@Kaiser: Did you mean to say reds feel softer than browns? The bump does make a difference, doesn't it? I find the browns too sharp for my fingers. I much prefer MX clears.
I meant blues. As a comparison between blacks and greens. Typo there.
Wait till you try softer clears.

Brown feels "rough" due to the tactile part. Red is by far the best switch IMO. It's a compromise that many are willing to make though. Personally I'd take an MX blue and MX Red. One for gaming, and one (blue) is just so that I can show people that I own the most cliche mechanical keyboard (makes the most noise to show that it is a mechanical keyboard)
I wouldn't say that it is rough. Most calls it a bump. Reds feel more scratchy/rough on the way down due to the moment of the spring that is caused by the bottom of the red stem. Same could be felt with blacks. Blues are wonderful for typing.
If you don't know what i am talking about, put your ears close tk the seitch when it is actuated. You should hear the spring scratching the housing. This feel is translated all the way up to the key cap.

I'm looking for a soldering set/station for changing switches mainly, so it's small work but also quite delicate. I'd like temperature control because I want to avoid spoiling the electronics. (On the other hand, I'm OK about losing some switches.)
Does anyone have any recommendation? Something that can be purchased in Malaysia (vs importing)?
Things you'll need
Hakko fx888 via rs online. Not cheap.
Nice set of tweezers.
Desoldering braid lazed with flux. Cleans the pads right up.
Isopropanol/rubbing alcohol. I could not find any small bottles though. Pharmacy sometimes gives methylated ethanol and those do not work.
Thin core solder with flux
No clean flux, or for cheaper alternative, get the pros kit one but you need sme cleaning up. But it is cheap.
Personally, i have most of what i listed except a soldering station. Currentlly getting by with a 25w iron.
