Helo guys,
Been offered to join Shell (Upstream wells dept.), fresh graduate here, I have read through the forum and have few questions to ask here:
1) since Shell abolished the relocation allowance and others benefits, but there is still many people wanted to join shell..why?? because of??? is there any other benefits to compensate in order to keep Shell as competitive company status in O&G industry??
2) Is the 25% increment in salary per annum still valid for graduate employee (Job Group 'G')? what is the latest info? mind to share?

3) Will trainee engineer have a chance to go offshore during 1st year? If yes, means they will get paid RM3K thru the rooster rotation (14/14)??
Thanks and hope u guys can help me to clarify this...

appreciate it a lot!!
1. Actually Shell is a good company for freshies. You get tonnes of training, mentoring (if u get the right coach) and hands on work.
2. Increment for freshies are not bad. in the range of RM 1k - 2k for the first 3 years. This is to push your salary to market rate.
3. If u r in the related dept and require offshore exposure/working in offshore environment then it is possible.

Anyone ever notices that they are mostly inviting East Malaysians for phone interview and Shell Recruitment Day for the technical positions?
My SRD was attended by ALL East Malaysian candidates who were studying at different public and private universities in Malaysia. The same thing happened to my friends' SRD - either all East Malaysians or 5 out of 6 were. No diversity or whatsoever. Maybe they are trying to save cost by hiring locals to work for their operations in East Malaysia. Or there is a quota imposed to hire locals? In some cases, more than half of the candidates came from the same race.
Also, they didn't pick the most outstanding and powerful two or three candidates. Instead, they went for the mediocre and somewhat socially awkward candidates who couldn't even express themselves well in English. So to those who are going to attend their SRD, play your card right.
From what i understand, the local gov policy require them to hire 1 sarawakian for 1 non sarawakian. So the West malaysians are competing with the sabahan as well.
From my personal view, hiring West malaysian will cost more (human capital) as WM will want to lresign/eave to go back to west malaysia after several years but if they hire sarawakian, the rate of resignation is lower.
