Hi Guys,

I will be doing my 5000km service this Friday.

I am now trying very hard to find the things to be fix for my Vios.
here is the list i have made:-
1. Engine belt noise when cold start or after long hours driving.
2. Both front Door cable rattle when loud speaker or close door.
3. Front window visor not sticking.
4. Rust at wheel hub & disc brake.
5. side mirror does not contract/retract at same speed.
6. readjust hand brake to tighter.
7. in car power port is loose. move around alot when trying to access it.
8.

Can anyone suggest more things that i can fix? please advice, i will check on my car with all the suggested.

Thanks all in advance.

Cheers.

Wow, u have put a lot of complain for ur car reaching 5k.
Perhaps u can share feedback after ur service and let us know if that is a true defect.
This is from experience based from ur cases above.

1. Engine belt noise when cold start or after long hours driving. - haven't encounter this yet
2. Both front Door cable rattle when loud speaker or close door. - haven't encounter this yet.
3. Front window visor not sticking. - Can check and adhesive reapply by SC is u buy the G or TRD spec visor.
4. Rust at wheel hub & disc brake. - my G spec disc brake rusty only. my wheel hub still OK.
5. side mirror does not contract/retract at same speed. - me too. as long it can operate to close and open, doesn't bother me much.
6. readjust hand brake to tighter. - personal preference. i'm ok as long my car dun budge from P and parking brake applied on a hilly area.
7. in car power port is loose. move around alot when trying to access it. - mine can nudge up and down a bit. not sideways. I'm not worried as long it works with my ionizer.
I think that's the freeplay that toyota have set. if too stiff, then might break the device etc. i might be wrong.

If you notice a rattling sound during idle, ask them to check the exhaust part. They will re tighten the exhaust if required.

My car will be reaching 10K service. I will probably use full syn and top up with Torco MPZ2.

Mineral oil these days can go up to 7K.
It's up to the owner to replace every 5K if they wish. The extra K is just for reserve in case the owner is to busy to send the car for servicing. biggrin.gif

Any car brand is a liability and have their own problem.
Luckily Toyota parts is not sold at Ferrari pricing level.

Hi, anyone here encountered before Vios near radio unit there produces weird noise, such as some small piece of stone or sand jumping around when the car moves through un-even roads.

Anyone here got this problem fixed so far? I believe many people face this as I remember last time someone used to feedback this at here as well.
*
What year is ur vios? NCP43 or NCP93?
Some ppl face this issue, just mention this problem to Toyota SC when u send for servicing.

Changed to use Petronas and my dugong accelerates smoother and easier. Previously using Esso. Used to have problem when I want to accelerate after slowing down to cross speed bump, like the gear in N (RPM up but no power). Now rarely got this problem. Not sure why, but I'll use Petronas from now on.
*
Ur case is the total opposite of mine. I've used Petronas RON95 and feel the lack of power and pickup. With Shell, the power and pickup felt more obvious. laugh.gif

You guys have any recommendation to help get rid of this stain?

Been browsing ENEOS, can't seem find any leather cleaner... all seems is conditioner only.

Appreciate any help icon_question.gif

You ever use before this brand?
I know Meguiars is quite the branded stuff, just wondering if it really will work ....

Looking for brand recommendation, really. I bought cheap version, just to cubatry, and it didn't work.
*
I bought mine at Parkson. Price is RM 57.00 but I have parkson voucher.

The item is 2 in 1 spray Cleaner and Conditioner.
Every products have nice smells to them. I used their car shampoo, wax and few items from Meguiars. No complain. Highly recommended.
Even their wax smells like perfume. thumbup.gif

Now they have new packaging below.

It's made of ABS. Why not try to wrap the whole panel with carbon fiber sticker? If spray also easily scratch and peel the paint off.

when you mention OEM, meaning its original toyota brakes that came wtih the car itself?

i had my brake cylinder replaced, both front ones. still the noise came back after a day.

am thinking to send my car in again but just didn't have the time to do that.....sigh.

if its nothing serious then i wouldn't bother for now.

as for the dashboard noise, i tried googling the video for removing the dashboard on google/youtube. no luck. someone care enough to post the video here?

After 10000km on the road, going for my 3rd car service this coming Friday. I am thinking of to use full synthetic engine oil and heard it can last for 10000km mileage. In terms of saving time and money, I think it is worth.

