Agreed. As an Arsenal fan, I rather AW sell Walcott and start Oxade-Chamberlain.

Walcott may be fast but it is very frustrating watching him. Once in a while he will do some super dribbling and skip past 3 defenders and score a goal, but most of the time he'll just end up losing the ball. And by most of the time i mean 90% of the time.

He's as fast as Usain Bolt but still lacks a footballing brain.
*
Exactly my thoughts. biggrin.gif When both Arsenal and England see the young Ox as the better and brighter player, it does say something about Walcott.

was wondering this too. we have fell way down if we have resorted to nurture other team for a season then give them back. loan and buy option should be in the contract clause.
*
Yeah paying about 4-5m and 60-70k a week for a one season loan is pretty pricey to be honest. But let's face it, looking at where we are now we are no longer a club most players will dream of playing for. But assuming Sahin does turn out good for us by helping us regain a top 4 spot, then surely this loan deal is justified. When we get back that coveted CL spot, the bigger talents will be less reluctant to sign for us. Heck he might even fall in love with our club and decide to stay and help propel us to greater heights. Ohhhh optimistic me... biggrin.gif

Alex Ferguson will not even sell a rusty metal to us, what's more a dangerous striker. forget it.
business dealings with Man Utd is not possible. It's been more than 30 years since the last transfer.

He wouldn't even let Heinze join us rclxms.gif

QUOTE(leftist @ Aug 29 2012, 04:25 PM)
a winger who cant cross is not a true winger..he may not good enough to be a forward at arsenal, but he definitely good enough as a forward at liv rite now..BR has said liv need goals from all over the place...with downing we cant get that..but with Walcott he'll give u goals + assist
*
He hasn't been able to provide enough goals and assists for both Arsenal and England hence criticism of his lack of product and consistency. At 15m 100k per week its a BIG BIG rip off. Have we not learnt a lesson with Carroll, Downing, Henderson? If we were to be patient for a season maybe then add some more transfer funds to that 15m to make it say 20-25m surely we can sign someone with real quality who is much better than Walcott.

Added on August 29, 2012, 4:34 pmWouldn't be surprised to see Citeh make a move for Walcott, we should know by now how Mancini is obsessed with Arsenal players. biggrin.gif

2010/2011 - 13 Goals 9 Assists

2011/2012 - 11 Goals 13 Assists
apart from Gerrard and Suarez, i cant see any liv player came close those stats..we need players that can score goals, and Walcott will give u that
*
True but he was playing with the scoring-machine in RVP. Had we have someone who can score like RVP would we have missed all those goal post chances last season? Just some food for thought.

That's pretty good imo. We paid like 40mil or so for Downing and Hendo and their combined stats don't even match up against Walcott and we're making noise about paying 10mil for Walcott.
*
I guess we are now paying the price for overspending on a bunch of average players.

Since we are talking about money, I cant help but to tell you guys how much I have to endure as a Liverpool fan when my friends supporting Scum United laughing at us for spending $35 million on Andy Caroll when Sergio Aguero just cost 5 million more on $40 million.

No more stupid spending. It's not just heartbreaking, it's embarrassing. We are like rookie in business dealings. Easily get conned.
*
I feel you. sad.gif

And the joke goes on now with the signing of Hazard for 32m even lesser than Carroll. 40m for both Henderson and Downing too means we could theoretically have gotten both Hazard and Aguero with 8m spare change.

you guys seems to forget about the players salary.... aguero, balotelli, mata and hazard all raking more than 100k a week while carrol is no more than 60k (if the report is correct).. so 5 years contract + than 20++ millions is way more costly.

the club can pay that big because the money from selling torres. but can't sustain paying big wages.. i dont really know its true or not but gerrard is the only one in our club that earn more than 100k/week.

I most probably left some but liverpool best transfers after 2000 should be Hyppia, Alonso, Agger and maybe Gary Mac.
*
True but taking into account of what they can offer compare to what Carroll and friends can't offer? At least we are paying them big money for something rather than paying Andy & Co. some money for virtually nothing because lets be honest if spending 75m on 3 players gives you 8th place then we could have done much better. People talk about the potential of Jordan and Andy and yes I do hope so but in how many years? Those dealings had set us back so many years by the time they turn worthy of that price tag we will be too far off the pace.

On another note...

