Tried to google for Scott CR 1 pro on the net but to no avail..is it a step down from Foil series or is a different type of bike altogether?

Is it a good bike? I do fancy Bianchi and Specialized design, but what about Scott bikes?

your googoo not working? http://www.scott-sports.com/global/en/prod...cr1-pro-20-l56/

it's considered a different categorization in the scott line up.. not really a step down..

CR1 is the do it all bike while the Foil is an aero bike... and there is also the Addict that is the super stiff super light frame that cav used during the highroad days...not sure why it's missing from the lineup now except for CX Addict.. maybe they thought it is redundant...

what i used to perceive

50% CR1 = Specialized Roubaix = BMC Gran Fondo
50% Addict = Cervelo R series = Specialized Tarmac = BMC Team Issue = Ridley Helium? = Felt F series
Foil = Cervelo S series = Specialized Venge = Ridley Noah = Felt AR series

you see the kind of redundancy that scott created where they cannot really differentiate out a Classics (Trek Domane, Spez Roubaix), middle ground \ climbing bike (Cervelo R, CR1) and aero bike (Foil, Venge)... the CR1 does have the comfort geometry but is ultimately the base for addict to be developed on with a more sophisticated process... as they progress to improve both lineups at the same time.. they find that the CR1 would do the same thing as Addict which i think is why they lopped Addict off totally in 2012..

and to top it all off

Trek Madone 7 = CR1 + Foil  cool2.gif ....jus jokin... trek think they can make one bike to sapu em all (watch too much LOTR meh whistling.gif )..

Trek on the other hand went the other way by offering 1 frame with many qualities but many fitment / geometry option... H1 / H2 ...you get the drill

if they didn't launch the Domane... they would have thought the Trek Madone 7 = Roubaix + Tarmac + Venge cool2.gif  cool2.gif ...but Lance didn't win a classics race before.. so they had to make a classics bike... sorry, dunno wat the shit i am toking about... time to go sleep..

some cocaine...
http://www.roadbikeaction.com/fly.aspx?lay...xid=69&cid=5226
yea... bastardos.. the one night i have no TV and internet... and he does this to his one loyal fan that still believes the clenbuterol-les shit in him will light the roads up (not literally of course, WAT.. u think i like miaopurr like to post up shitty bibs?)..

Contador totally pulled a Cadel Evans on purito who finally made a burrito out of himself after making us thought Alberto was getting an Andy Schleck moment this year... was he sandbaggin or wat??... WTH did Rodriguez do to lose almost 3mins and drop 2 places in GC in 1 single stage...WHO, WAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHHYYYY...friggin boobtube got no replays...

i jus wondered how the heck did he put 1:52 into Mr. No Problemo Valverde in 1 single stage if Mr. NP himself finish only 6 seconds behind him on the stage...

the finish on today's stage is not as tough as the queen stage to Cuitunigru on Monday..it only ascended 100 meters in the last 10K or 200+ meters from around 30K out... not sure if i read the profile wrong at this hour at night...but there is one more freak mountain top finish on stage 20 in Saturday.. 300 meter climb in last 10k if my eyes didn't play tricks on me...
mati lorrr wan to list everything...
lower is more aero.. but not necessarily more power.. unless you have very good core muscles..

can't help too.. dun own either of them... jus speculatin shit
Ha..this is the sort of review that I can't find in google. So Foil is an aero bike..I thought CR 1 is equivalent to Tarmac. So Aaddict is the one suited for climbing better. There are so many expensive bike brands around, make it hard to choose.

How much vi Ann bought the foil eh? Hehe

Thank you
was writing based on memory...... sweat.gif
Anyways......tested the EMC r1.6.....vinn_ann your TCR is lighter by a hair.

It rides good, It felt like........ummm.....didnt fell like it was me pedalling. It felt effortless, corners were good. Didnt feel twitchy or anything. Mind you this is low speed on a smooth surface. I think I might buy it on Monday.

