QUOTE(tishaban @ Nov 12 2008, 11:16 AM) In my experience, having someone in Shell refer you will help you from being weeded out automatically by the system. However you will still have to go through the proper interview channels and you will still have to pass the interviews. Shell has a nice employee referral program so if the position you're applying for is in the list then your friend will get the US$1800 bonus or however much the referral program pays now. However your friend is in HR so there are strict rules against HR and management referring anyone for a job (conflict of interest). Shell is very strict in this so if I were in the HR position I don't want to be involved. There are other less risky ways of getting into Shell Good luck! Added on November 12, 2008, 11:18 amI don't know about accounting but I've known colleagues who were certified for CISSP, PMP, Prince2 etc. So they do sponsor certifications in general. you think they would sponsor me to get my project management certificate from Project management institute when i get in. it would be a lot of help if they can, it is kindda of expensive to sit for the course and exam.

Good luck lar u all. FYI the Graduate Scheme can get yearly increment of 25% average, Damn good and crazy! Max can reach 34%.....
So if start basic salary RM 2600 and you work with normal performance no promotion 1st increment = 2600*1.25=3250 2st increment = 3250*1.25=4062.5 3st increment = 4062.5*1.25=5078.125
So after 3 years working in shell in graduate scheme you will normally over 5k....
After you have 3 years experience the increment will be back to normal market rate.

Getting Started

|
Shell Recruitment Day is usually held at the middle of the month (for Miri).
You need to pass the 1st interview before you are invited to a SRD.
To get to the 1st interview, you need to apply to Shell for a position/graduate. If they think you fulfill the criterias required, they will invite you for the 1st interview. You have the option of doing it over the phone or face2face. For those in KL, will be done at Shell office in Jalan Damansara.

Getting Started

|
Technical SRD are mostly held in Miri, as Miri is the Technical Hub for Shell in Malaysia. Corporate jobs are mostly in KL. If you are invited to the SRD in Miri, then mostly you will be posted in Miri if you are hired.
By Technical, I mean technical jobs, mostly Engineering. IT is mostly based in Cyberjaya.

Just gave Shell's interview. Learned quite a bit from this forum .. so trying to give back to community thumbup.gif ... 1st part - career preferences.. simple.. no assessment 2nd part - behavioural part - what do you consider as your most cherish accompolishment? followup question.. what did you learn from it? how did you actually achieve it.. process.. what did you do exactly? how did you manage different interests of parties involved? ... THEN NEXT EXAMPLE.. give an example of being in a team where you did not agree with your team members? how did you manage this conflict? and what was the result? ... again more details.. how did you do this.. step by step.. (really detailed approach and issues/challenges are asked) 3rd part - analyze one of the four issues - (sorry, I cant remember all four but only 3 - Global Standards; Energy Demand-Supply; Shell's Corporate Reputation. I choose Energy Demand-Supply challenge.. they will provide starting point in the discussion and then guide you or ask open-ended questions about the topic.. based on your responses.. [READ, READ and READ more... learn about issues important to Oil& Gas Industry - I talked about - Sustainability; Energy-efficieny; Developed economy & Developing economy's consumption, Educating consumers; Alternative Fuels; Greener Fuels from Carbod sources; Low-carbon economy; Regulation; Aligning interests of all major stakeholders; Collaborating with competitors; customers; suppliers to generate ideas; --- summary Economic; Technological; Social and Political dimensions] ... I guess my interview went ok.. just waiting for a response now. Hope this is helpful for readers. >> Just got the call - I am IN for Gourami This post has been edited by vinayrsm: Nov 18 2008, 12:22 AM
