John is talking kok, If they can afford another 1Mil, Dempsey could have scored 3 goals and won us the match.

Moreover Dempsey is from the US too, John's countryman. Br is really disappointed with the loss of Dempsey too.

Wow you can predict the future? rclxms.gif

If you watched the game you would have noticed the problem is more than just an ineffective strikeforce. The entire team is ineffective from the supply line to our goalie. Strikers not scoring Midfielders not creating Defenders making mistakes Keeper blundering. Unlike the City game where we showed some quick slick passing, we also showed that we are hungry, we want the ball more, we had 2 or 3 players closing down to get the ball back like a pack of wolves every time City gets the ball. That hunger was missing in the Hearts, West Brom, Hearts again and Arsenal game. I'm not asking for a result, I would be satisfied even with a defeat against Arsenal had we reproduce that form from the City game.

FALCAO? I would pay $200 to contribute to the Liverpool trust fund to sign him. biggrin.gif
If only we can gather money from the millions of fans, we can sign anyone. hehe

Yeah I do wonder about that too sometimes. If we can get every fan to contribute 1 pound, that's a lot eh? My guess is its probably against some rules. But does it apply for fan owned clubs like Barca and Madrid? Is that why they are so feckin rich?

Terribly disappointed and frustrated to see how our team started this season. Work-in-progress is ok but we must pinpoint exactly what is going so wrong and take some drastic steps if necessary.

Henry's open letter is obviously one management response, but is useless in itself.

In my opinion, BR has to take some drastic and bold steps; and here are a few that are foremost on my mind :

1) rotate our goalkeeper - Reina is no longer as sharp, no thanks to having to chop the PL tree, the Carling cup tree, the Europa tree and the FA cup tree - use Jones or Doni! if they are really not good enough, then get a better reserve goalie!
2) start replacing Gerrard - whilst he's still admired by Reds fans, and not wait until fans start condemning him - start replacing by substituting him and then gradually start him on the bench. BR has to start implementing this immediately!
3) manage Suarez - yes, he's super wearing the Uruguay shirt but he's not delivering for us. Get him to stop complaining, stop gesturing (and getting unnecessary yellow cards) and start focusing on scoring or helping the team score more!

Spot on about Suarez, he complains way too much and does too little constructive things for the team. Rotating goalie is not yet an option Doni and Jones are not good enough. Maybe we should have gotten Lloris to challenge Reina, it has been too long since someone has challenged his spot on the team.

It's mystifying to see Reina and Gerrard massive drop of form lately. Maybe they are not used to the system as one website suggest?
Agree on the Suarez part. It's part of him and it will take a long time for him to change that. Look at Shrek (Rooney). He's tempestuous and now he has tone down mostly. But it took a long long time.

Gerrard perhaps but would be weird to say Reina isn't used to playing in this system. He was brought up playing this type of football wasn't he?

Despite the loss, there's still some positive to take from that. Sterling in my opinion is better than Ox, at least based on what we saw last night.

If Sterling had Ox's physique, he would be awesome. Right now physically he isn't there yet but I'm excited to see what he can produce in the next few years.

As for Gerrard, I don't know what has gone wrong with his passing in the past year or so. Not as pinpoint as I would expected it to be. Probably 3 seasons of bad finishes in the league is taking its toll on captain fantastic?

Reina - Also another mystery. 3 errors already so far this season. And imo he didn't have a great year last season too. 2 matches in a row against Arsenal at Anfield he's made a mistake.

And btw, I'm not sure whether it's just me but I think perhaps Borini doesn't do enough defensively. I only watched the first half yesterday and the right side of out defence was exploited far too often imo.

Do you watch Match of the Day? biggrin.gif

Analysis of our game was that Glen Johnson was often roaming and running too far up the pitch where he was the furthest upfront even ahead of our forwards. So when he loses the ball, the right flank is there to be exploited. You can see that clearly in Podolski's goal. Of course he plays best as an attacking wing back but only if there is someone is there to do the defensive work for him, in the past there is Kuyt and then preseason there is Downing, now perhaps Borini should be doing it but he is a goalscorer it makes no sense for him to stay back when Glen roams forward.

We always advise youngsters not to leave their current job without first securing another.  It's a bit like counting your chickens before they hatch or just presumption or (pushing it to the extreme) recklessness.

Letting Carroll go without securing another striker is stupid - we're no longer a CL team; nobody will just come when you want them to and having bosses who are penny-wise does not help either.

It's even more pathetic when we already had one expensive episode not so long ago : letting go Torres and then looking for a replacement! Yes circumstances may have been different with Torres' case, but it was a lesson to be learnt - who is to say that Sturridge won't turn out to be another misfiring striker once he puts on the red shirt!

Yes, I'm all for developing and launching young talents like Sterling (and hopefully others to come) but they will need time to achieve consistency over a season.

I'm in favour of getting Owen back, provided his wage demand (more like request at his age) is reasonable. Somehow whenever he played, he looked dangerous even during his last few matches for the Mancs. I know alot of Reds absolutely loathe him, but this is professional football!

Yes pretty sure BR was promised by someone that he will get a replacement but sadly we have no idea who that is.

As Lawrenson has pointed out, my opinion is Owen is only playing for money now. If we offered him a pay per goal or pay per play contract, pretty sure he would choose Stoke over us. For a club as big as Liverpool and for a local lad who was a Hero to all Scousers, playing for a rival is a big big taboo so crossing the divide to play for the Manures was the last straw. What's worse is you are now telling me we are gonna take him back right after his Manure stint. This traitor went to them called them the greatest club and when he got dumped we are gonna take him back?! Hell NO!

If Drogba sounds too far fetched then perhaps Anelka would be the cheaper alternative but he might still have a grudge for us.