Frame, fork and seat post CF

stem and bar alloy

rims EMC's own

crank not sure what but its hollowpoint

brakes EMCs own

everything else is 105

tyres Vittoria something

and I am riding a medium large frame.... shocking.gif feels comfortable in spite of the seat being jacked up 2 inches above the handlebars. When I got off, I went  sweat.gif ...no sprains nothing.

almost twenty years off of a road bike. so take what I said with a pinch of salt.

Hey, when you are at the reviewing stage, why don't you give a try for Merida Scultura Evo range smile.gif I would love to see how it fares with the other bikes. Couldn't find any good reviews on the net about the bike though.

Haha. Not my scheme..just want to know what other feels about it..you know. I haven't really got the chance to ride so many bikes to compare with. If only Merida can start sponsoring some roadies pro club then I think more reviews will be available on the net. They should follow Fuji and Giant footsteps.

Haha. Sworks frame only already 10k aa? Better get the complete foil for 12k..eh btw, if complete bike is 12k, then what's the price for foil frame? Must be less than 10k I think.

Like that you can use the Specialized (not s-work) Tarmac SL4 to compare...

http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/roa...xpertmidcompact

like this one.. should be more or less 12k with almost full ultegra and some funky wheels... there are some further cheaper ones...

No s-works stickers.... hmm.gif no good. Must have s-works to tapao other guys brows.gif

hard to find in KL unless you can find someone with a triple crank road bike who wants to convert... then you can buy it off him... i have a Ultegra GS but i lost the derailleur pulleys... it's buried in dust now and i sort of sawed off the cage's pulley safety tab as well..

so, in total if shimano... no big hacks.. jus parts swap for a 32T cassette...

Ok so the items needed,

1050 cassette...11-32,
Longer chain..116 --- normally what's the normal price eh?
Mid rd, this one where to get from normal bike shop Ada jual?

Would love to visit tp my lbs this weekend. thumbup.gif

i've seen some kids in parks riding them.. those bikes without pedals right?

not sure if it's strider.. sorry, but never keep an eye on kiddie bikes..

why not you call up some shops and ask around...

http://www.baikbike.com/bicycle-shops/

maybe not for strider but those type of bikes... it might be another brand.. if someone is riding it.. it means someone must be selling it...
don't poison me  mad.gif

sacrifice for a new bike lar...

wat u mean invest more? it really depends if you are the type of gatal person at the end of the day.. if one day you are like mr.jgx and feel dissatisfied with his mirinda carbon... watever you buy now also guarantee mati one...  you still end up buying a halo bike at the end once you have money...

it's jus like hianboy saying he won't buy the future iphones when he got his iphone 4.. .and now he says waiting for 5...and same as i can't guarantee you that i will keep my hands off a carbon bike in the future despite my major dislike for carbon bikes...

my personal experience for this many years la...

men cannot be trusted... this is the only fact and reality that is spot on coming out from a woman's mouth...

Oi..Merida not Miranda. Go ride one of the carbon models and see how you'd like it hehe. I bet u will.

What the diff between garmin edge 500 in red/black and blue/gray other colour combo apart from the price. Is the premium heart rate strap worth getting on the red/black edge 500?
*
Not sure about the colors though..I was once eying for the edge 500 too previously, but ended up with sigma. Garmin model line up is considered as a premium cyclocomputer for most of us..I think it's good if you will be utilizing the gps function to the most, or to phsycoanalyze your post ride data to death tongue.gif

To be honest, when I ride what matter the most in my computer is the heart rate functions..speedometer comes second, cadence in third place. To be honest...95% of the time I'll be looking only at my HR. well different rider will have different opinion..so I'm just stating my 2 cents worth of opinion. smile.gif

I'm using sigma bc 2009 MHR wireless...for Rox, you can find butthead for reviews..I think he replied a lengthy post about it before.

