that 2 videos has nothing much to convince me about the brand... really..

if you compare FR3 and the Amain-T RD30 black version which is only 30 grams lighter.. i think it's not a whole lot of difference... this is 1 lesson i learned long ago that wheel claim weight is not everything...

if the majority of the weight is centered on the rim... you will find it harder to spin up but maintains momentum like miaopurr says and vice versa... that looks to be the case on the amain-T as it has a 31mm rim compared to the 24mm on the fulcrum...

an example was one of my previous set of wheels... the Xero XSR-1... a funky paired spoke wheel.. claimed weight is well under 1600 grams... but it is hard to spin up as the rim is bulked up due to having 2 spoke holes at the same spot of the rim (unlike most paired spoke wheels, and i do mean exact same spot as in side by side) thus they have to make those places with thicker walls and resulted in a heavier rim... i think they managed to shave weight using a lighter hub and also helped by the lighter DT revolution spokes... on the contrary, my next wheel the SRAM S27 was listed as heavier but spun up smoother as the S27 rim was practically a set of rebranded kinlin 27mm niobium rims (rumor)... so the weight is more balanced out between the hub and rims making it a set that is considerably easy to spin up...

at the end of the day... it does boil down to what you want to do with the wheel... if you are the aggresive attacking type of climber... the wheel with less rotational mass is preferred... if you ride flats at speed a lot... the amain-T will serve it's purpose since it's more aero and the slight dent in spin up performance can be negated...

Xero as in xero wheels? i don't think they make hubs.. they actually partner with formula engineering to produce their hubs as far as i know...

the same i told miaopurr... the choice for me is between bikehubstore.com (in US, think north carolina or something like that) and bdopcycling.com (in taiwan)...

but since you are in the US... bikehubstore, fairwheelbikes, wheelbuilder.com, prowheelbuilder.com is all within your reach...

i think fairwheelbikes have a lot of fancy stuff like extralite and tune hubs...if you like fancy spokes like white sapim cx-rays and DT aerolite.. they have it too... practically boutique stuff if you ask me..

in terms of cheaper options, i'd say bikehubstore... free delivery within US as far as i know.. not sure if all states...the good thing with them is that they have this crazy taiwanese hubs... the front is called superlight wide... very light @ under 85 grams and very wide... even wider than the Zipp 88's.. something like 78mm wide vs 74 or 76mm on the zipp...

i would have preferred lacing them spoke elbow out on my set, but i struggle (or too chicken) to force the spoke into those angle... and my specially bought DT spoke head puncher was wasted as i didn't know how to use it properly...and they use Enduro bearings too... don't think it's the highest grade... but hopefully something like the ABEC5 grades... definitely a try if you are on a budget... they don't build your wheels though...

the only complaints is their hubs don't have thicker axles like 17mm on the king hubs... i think they still run on 15mms... it should make for a stiffer hub...

and reputation... i would say wheelbuilder.com... they are very famous for professionally built wheels...i've had some mail conversations with them before... unfortunately their price was a bit too stiff for me and they only have the more famous and expensive hubs like CK, White Industries, DT 180/190/240s (and this are the cheap ones) which are too costly for me...

all 3 i believe have kinlin rims as kinlin is quite a famous rim for being cheap and lightweight... if you are light enough and need a shallow wheel... they even have a XR-200 i think that drops below 400grams per rim... i prefer the middle ground XR-270s...

only advise i can give is to buy nipples washers to use with the kinlins since they do not have eyelets in them... this should make the rim tougher to crack under high spoke tensions...

even then.. there is 2 problems to it.. you are not sure if the size is right for you... and bike is in kuching... you don't want to bet on long range transportation for bikes.. not cool if the owner does not know how to pack a bike for transportation...

even then... try to spend a bit more to get the 10speed tiagra if possible... 9-speed is just a bit too yesteryear for me...

fulcrum's range is very confusing as they have a lot of products classified based on rim materials..

the FR0 can be considered as an all rounder set on the malaysian market view... but if you look at the entire fulcrum range... it is now considered the climbing wheel within their aluminum range with the introduction of racing quattro...

as for the full carbon tubular series.. they have the aero racing speed xlr (not very common here, as most will go for Campy Bora Ultra 2) and climbing set Racing Light XLR

then to confuse it even further... they introduced the Red Wind series which is a Carbon rim with aluminum brake tracks...all aero wheels at this point with no introduction on a lightweight climbing set i think...

so, fulcrum almost have a climbing and aero set within each category of alu, alu/carbon, full carbon

while if you compare zipp.. they will produce climbing, all rounder, full aero as in 202,303, 404 respectively... then they will introduce carbon tubular, carbon clincher and on certain models carbon/alu clincher... the only exception is the 101 full alu clincher which they wanted to hit the entry level market with...
