hi, im on a DIY egpu project, I would like to ask for suitable portable psu.

i have
x1 PE4L 2.1b http://www.hwtools.net/adapter/PE4L-EC000A.html

now need
x1 GPU
x1 compatible PSU

because only fermi/kepler do PCI-E compression so my choice is one of those only. i saw garage sale someone selling 2nd hand gtx 560, 2nd hand gtx580, i want to ask what PSU should i buy to match that. (i was suggested to get a gtx 660ti + cx430 PSU)

i dont want a full ledge ATX PSU like corsair cx430, got something portable like this? i think he bought a small one that can fit inside that DIY box. i want to DIY a box that can fit my PSU n GPU also.

Then best is to go LYP. But I can vouch for them. Very good sellers here, done several transactions before. No Need to worry, everything legit and proper.

Hi guys,

Need help in buying a new pc. Not sure if this is ok cause I don't see other people asking this question around here.  I'm not very pro in pc lingo (eg: overclocking?) but I'll try my best to give you guys more details.

What I intend to do with the PC: Graphics software (lightroom, photoshop, illustrator, occasional after effects and video editing), gaming (I play some first person shooter games but the graphics dont have to be at highest levels) + all usual stuff like internet, office etc etc

My budget: 2.5k, could be more or less depends on your suggestions. Also I don't need a monitor and speakers as I already have them.

Here's the vague part, would appreciate it if anyone could suggest a suitable specs for my requirements above and also tips on cooling, power supply, etc. Kinda frustrating when you get home with a new comp then after a few days you just realise there's a tonne of problems with it.

Also, where's the best place to get a desktop in KL? Still lowyat? IF it's possible I hope to get everything in one shop, or at least just 2 shops that are nearby.

Also I might want to get one within a few days, as I'm heading back to my uni and my desktop harddisk just crashed so I'm leaving that at home for repairs.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Can consider

Intel core I5 3450 rm564
MSI h77ma-g43 rm319
Kingston value 4gb x2 rm124
Sapphire hd 7870 ghz edition 2gb rm839
WD blue 1tb rm249
Liteon dvdrw rm59
Fsp hexa 500w rm149
Aero cool strike x one advance rm139

Total rm2442, all prices from viewnet except GPU from lingloong @ garage sales . I'm not sure shops in lowyat has updated their prices for sapphire card as the company recently has a big price cut for most of their cards

Thanks notworthy.gif From my limited knowledge that looks pretty good tongue.gif If I give the salesman this list as a reference it should be ok right? Still have lots to research before I decide of course.

ok, thanks smile.gif
checked viewnet's pricelist and what is listed is Xeon E3-1240 V2 RM849.
from what I googled, seems to be pretty close performance to i7 3770. So I go ahead with this one? biggrin.gif

and another thing, what I should be looking for in the GC specs now is the CUDA cores / shader units right? Besides the raw performance...since it's for MATLAB hmm.gif
*
E3-1230V2 already enuf IMO..it has 3770's kinda performance but only in i5's price range.

Regarding the GPU,it is recommended to have a good GPU.the pricier, the better..why?because pricey GPU has better features which could support MATLAB apps in handy rather than the cheaper ones.. smile.gif

Yes the PSU can support . Tell your friend if the pc is mainly for gaming , not doing any 3d rendering stuff , no need i7 , an i5 is enough , use the money for an SSD is better

Can consider some alternative like

Mobo - asus p9x79 le rm825 (total 8 ram slot compare to the above , also Asus has better after sales service compare to gg)
PSU - enermax naxn 650w rm269 (cheaper yet more power , also one of the most reliable PSU maker)
Cooler - noctua nh-d14 rm273 (cex) - cheaper yet better performance compare to the above
