Hey I have submitted an application for my internship last May or June (can't remember correctly). Then I applied again and this is what I get under "submit application"

I'm sorry it appears you have already submitted an application. If you submitted an application within the last 12 months unfortunately you will need to wait for 12 months before you can reapply.
So what does it mean? Do I have to wait 12 months FROM NOW ON to reapply or 12 months from my last application in May/ June 2011??

Anyone ever notices that they are mostly inviting East Malaysians for phone interview and Shell Recruitment Day for the technical positions?

My SRD was attended by ALL East Malaysian candidates who were studying at different public and private universities in Malaysia. The same thing happened to my friends' SRD - either all East Malaysians or 5 out of 6 were. No diversity or whatsoever. Maybe they are trying to save cost by hiring locals to work for their operations in East Malaysia. Or there is a quota imposed to hire locals? In some cases, more than half of the candidates came from the same race.

Also, they didn't pick the most outstanding and powerful two or three candidates. Instead, they went for the mediocre and somewhat socially awkward candidates who couldn't even express themselves well in English. So to those who are going to attend their SRD, play your card right.

So you are one of the most outstanding, powerful, and excellent candidate not picked, because you didnt play your card right?

I believe I carried myself very well. And I actually followed the advices posted by you around this forum when I attended it. Among them were "be yourself" and "avoid being the attention seeker, asskisser etc".. but when I was surrounded by a group of passive and quiet candidates, it was made hard to tone down my outspokenness. Maybe I should have been as quiet as them. At last, candidates with poor spoken English were chosen instead. Having said that, I believe they must have had some good qualities Shell is looking for. Otherwise, the assessors wouldn't have overlooked their poor language.

your first person account is an eye opener. Move on and prove that they have erred in not selecting you by joining other bigger, better companies. SLB, Baker, Exxon, etc.  smile.gif

you have been briefed in advance what they were looking for.
dont twist the facts and sway the minds of new candidates taking the SRD.

Socially awkward? well you really gotta reflect on yourself then.

It's understandable that you got defensive. Saying their recruitment sucks is basically questioning about your calibre as you are/ were one of their picks tongue.gif Anyway, can you deny that the confidence and quality of new fresh hires have not been on the par with.. lets say those hired many years ago?
flamingtorch (no offence, bro) is a reference as he is among one of the latest hires brows.gif