Holyshats can't believe someones really willing to fork up that money for Hulk, thought no one was ever going to do it even for Chelsea. shocking.gif

I tot the deal wit Carroll was chelsea have to pay us 15m + Carroll. Meaning if we can get him a 20m. Torres will only cost them 35m. If Carroll cost us 45m then chelsea will have to pay us 60m for Torres. Pls tell if I'm wrong.
*
Yup you are wrong.

Added on August 30, 2012, 3:42 pmNew stuff boys! Apparently Liverpool is interested in Fernando Llorente now and Walcott will remain at Arsenal.

http://www.teamtalk.com/papertalk/8033275/...p-Llorente-move?
*
Mmmm Llorente is pretty good player. Like many other Spanish players he is much better than Carroll in terms of pace, technique, dribbling, finishing and he is even taller than Big Andy. With 1 year left on his contract he shouldn't cost too much. Though I think he reportedly unhappy with life under Bielsa but only willing to move to a CL club and with Juventus interested I don't think he fancy us much.

problem is i don't see much ROI in getting dempsey, correct me if i'm wrong but he's pretty old right? Sturridge and walcott? more midfielders?
*
Yeah Dempsey is 29 quoted at 10m. Walcott quoted at 15m. Even though I'm not a fan of Walcott but he is the better option here if the asking price can be lowered to in the region of 10m. He can give us that injection of pace we sorely need since Sterling is the only one who can provide that at the moment.

Llorente has a 30m buyout clause apparently, and I don't think we're gonna wanna spend 30m on another player again. Was just thinking about Sturridge. Before he got pushed to a right wing role, he was actually a pretty good forward at Chelsea and Bolton wasn't he?
*
Only 1 year left on Llorente's contract so anything is possible but with Juventus interested I don't think we stand a chance. Sturridge is pretty good yes but he lacks teamwork and too selfish from what I've seen, and he isn't exactly a good finisher if that is what we are after.

Not sure how pacy Sahin and Assaidi are though. Right now I feel the genuine lack is a goalscorer.
*
Sahin is not at all pacey, he is more like a Xabi Alonso, slow but very good at passing. As for Assaidi, still unproven so I can't really judge because Youtube makes even El Zhar look good.

Huh? Many websites quoted Sahin as pacy and mobile with an eye on goal. I've never watched him play though. Assaidi does look like a very tricky winger that can really dribble well. We wont know until we see him perform.
*
He is good at set pieces, can strike the ball well from distance. Mobile maybe, pacier than Alonso but definitely wouldn't qualify as a pacey player so don't expect him to run past defenders with the ball. Like Alonso he is very good at long range passing, just hope he wouldn't end up like Adam.

Serious? Why we need long range passer when we are going to adopt short passes strategy via tiki taka? And with Caroll gone or on the bench, the long range passing seems odd to me. He's a good option for free kick though. However, I still favor Gerrard and Suarez for free kick.
*
Yeah he is good at long range passing but I expect him to be as good with short passes. biggrin.gif

Assaidi is ineligible because he played in Europa qualifying matches for FC Twente. Sahin's registration hasn't gone through yet.

Danny Sturridge is facing the exit door at Chelsea.

The Daily Star says Chelsea’s Sturridge has been linked with a move to Liverpool and has played just 22 minutes against Reading.

If Chelsea land Andre Schurrle of Bayer Leverkusen, it is likely Sturridge will be allowed to leave.

Ugh helping Chelsea fund a bid for another superstar in the making in exchange for Sturridge?!

True. By the way who is this Samed Yesil guy that we just signed? So sudden.

Just rumours, I don't see this news appearing anywhere else yet. But he looks pretty talented to me. Germany is definitely the place to look for young attacking talents in wake of their recent resurgence.

QUOTE
Date of birth: 25/5/94

Club: Bayer Leverkusen

Position: Striker

Games: 7

Goals: 6

Assists: 7

Plays like: A Dennis Bergkamp-Samuel Eto'o hybrid

Criminally neglected in the awards for the tournament’s top three players, Yesil would have run away with the Golden Ball had Germany won the final. Even at 17, the Dusseldorf native is a remarkably complete centre forward: he has the physique and ruthless scoring instinct of a striker, but the technique and playmaking ability of a creative midfielder. The Leverkusen man may not have scored against Brazil, but his trio of assists - a Zidane-style turn and cut-back, an inspired through-ball, and a clever back-heel - showcased his versatility.

Yesil has already been linked with Arsenal, although Leverkusen were wise to commit him to a contract until 2016. More importantly for Germany, the player’s father revealed on Monday that his son intends to play for the Mannschaft in the future.
