Hi Benar

Thanks for your reply, but it did not helps. It seems to other way round. (as they regretted that she was not coming for SRD).

As she is the one who informed them about her non availability for  SRDs twice (due to prior commitments, non interest  of position avaibale at that time).

She was told that though it is last SRD for the year but they would call her again if any position become available (withing this year and she needed to repply if nothing happen this years).

I hope some one who has real knowledge could clarify this.

I know cases where people were notified they failed the first interview, but somehow were called again, so there might still be some hopes.

well i guess it is because of the nature of job you are applying. nothing to be nervous bro.. just be yourself. well basically if you pass the first interview and called to attend srd shows that you have the quality neeed. this goes to everyone. anyway srd is lots of fun, take it like a summer class, and doing an assignment presentation..hahaha thrust me..

TIPU,

Regretted = doesnt meet assessment requirements ie failed te interview, etc.
Rejected = candidate rejected call for interview, etc.

Shell will keep in view all failed, regretted, rejected resumes for 1 yr (profile matching) should there wud be suitable vacancy available...
After 1 yr, its clean slate...

Thanks for explanation, but in her case she did passed the interview. Apparently she meet the assessment requirements and invited for SRD twice (which she did not attend once due to prior commitments, second time she found position available of no interest to her). In fact the interviewer told her that she was one of better applicants.

Yet her status showing "regretted"

It is confusing now.

Actually i am thinking since she did not failed, but given her previous refusal to attend SRDs twice they may not want call her again. is there anyway to revive her application as her current job is a bit unstable due to recent financial crisis?

TIPU,

When one applied for Shell, the candidate has to go through several stages of assessments. Failure at any one of the stages would result in regretted feedback. Say in ur fren's case, she got rejected initially... but her CV is kept-in-view by Shell for future vacancy for 1 yr.That's why she got invited for the SRD. But, SRD is another (last) stage of interview/assessment. If I'm not mistaken, application revival is not possible for 1 yr, or depending company's discretion, because probably somebody else has been hired to fill the post, etc.

Just to let u know, to pass the initial interview and subsequently get invited to SRD is the most difficult stage for Shell application. The SRD passing rate is much2 higher compared to the initial interview passing rate. All I can advise is for her to apply again...

I always thought otherwise. Initial is easier while SRD is tougher. My friend who applied with me passed the first interview- infact he could not make it to SRD (twice- he was offered again).

My experience with the SRD from a friend of mine was that the passing rate 2 out of 6. Another guy; candidate at the SRD I attended, told me of his friend's SRD was 1 out of 8.

In any case, be yourself (really) and be honest (really really). At my SRD, we were asked to share about what we know about the company, the first candidate was like spewing out detailed info about them plus their operations and... *gaping eyes*. I was the 2nd one and damn s***. Took a deep (mental) breath and I just told the lady I don't know much about them but I heard that they reward good work with good smile.gif.

Basically they drill down to see if you got the right mindset that's all. This advice is especially applicable for fresh grads where we have ZERO exp to speak of. Experienced hires can have it much better as the recruiting procedure is much different from what I have heard (as with large MNCs).

Hope this helps.

She found that even though if you are suitable for company but if they feels they do not have job matching you skill they would call you far interview.

Same thing happens to her, she get her rejection letter just few days after her application, later they called her for interview explaining that she she was rejected because no match for her. Once they found suitable position they called her. Unfortunately by then she committed for 6 month assignment feels ethically not right to leave abruptly.

That was the reason she declined to attend SRD.

On other side it is difficult pass SRD then interview, like her case they have invited 6 peoples for one position obviously only one is going to be successful.

By the way when her one year starts from date of application or date of so called regret?

Best regards.

Forgot 1 key point, for fresh grads... SRD is in a group of 5-6 normally... maybe 1 or 2 wud get selected, maybe none. But for experienced hire, SRD is solo, u r the sole candidate...

In ur fren's case is what like I've mentioned earlier, even tho she's been rejected, her cv is kept in view for suitable post to come up. She was rejected for the post that she's applied, and called for SRD for a different post that Shell feels match her profile better... Not to sure abt the 1 yr grace starting point tho...

Thanks depster666

she was fresh graduate.

Anyway it is already past, she have to wait till march before applying again.

Hopefully no more stupid mistake (offers from IBM and shell only called after she has taken a 6 month assignment on contract, feels morally obliged to complete before moving on).

And now economy turn bad and jobs are drying up. I wonder if her high moral decision would haunt her once.

It seems that most of you will be attending the SRD for fresh graduate which is tougher than SRD for Experience Hire . Shell is not looking for just "any normal fresh graduate" but also looking for potential Leaders. Just imagine every 6 months, you have to do a presentation to the top people on your performance, training result, career plan etc! So HR expect you presentation skills to be tip-top. So my advice to you guys, make sure you practise and enhance your presentation skills to impress HR.
