Just wondering, those with the 6 speeder, what's ur FC for the 2.0?

I have the 4 speed..and my FC is really madness ... penang driving conditions with a heavy foot as well..i'm only clocking 310-320KM per full tank with Shell and Caltax...BUT... the last tank i reluctantly pumped in Esso (heard its underpowered) but surprise surprise..i clocked a 370km this tank..so i'm going for a round 2...gotta admit the engine is not as eager but its still more than driveable hence i think i'm gonna stick to Esso if its giving good FC from now on...

Thx for ur comment & suggestion again ah Bear, so will give up to replace the V7 silverstone, so is it good to replace 1 pair of the difference brand of tyre instead of just take the spare tyre for replacement the "bengkak" 1  & buy new tyre for the another? (another front tyre still remain 50-60% bunga)
*

If you don't wish to spend money on all 4 tire.. get 2 pcs new one for both front.. the 50-60% bunga remains at the rear..

its important to have good set of front tires especially its a front wheel drive car..

want to ask so far the new forte 6speed, anyone has issues with this car? problemS? any major issues that is will known?

as u know korean car is no good in past few years, but i found out now the new forte quality is better, but donno reliable o not
*
My 2 cents:

Because of the drastic design change from one of the ugliest cars in the market to something that some people would say is the "best looking" car in its segment, many people would unconsciously relate the improvement in quality to be on par with the improvement in looks. I'm no car expert but I think it will be a good idea not to think that a Kia's reliability should be on par with a Toyota because it looks alright.

I used to own a Hyundai, 2nd year the car wouldn't lock properly whenever it rains, 5th year my engine starts to heat up at random times for no apparent reason. I've sent my car to the workshop many many times and unfortunately I seem to make the mechanic look as if they are not as good as they think they are.

Problem couldn't go away and I had to sell it to an unlucky 2nd hand dealer.

For me, I bought a Forte anyway because I'm overseas most of the time & I'll probably drive the car 2-3 months per year, so I figured I wouldn't drive the car often enough to give me problems.

But to be honest after my first experience with Korean cars, I told myself never to get another set of Kimchi wheels. I am lucky to be in my situation where I can afford to go for looks vs. reliability.

If I had to drive the car for the whole year then honestly I would prefer to buy something else.

What I think is if you can afford it then buy with your heart, if money is an issue then buy with your brain.

But hey, that's solely my experience & my 2 cents. I'm sure there are many other people who'll tell you otherwise smile.gif

Good luck with your car hunt smile.gif

I'm regular user for BHP on 2.0 6 Speed..
to me by far BHP with my car FC is 5-10% better than Shell and Petronas.. low to mid rpm range acceleration with BHP seems like much more refined and quieter than Petronas.. other than that Petronas gives perky /
peppy acceleration.. while BHP gives seamless torque in strong and smooth characteristic..

I always boycott for Shell RON95 for its super bad FC and torqueless power.. the revs doesn't come along with power and acceleration.. ended up 330+km for RM90..

Have you tested the 6 speed one ? any car which has more than 5AT conventional autobox I'll always feel its more "engaging" to drive.. i think the 6 speed in Forte makes the engine more eager to build up speed compare with the 1.6 4AT I've tested back in 2009..

Edwin,
Our hero... You must know well with KIA CEO / CIO / COO / CFO / UFO... since you are famous and get so many car with them .... laugh.gif

Can you highlight to them, ask them to fix multiple common issues before sell to customer lah... Although those not really critical.

1. Left pull issue
2. rattling dashboard

Thank you smile.gif

Hi Guys, although these are no major problem and not every Forte face it I still do highlight these during official meeting. I believe the SC will be doing the same. Everyone can help too by calling customer service even if you had raised the complaint with the SC . Here is the number of Naza Kia Customer Service:03-26177666.

im using 1.6 ex and i think the FC is not bad for long distance cruising and city cruising. My idea to reduce FC on my car soon:-

1. To change 16" lightweight rims
2. To replace spare tyre with small used spare tyre (common yellow collor that been used in most car) 16" .
3. Iridum Spark Plug (for better torque n response)
4. Drop in air filter (for better torque n response)
5. Might dismantle the oem bodykit (lighter).
6. Voltage Stabilizer (increase engine efficiency a.k.a reduce fc) - But im afraid the car will have a warranty issues)
6. Lighter Bucket seat (optional).

To reduce about 15-20kg i think might affect the FC slighty as well as give your forte a better performance smile.gif. And yes, its all depends on your right foot!. Just my 2cents. Any idea to add on?.

Great Great ....

Does the engine oil help too? I heard must use 5W-30 Petronas? Or Hyundai Engine Oil?

What about change to more power car battery?

These 2 will void warranty? I heard drop in air filter will make your engine dirty (bad filtration)
3. Iridum Spark Plug (for better torque n response)
4. Drop in air filter (for better torque n response)

How long you have used your car? Mind to share your fuel consumption?

Hey thanks for the lengthy reply! Yes Shell has been giving crappy FC...i was thinking omg!! what's wrong with my car...290km-300km then dead and engine is coarse when revved...and yes Petronas indeed does exhibit the characteristics you mentioned above..but as petronas is not that readily available around penang island i usually only have shell/caltax/esso to choose from near my area...

i never driven the 6 speed before but honestly 4 speeds are easier to handle should you be driving hard... coz you only need to worry about the 2nd and 3rd gear...i don't know about the 6 speeders but the breakdown for the 4 speeds dragging ability for the 2.0 are somewhere

1st - 55- 60km/h
2nd - 115-120km/h
3rd - 170 - ???? (never did more than that)
4th could be anywhere...hahah

i can't quite remember coz usually when ur dragging you wont' have time to look at the meter so these are just estimates...

on the point where you mentioned it to be more 'engaging', i would think the more gears, the RPM drops every gear and needs to pick up from there again, plus point, smooth transition as the gears will be closely spaced in ratio, but doesn't that drop out of the powerband (eg : 3000rpm onwards the peak of the torque and etc.) its just my opinion, and i would cross reference that with a CVT gbox ( RPM climbs , sticks at the particular range *within the powerband* as speed increases... that kind of thingy... but yes i do understand both gboxs are different...so cannot compare apple to apple tongue.gif

Your friend is right. Check both stats from below URL (Accord and Forte)
http://www.fuelly.com/car/honda/accord
http://www.fuelly.com/car/kia/forte

That's why we have to get the best idea how to save fuel for our Forte. Otherwise, people will thinking Forte is another Spectra ... smile.gif

I just got my forte about a month and still monitoring the fc. Yes, we have to use petronas engine oil but there are n option to use fully or semi (kia sc kinrara). In terms of slight performance(not too much diff with semi lol as its still lubricating and protecting ur engine), but i would say yes to fully syn, as well it takes longer to breakdown.

Battery i dont think it do much on your car as u have to change it every 18-48 months. But free maintenance batt is affordable.

As i use in my previous car, drop in not really make ur engine dirty compare to open pod (depends on the brand u use). Its quiet and also gives more power on low rev. And yes drop in recommended for auto and minor mod biggrin.gif

Im really not sure about the warranty, i just heard if we mod on wiring thingy like install piggyback management etc. But SC said depends, and afraid that mod gonna be an excuses for them to void the warranty.

If anyone had change into iridium, pls share. tq
