Anybody here use keypads like Razer Tartarus/Orbweaver or the Logitech equivalent (discontinued I think) when painting? Curious.

I've integrate it in my workflow for the past 3-4 years in Photoshop, best ever investment! rclxms.gif
I've mapped hundreds of commands to date, so great of a feeling when you can navigate everything in PS on the fly while keeping your eyes and pen focused on the painting. Feels like Tom Cruise in Minority Report when you can navigate seamlessly without interrupting your flow lol

Using keyboards for shortcuts is one thing, but keypads are on a new level. Recommended.

I have actually thought of that once but since recently I got Artisul, I didn't think about it much because it comes with hotkeys and currently I used up all my available USB ports by now.

I've used to own Nostromo as my main gear as I'm using Apple Wireless Keyboard at that time. It was great at gaming, but sucks in productivity as the membrane keys harden over time and a bit too large for Asian hands lol. Also there's no onboard memory so I ditched it as I dual boot my Hackintosh. Sold it and prefer to use Apple keyboard instead.

Now already got tablet monitor, I am now looking for small macro keypad, or those fancy knob laugh.gif

@drpsyko , how is your graphic tablet? I am a happy user of gaoman tablet . But I wanted to draw while seeing my pen and screen, so I was torn in between an iPad Pro or graphics tablet. Anyway , I chosen iPad Pro , without photoshop , I just feel like drawings with 9 fingers ... if you get what I mean .

Yeah, I am absolutely happy with it!

BUT, I have realized that Windows 10 does suck when it comes to screen scaling. Like, totally terrible when using dual monitor with different resolution and scaling. Even software trickery wont fix the scale offset unless the program itself opted to pen mode, which is I really appreciate that Clip Studio have it. So does Photoshop I believe. I had trouble editing PDF and adding signature on the tablet monitor. All screen must be set to same resolution for 1:1 scaling.

By the way, I just found out I can calibrate the touch scaling to reduce parallax lol. tongue.gif

Made progress on anatomy and color gradation, but still weak on composition. Still need a lot of practice.

I totally got what you mean. Its just that I'm lazy to do scaly texture on it haha.
Initially I wanted to make most of her skin to be dragon-like scale but too lazy.

Paging drpsyko feedback on Gaomon PD1560

jamilselamat smile.gif

On another note.. I'm getting a gift for my good friend. I'm looking into drawing tablets but seems there's more choices with better cost/performance in the form of Huion, XP-Pen and Monoprice.

Anyone has any feedback on those brands? And no, not planning on getting one with a screen. Budget wise ~rm500 is ok. I don't mind pushing that a little bit more.

If your budget is under RM500, you can look into wacom intuous. They are at the top for a reason.

I see.

...I'm also too occupied with my job to draw. It's been very stressful in recent months, so I spent most of my free time getting entertained instead of drawing. My mood is often too bad to draw.

New Cintiq 16 not bad compared to the much pricier Pro version.
Retail price might be around RM2.6k. Cheapest of its lineup to combat China/Korean pentab.

Nice! It's about RM1000 more than the china/korea equivalence. Tried the xp-pen and huions, didn't like them at all because there's a noticeable gap between the tip of your pen and the canvas, painting feels dissonant.
Smart move from wacom, for 1k-ish more it would be worth it for the long run.

But actually this Cintiq also got noticeable parallax. Not as bad as the others but it's there.
You have to pay more for less gap in the Pro version.
For me, I can live with the gap, just for the sake of having more sensitivity and response rate, as well as tilt support and awesome pen.
But I already got a tablet so I'll have to put off upgrading in the next few years. tongue.gif
