Oh, then I am not sure. I know Umobile is only good at West Malaysia major cities, Klang Valley, Johor, Ipoh and Penang, etc..

great to know this topic is helping. x.d, I think the current promotion for Maxis is cheaper than the original iValue plan. plus you get the added benefit of deciding your own usage out of the Value Plus pool. the thing I don't really like about iValue is the set amount of minutes and unable to message to other networks without charge. Value Plus is good that way, you get a set amount of credit to do what you want with it.

Bro, ktnl,

I think you got the understanding wrong. The older promo which you mention is when digi does not subsidize the phone and you have to pay upfront the RRP minus 200 I believe.

The RM699 campaign is based on a lower device price where you pay RM138 monthly fee and RM699 device price.

Previously the phone would cost you RM2090 now it's RM699
Previously you would pay RM93 for monthly fee now it's RM138
Previously it's airtime rebate now it's device subsidy
Total subsidies is the same once you calculate it. but now DiGi is throwing in another RM266 worth of subsidies. So that totals up to RM1316 instead of RM1080 of rebate/subsidies.

iPhone was always based on an airtime rebate but now telcos are subsidising the price of the phone itself. Dont be confused by the calculation because it's two different things all together.

RM175 is inclusive of the monthly fee plus device under EPP for 24 months.

I don't think it's a scam, it's just a misunderstanding/calculation...

Yup i just figured it out 2 months ago.. But still i opted for Digi coz of the unlimited data..

Their plan price are so smart that they put RM88 but only charge u RM53 so u think oh Digi is so cheap just 50% of what Maxis giving...
But instead u didnt know u actually are paying RM88 due to u are paying the phone price in FULL, only to rebate back into your monthly bill.

Oh btw im talking about the old plan...I actually didnt know about Digi also having RM799 package too

as above.

I do understand what you're saying. in essence, this plan is the SAME as the previous offer. with 2 EXCEPTIONS.

iDiGi88 customers like me, no longer have an option to extend their contract. basically, DiGi is saying you can't use your cheap plan anymore and you must upgrade to get a further contract. that is to put it in blunt terms, screwing with customers. Lure them in with cheap plans, then force them to upgrade while giving them the illusion that they're actually paying less this time round. classic bait and switch is what it is.

and 2, I don't appreciate DiGi pulling all the stops in promotion, billing this new "PROMOTION" as a sale, cheapest iPhone plan and such. on the surface, it's easy to get suckered. but once you look deeper, you realize they're selling a MORE expensive plan and calling it cheaper?

misleading is the gentle term for it. but I prefer to call it what it is. a bait and switch scam.

yeah, very true.

I opted for the iDiGi88 at first, since it was technically the cheapest plan around. nevermind that it's actually a layered promotion, classic marketing. but that's the old plan. now there is no cheap plans anymore, iDiGi88 is gone replaced with this more expensive plan.

I would upgrade, but why pay nearly the same as Maxis when I can get better coverage and 3G network with Maxis right? so annoying.

FYI TS, your original post IS misleading. You're unintentionally giving out incorrect information based on your own interpretation of the promotion given out by Digi. I suggest you rectify it. New customers won't be bothered so much by Digi's promotion as it would by your post if anything. You blatantly, through your inept reading skills, accused Digi of purporting a scam under the veil of promotion, which is in fact, not true at all.
