Anyone have a draft of the authorization letter.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17— The THB16 (RM2) payment commonly dubbed “tea money” for Thai passport control officers at the Malaysia-Thailand border in Kedah has been replaced with a RM3 entry fee.

This is pretty ridiculous for their government servant's OT paid by so called "coffee money" or "tea money". Each person generate so much but I believe their superior or government also get a piece of it. Now want to increase to RM3. Imaging if you handle 1000 visitors per day, you get RM3000 for OT money per day. One month you get RM90000. I could buy a Honda City just in one month. Wonder if they want to hire Malaysian or not. I want to apply as the immigration officer there. I work 6 months enough.

Bring the following

1. Original car registration card (if you bring the photocopy, it needs to be certified by the relevant authorities, which authority I'm not sure)
2. Authorisation letter by owner (just a simple letter signed by owner). There is no specific format to this but you may refer to the first post of this thread.
3. Photocopy of car owner's IC (and signed by him/her)

I saw the above list at the immigration counter at Sadao border.

I have not been to Betong for a long time and I don't recall seeing any huge carpark at the border.

I just remember the border is at a hill area, right?

Any changes to the immigration border yet?

Last time i went i saw that the new counters are completed but not opened to public yet. That means cars have to line up one by one.

The new office is semi operational as of the week of 20th of July.

Your car is still going to pass the old border office, hence the semi.

This time after pass our final police checkpoint in front of Duty Free, turn left into the new complex.

Probably alot of our fellow traveler here know this by now.

As this is still a hot period after the " tea money" fiasco, those who prefer to slip through without valid paperwork, please proceed with extreme care. From what i gather, still easy to slip through.

How much official OT money u have to pay to the officer is written clearly in English.

Cant wait when "tea money" is being restored.

Thanks for the update.

So, that means we don't have to park our cars (and get down to line up individually) after passing our final police checkpoint?

Just drive to the counter and queue car by car, right?

The OT money has to be paid in Baht? Is it 360 Baht?

Opps i think i didnt make myself clear.

You need to park your car in front of the new complex, get down go inside the new office and stamp your documents. When its done you enter with your car at the old place. The new counter for car is not open yet although everything seems to be completed.

OT money is 25 baht. Only need to pay at certain hour.

Thanks for the clarification!

Are there ample parking at the new complex?

Usually I will find a place to park at the roadside.

Just to clarify, any additional new documents needed? Still using the TM2 and TM3 documents, right?

Parking lot is ample but it has yet to tested by our long weekend holiday crowd, or the Songkran crowd.

You still can park at roadside as usual, walking distance is short anyway.

Still the same document, TM6 ( white embarkation card ) TM2 and TM3 for your vehicle.

Just wanna ask u where do u usually buy the thai car insurance?

Is it always the three foodcourts just before the border? The other day i was stucked in a queue together with a group of tourists. I wonder if there are any other better places to buy the thai car insurance.

Buy it at said food court or anywhere in Changlun that sells them. It is from the same company and the same price anyway.

You can also buy them at the border of Thailand.

I bought it at Changlun straight buy 1 year.

When there is thai police roadblock, most of the times it is the insurance they wanna see first.

Thanks

By the way, in the new complex, are there ample signboards inside the complex on where to queue to get your passport stamped and where to submit the TM2, TM3 documents?