Any advise from brother here...?
*
I've just gone for my 10k service last week. Using semi synthetic+Torco MPZ2
I plan to go for 10K as well. Just saw in tribetoyota that my next service is 20k for advance 2,3 and so forth. If i go for the basic at 15k, 25k service, they dun even change the oil filter, just the oil.

Anyone facing power window problem ?
Where hard to wind up at certain time.
According the The Star paper today, mentioned that Toyota recalling car manufactured in year 2006 onwards for the defects.

Did anyone been rectify these issue at service centre ?
What happen if those car owners stop their routine at service centre ? Are these group still entitled to claim from service centre even stop servicing at service centre ??

Constructive comments are appreciated.

Thank you

Note : posted one at old thread.
*
For safety reason, the recall should apply to all affected model even though you service outside.
According to them, they will call the owner to make an appointment. It might affect certain batch although manufactured on the same year.

going to service my vios for the 5K service (actually meter now at 4890km) tomorrow..
if according to date i got until Oct 23, 2012 for service but somehow i think that using Mineral Engine oil during my first service makes the car feel heavy at the end of the 5K engine oil age...

so this time around going for Semi-syn and see if i can get at least until 11K km before i went back for another service...

btw i'm a "jimat" version of Vios .. biggrin.gif

any thought ?

kuman
*
Hi kuman, suggest that try the semi sync to feel the difference. "Car heavy" meaning the pickup from stand still is slow?

Been using semi sync all the way after 1K coz the price difference is not that much. Use the e-voucher to cover the cost. biggrin.gif

just checked with them, they said they don't sell and install that new radio separately as accessories, they only provide it pre-installed upon placing order for the new vehicle.  shakehead.gif

The E and G spec have the same player model. Looks like the same model that was installed to the S'pore variant.
Perhaps can find seller in auto garage sales.

yeah... should be similar to Singapore's G spec player... but then if G spec, need to change the panel also cos the previous one is integrated... tempted to change... maybe can give stockist a call later tongue.gif
*
kenji, do update us on the price for the new player.
Let me know if you plan to sell to other members in here.
I predict the price is less than 1K coz it's not touch screen.

u frm kuching? wan to ask u got change seat to leather? any shop recommend?
*
I bought G spec so no worries on that part.
What spec did u bought?
If E, can upgrade to leather seat both front and back.
If J, cannot change the back part as the seat cannot fold 60:40.

Perhaps can look in the automotive garage to find seller selling ori G or TRD leather combi seat cover.

u think is this neccessary to install this to reduce the noise and heat?

others say the heat will focus at the carpet make the bonet paint easily fade out, which is true?
*
Better to have it install. Buy ori or OEM.
It's not made of carpet material and will not fade the paint of ur bonet. Dun know who gives this idea. doh.gif
I think those ppl who say those might have bought the cheap stuff.

QUOTE(SWIFT88 @ Jan 12 2013, 07:34 PM)
Hi all, I am having some issue with my 6mth old vios (5,000km), there's crankling sound coming from the engine sometimes when accelerating. Besides that, there's also rattling sound from the dashboard (near the drawer and behind the meter) also noises from ard the front passenger side door.

When idling, the car seems to be vibrating a little bit when the RPM is near to 0.5.

Anyone got any suggestions to the problem?

Any recommendation which service centre in klang valley is the best for repair the defects?

Thanks!
*
You can call the service advisor and perhaps to arrange for another check up.
From ur response, it sounded like engine knocking. One of my friend ever encounter this issue and was resolved after he lodge a complain to them.
As for the dahsboard, mine also have the rattling sound but suddenly it's already gone.
A member here ever complain and they manage to solve the issue.

The mechanic of Toyota Service Bangi just replaced my battery today.
Yesterday my Vios cannot start, just sound "Treett treeett treeett"
when I twisted the key to trigger the engine. RM189.00 for
battery... Is that normal? Damn!! Expensive duh for me... How's your
experience if any? Car mati cannot start.
*
If you're driving the NCP43, then that price is the promotional price.
The new generation NCP93 should be cheaper at 159.
Check their website for the details before accusing Toyota of overcharging you.

I've just tried it out just now, now i know how it works brows.gif but a question, what is the main purpose of that button?
sorry I have zero knowledge on these, will take some time to understand engines when I'm free.. And I believe they are connected electrically.. What do you think they are?
*
The main purpose of the button is put the gear into N if your car is being towed during car breakdown or for maintenance reason.
