do the Visa.

And, it is better if you can purchase travel insurance for your entire trip.

If you need to use your phone for entertainment purpose on your flight, or if you need to use a PDA, make sure it has "flight mode" or "airplane mode" feature. And, please note that some airlines staffs not even know what is "flight mode" / "airplane mode". This feature will disable all wireless transmission (bluetooth, wifi, etc) of your device, so that you can use the device on the flight. This feature must be enabled before you board the aircraft.

If you need to use laptop on the flight, please ensure all wireless transmittion features (WiFi, bluetooth, etc) are disabled before you board the flight. Do, note that some laptop may automatically enable the wifi feature after reboot even you disabled it before reboot. If your laptop are in this case, and you are using Windows, use Windows device manager to disable your WiFi adapter.

If you are travelling to USA with electronic devices (e.g. laptop, mobile phones, Ipod, music / video player, or others), please note that Obama has given the airport customs the rights to seize your electronic devices for a few days and search your files, including deleted files, WITHOUT SUSPICIOUS. If your devices consist of pirated or illegally downloaded videos / musics or other illegal contents, you will be in trouble.

Delete your files before you go to US is useless, as they can be recovered.

Possible solutions:
1. on your laptop, install Truecrypt (open source, cross-platform, http://www.truecrypt.org/) or FreeOTFE (open source, available on Windows and Windows mobile only, http://www.freeotfe.org/). These 2 software let you create virtual partitions which you can store your files. You will need passwords to open/mount the virtual partitions.

2. And, use KillDisk (http://www.killdisk.com/) to Wipe the free space on your storage devices. Because, if you move your files to the virtual partition created by Truecrypt or FreeOTFE, the word "move" in computing actually means "copy the files to another folder then delete it from the original folder", deleted files can still be recovered from the original folder. That is why you need to wipe the free space of your storage device.