What I'm missing in my computer is the gradient...that's all but I think I can live without it. But I can't live without the HR function.

as usual la... they expect the long cage to work every bit the same as a short cage where in reality is not... it suffers a bit in slower and sloppier shifting even when tuned perfectly due to extra chain slack especially running large cogs.. but that is the sort of compromise to take if you need it.. even SRAM WiFLi has the same problems..

touring guys don't complain.. only the road guys are the bastards who nitpick on the minor things...

Max sprocket size is how big a cassette shimano claims it will be able to use... on GS models i think they claim 30T max.. but stetina of Shimano group managed to squeeze a SS cage onto a 32T where the SS cage only claimed a 28T max cog (read the velo page i posted a bit ago)... i think they jus underclaim it so people don't expect too much...  they are very conservative on that rating and their chain wrap as well...

*that being said.. i think the SS cage actually does work with 32T.. only problem is that the length of the RD cage will not be able to pick up extra chain slack and it becomes apparent when you run the small ring an start shifting to smaller cogs... any bump will dislodge the front chain ring and cause a chain drop when it is at it's slackest..... best to also consider buying a chain drop guard like k-edge or watever you can find since longer chain slack increases chain drop chances...

the chain wrap or total capcity is referring to how much chain slack the RD can take up.. usually done by calculating the difference between your big and small ring plus your difference between your biggest and smallest cog

(big ring - small ring) + (big cog - small cog) = chain wrap... then see how close it gets to the specified capacity listed on the RD...again.. running a 36T will show that the chain wrap is over the claimed capacity as some of the buggers who took long cage to run MTB cassettes tried it and it worked... not to best shifting expectations.. but it works...

many people complain about the 2209 problems.. cannot detect signal... screen crapping out.. but i had no problems with it prior to my use.. maybe i was lucky..

think the cateye products are out of it's time this days.. their products are offer functions that are neither here nor there and they costs quite a lot...

cateye is only good for their durability.. even their wires ones have thicker cables than most other brands..

i had the old velo 8 and it flown off the dock @ 30k and barrel rolled across the street dunno how many times... got scratched like hell but it still functioned...
*
Thx a lot man for the details answer. Now this thread has some meaningful cycling knowledge apart from the trolls. Haha. Yeah as you said, it's hard to get the medium cage Rd here in KL..i will have to resort to the Internet market soon enough wink.gif

For sigma 2209 MHR, i did have a malfunction heart strap sensor, got it replaced with a new one and until now so far no issue. It sync well below 10 secs every time. About the lost of sync, yes it happened intermittently but won't affect your on going meter readings...it sync again below 5 secs. Not an issue to me.

Today morning ride was HOA-sempah..my new gp4000s is damn good n gripping the road really well..not to mention how supple the ride is now. Good investment is all I can say biggrin.gif

On my way back to HOA, I was following a big motorbike, he's kinda marshaling us riders for fun. He honked in every blind spot corners, hand signals n stuff. I chased him down, overtook a group of fast riders and solo ride with the bike for quite sometime until I'm out of juice and the fast group behind me close the gap and start buzzing past me...what a speed they were chasing and descending..tak boleh thn kene overtook by Merida I think tongue.gif

Whoever was in that 5 group of riders earlier, if you guys are here in this forum..you all are damn berani and so strong ler..hehe.

I saw one fixie rider this morning..Strong leg..strong mind. Kudos.

I went to Samy after ride, he used to have a few 105 RD med cage but all sold out..im too late...zzz

On the other note, I didn't slam my stems all the way down. I use a 10mm cone spacer..that's the lowest I will go for now. It improved my body position..most of the weight now being supported by my butt and I can feel less strains on my arms.

Interesting read about slamming.

If I buy the same cassette for my another set of rear wheels (for training on trainer), is there any calibration needed or I can swap the rear wheels with no issue in gear shifting? I'm planning to get another set of cheap cassette..don't want my ne 4000s to be used on a trainer session. Hehe.

So what if in the future, main wheel set is using 32T, training set is using 28T..any issue?
