Hi guys. Long time no post here. Hes my first speed paint vid hehe. After few years off my old wacom. Just a b&w but shows the thought process. No reference.

Struggling with this one. Saw another speedpaint tutorial vid before starting with this and drew inspiration from it but struggling to find a suitable brush to start with as u can see.

As I got further, im struggling to produce a subject of the painting and then the scale. Until finally i started to put a figure at the top of the composition and foliage at the high foreground which has established the scale.

Also Ive played with one tone of blue instead of B&W for this one. Still not very happy with composition but ive set 1 hour as limit but spent 30 minutes extra in finding pace in brushes to start anyways.

Still using Jonas De Ro brushes but just cant find a suitable one this time unlike on my previous video.

Thanks for watching!

The mistake i made in the previous vid is i used too many brushes.

This time Im on one brush. Working on the values again and using the one color overlaying over the piece. No reference. Just from the pic i have in my mind.

Playing around with directional composition and simple figures placing to create simple drama.

Thanks for watching!

Just got myself a pen tablet display from China - Gaomon PD1560. Its surprisingly good at just rm1.2k price point. Still not yet used to the screen gap though.

Here's a quick sketch of Zero Two using the tablet.

Drew another one.

Its much faster to draw overall with correct keybindings, to the point not using keyboard at all. Only used it for transform and filters.

Nice, last weekend I got a Artisul D16 from TAGCC which is also a display tablet. Feels like the drawing efficiency goes up since now I straight draw on the screen.

1. Fuck, that's awesome. 1.2k only? How did you buy it?

2. Does it come with detachable USB cable?

3. What did you mean screen gap? Parallax?

3. Is the display IPS?

Depending on your answers, I may end up buying it straight away. I have enough cash for this AND a laptop that has enough specs for me to make large, print-worthy, full artwork.

Was rm1.2k on sale, now back to 1.4k dy. But free DHL worldwide shipping though. Only took 6 days from China drool.gif
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/GAOMON-PD15...2311.0.0.q3mP7G

It uses mini HDMI and USB Type-C for input, but you'll get full size HDMI and USB Type-A cable. You could power it up via USB Type-C if you have Thunderbolt port, eliminating the use of power cord.

Yea parallax. Quite obvious compared to Cintiq. And it gets worse the closer to the edge. But doesnt really matter though, still faster than pen tablet.

It really IPS display, but too bad it comes with glossy surface. But they did give a free matte screen protector, if youre into that sort of thing. I believe color is 100% sRGB and 92% (?) Adobe RGB. Not sure cuz I didnt have calibration tool on hand. Still figuring out how to switch it to Adobe RGB mode to see the difference.

Other than that, I think the equivalent of it, albeit more expensive probably Huion GT156HD v2, XP-Pen Artist 15.6/16 Pro or Artisul D16 as zZNekoChanZz mentioned.

Argh... international shipping, the bane of my existence. Always some good luck needed with that for the thing to come to me undamaged.

What about the customs?

No problem, declared as $49 lol. Using DHL might helps too.

There isn't much foam, but the packaging is quite sturdy, and it's looks like its been handled carefully. Probably cuz of recent air Asia fiasco lol.

Mostly little stuffs that bothers me, but it might be just me nitpicking. Remember I told you about the sRGB setting? Yep, I still haven't found it to this day. Nothing written in the manual, nor in the support website. I probably have to email CS for clarification. But I'm gonna put it on hold until I have some calibration tool at hand.

Secondly, the button aren't distinguishable enough from one another. I kept clicking the wrong button again and again. Though it can be fixed by a little DIY hack on double taping.

Glossy screen, though it didnt affect me as I have zero backlight.

The pen is a little bit thinner to hold for a long period of time. I have gotten so used to big fat Wacom pen I feel weird wielding such a slim pen lol.

Hmm... no real nuisance yet? I guess one week is too soon to tell.

I'll ask you again after one month from now. If you will still wholeheartedly recommend that I drop 1.4k for this then, perhaps it will really be worth it. Assuming the price doesnt increase that is.
