also depends on how you perform during the telephone interview or if you submitted your application during the walk-in interview, make sure you strike a good first impression.

If you're asking for the sequence, i can write it up here :-)

On the 1st page of my CV
-personal information
-educational background
-software skills
-internship experience
-final year project
-leadership experience

2nd page
-internship projects and activitives (several pictures from my finished tasks)
-relevant courseworks projects and descriptions (put pictures as well)

3rd page
-academic course taken
-awards and achievements

4th page
-extra co-curricular activities
-references (i put my internship and fyp supervisors, since they all know me quite well)

Hope this will help u.
*
too long. no one is going to read beyond the first page. keep it short and sweet. trim the extra page, i.e 3rd and 4th page. extra co-curricular activities and referees put in 1st or 2nd page

SRD is only for Graduates with 3 years and below. With your >3years of experience, you should aim for experienced hire vacancies.

Wisma Chase Perdana, Season Parking Rm300/mth. Next door Clearwater, around the same price. Check out metro parking, they have plenty of carparks in the vicinity, but the season parking spot is very hard to come by. If you insist to drive to shell house but dont want to pay a bomb for season parking, try parking at metro carpark near menara millenium (Pusat bandar damansara - Rm150/mth) and walk 15mins(good way to lose weight) to Shell House. Else take the LRT to KL Sentral and take the shuttle bus.

QUOTE(Duke88 @ Jul 29 2012, 12:24 AM)
Helo guys,

Been offered to join Shell (Upstream wells dept.), fresh graduate here, I have read through the forum and have few questions to ask here:

1) since Shell abolished the relocation allowance and others benefits, but there is still many people wanted to join shell..why?? because of??? is there any other benefits to compensate in order to keep Shell as competitive company status in O&G industry??

2) Is the 25% increment in salary per annum still valid for graduate employee (Job Group 'G')? what is the latest info? mind to share? smile.gif

3) Will trainee engineer have a chance to go offshore during 1st year? If yes, means they will get paid RM3K thru the rooster rotation (14/14)??

Thanks and hope u guys can help me to clarify this... smile.gif appreciate it a lot!!
*
1. It is in the management view that the salary package for graduate package is still competitive among the Oil Majors in Msia, even without RA. If RA is so important to you, you can choose not to join Shell.

2. Increment is based on Individual Performance Factor, which is performance based. Hence, increment is not set at 25% for graduate.

3. If you are a Trainee Operation Engineer, yes. If you are not, you would have to ask for offshore exposure, usually wont last more than a week. That also if someone one the platform/vessel agrees to host you that long.

QUOTE(klein @ Jul 31 2012, 12:01 PM)
Anyone ever notices that they are mostly inviting East Malaysians for phone interview and Shell Recruitment Day for the technical positions?

My SRD was attended by ALL East Malaysian candidates who were studying at different public and private universities in Malaysia. The same thing happened to my friends' SRD - either all East Malaysians or 5 out of 6 were. No diversity or whatsoever. Maybe they are trying to save cost by hiring locals to work for their operations in East Malaysia. Or there is a quota imposed to hire locals? In some cases, more than half of the candidates came from the same race.

Also, they didn't pick the most outstanding and powerful two or three candidates. Instead, they went for the mediocre and somewhat socially awkward candidates who couldn't even express themselves well in English. So to those who are going to attend their SRD, play your card right.
*

So you are one of the most outstanding, powerful, and excellent candidate not picked, because you didnt play your card right?

I believe I carried myself very well. And I actually followed the advices posted by you around this forum when I attended it. Among them were "be yourself" and "avoid being the attention seeker, asskisser etc".. but when I was surrounded with a group of passive and quiet candidates, it was made hard to tone down my outspokenness. Maybe I should have been as quiet as them. At last, candidates with poor spoken English were chosen instead. Having said that, I believe they must have had some good qualities Shell is looking for. Otherwise, the assessors wouldn't have overlooked their poor language.

Dude, how many West Malaysians were there in your batch?

your first person account is an eye opener. Move on and prove that they have erred in not selecting you by joining other bigger, better companies. SLB, Baker, Exxon, etc. smile.gif

personally i prefer F2F interview. Sometime a bad reception of your phone could spoil your interview, just like wat my friend did, he got an interview from a dutch guys, due to the slang and his phone reception quality, he failed.

mostly phone interview is schedule for those who located oversea or those located in other city that would be inconvenience for them to attend F2F interview
*
Not true. Phone Interview is used as a screening method to ensure only qualified candidates attend the SRD. There are no geographical consideration in it. I was working in Klang Valley when I did the phone interview. It is more on Cost/Resources/Time consideration for them to screen candidates via Phone interview, rather than asking each candidate to come to the office for a 30mins interview after passing the first screening(CVs, Results, Qualification)
