Funny, went to sc about my squeaking brake noise, told me they changed both my brake cylinder for the front, noise still came back. I have no idea what it is now.

Dashboard noise, unresolved. 4th trip down tomorrow. Will update again.

Asked about my brake pads... They told me its fine. :/

It's made of ABS. Why not try to wrap the whole panel with carbon fiber sticker? If spray also easily scratch and peel the paint off.

Had that squealing brake issue when I was using OEM pads. My mech skimmed the leading edge of the pads a bit and the squeal was gone... until the pad wears down again and the squeal came back. Skimmed it a bit and the squeal gone and so on and on and on.

Changed to another brand of pads... no squeal! But these new pads, very dusty. Forgot what brand and stopping power is better than OEM.

Hey guys. My vios has just went through the 20k service. Told SC bout the squealing noise when I brake, they told me serviced my brakes and when I test drive with a person in the car, everything seems ok.

A week later problem came back... Any idea what it is?

Plus my dashboard noise also comes on and off... Just recorded it on my phone and will show SC when I go back. Right now more concerned about squealing noise from brakes, scared later accident....

Any idea anyone?

Added on September 24, 2012, 8:41 amIt is the bottom one just behind the gearshift. Just put you fingers under and pull. You need to get that out before you can pull out both the sides one. No need to use too much force.

Better yet, surf the youtube for how to dismantle vios or yaris dashboard.

QUOTE(Thunder_Bolt @ Sep 19 2012, 02:43 AM)
any tool needed? or just bare hands to pull and push the panel?

another question is, the bottom one and middle one behind gearshift are where you referring to?

when you mention OEM, meaning its original toyota brakes that came wtih the car itself?

i had my brake cylinder replaced, both front ones. still the noise came back after a day.

am thinking to send my car in again but just didn't have the time to do that.....sigh.

if its nothing serious then i wouldn't bother for now.

as for the dashboard noise, i tried googling the video for removing the dashboard on google/youtube. no luck. someone care enough to post the video here?

just opened the dashboard, taped black stellotape around the wire on the far left... sound minimised. put some sponge under the bar where the wire is, but still got abit noise..

mmm, then when i started driving my car, the seat belt chime went haywire for a bit. wonder if its because of the taping of the wire?

what are those wires under the dashboard for? theres also a button to the left near the odometer where the mileage is...

After 10000km on the road, going for my 3rd car service this coming Friday. I am thinking of to use full synthetic engine oil and heard it can last for 10000km mileage. In terms of saving time and money, I think it is worth.

Any advise from brother here...?

I've just gone for my 10k service last week. Using semi synthetic+Torco MPZ2
I plan to go for 10K as well. Just saw in tribetoyota that my next service is 20k for advance 2,3 and so forth. If i go for the basic at 15k, 25k service, they dun even change the oil filter, just the oil.

Dear all & sifu,
I've nvr service my car at Toyota sc ever since after the free service. My question is can I still go back to toyota to service my car? My car is 5yrs old now....they will charge me kaw kaw right!? Also, what's the different by servicing car at Toyota sc and outside car workshop? Which is better? Many thanks.

Unless there is something really wrong with the car, i won't go back to SC after the warranty.

They charge at premium as they try to bind consumers with the warranty.

Even though you do not have any warranty now, charges are the same.

Its really up to you.
Pay at premium at SC and peace of mind.
Or learn to know which part of the car needs minor/major maintenance and bring them to your regular mechanic.
(If you do have one)

Do not think that dropping your car to a regular Ah Beng workshop will ensure everything is fine with the car. There is a reason why the service record list every major/minor service itemised.

Mechanics won't be writing a diary for you, haha.

I'm slowly learning how to maintain a car properly and i just don't like paying at premium when i know whats best for my car at regular maintenance.
