So I was looking through the papers the other day, and saw DiGi having an iPhone "sale". My contract's expiring soon, so I was quite interested. When I first got my iPhone 4 during the DiGi launch, their monthly terms were IMO the cheapest around. iDiGi88 for rm55 a month after rebates and everything. Even if the iPhone was barely subsidized, I didn't mind as I figured it was cheaper than Maxis' plan then considering the contract duration.

So this new plan is iPhone 4S offered at 799 for 24months on the iDiGi138 plan. A decent contract, I could use more minutes. But to my suprise, the monthly commitment for this plan (24 months duration interest free installments) was RM175!

Compare this, against the old iDiGi138 plan which had a monthly commitment of rm88 after rebates. That's RM87 difference after deducting from the new plan's RM175 commitment. RM87 x 24 months is...RM2088! So in effect, I'd be paying RM2088+RM699...RM2787 for a 16G iPhone 4S if I follow the original pricing?!

WHAT PROMOTION?! WHAT SALE?!

So to new customers, I only have this to say. DiGi's new plan is MORE EXPENSIVE than the original plan. Their "SALE" is to put it in blunt terms, a smoke and mirror scam. You'd be better off paying for the original plan, getting the rebates and buying an iPhone at no subsidy.

Except you can't. Now DiGi is refusing to let me continue extending my original contract with it's terms and rebates. And I'm not even wanting to buy their unsubsidized devices. They're basically forcing me to sign a more expensive contract, and to upgrade my plan!

I hope this serves as a warning to those who think DiGi is still the cheapest. They might have been, they no longer are which is very disappointing. Hoping things change soon before my contract expires, and nobody supports their daylight robbery of a "sale". Or might jump to Maxis straightaway, they have quite a decent offer. Better coverage, better 3G speeds, I don't mind paying a bit more. Rather than be pulled in and then have my intelligence insulted by this sub-par company.

DiGi. When they say SALE, They mean SCAM!

Not sure about the others, but I think it should be the same. The offer is basically to me kind of a bait and switch. Previously, DiGi rebates for contracts were a lot. iDiGi138 for rm88 after rebates. Now, it's the full rm138 in return for "subsidized" devices which turns out to be more expensive compared to the previous plans? And they had the cheek to call it a promotion.

Haha, just informing others not to fall for their trap.

I was quite eager when I knew they had sale. Mana tau, after calculate then it become clear. Imagine my rage, they tried to pull this one over me. It's fine they want me to upgrade sometimes, but now they forcing me to either upgrade my contract and pay more in the illusion that I'm paying for a good deal...or let my contract lapse. I know what my choice going to be.

Screw you DiGi. Maxis already laughing at your ineptness, their new plan got MNP charges inclusive hahahaha!

Yeah, I counted the Maxis plan too. If you take into account the minutes and SMS given, stuff like that, I think Maxis will STILL be cheaper than the DiGi plan which comes as a suprise. Honestly, I prefer Maxis actually as they have better 3G coverage in my area. Not like DiGi, everywhere EDGE except if you stand in the middle of the fricking city. And the DiGi customer service...=/

Switch to Maxis and save the hassle. Afterall, RM 799 for iP4S is quite reasonable. smile.gif

You think the plan is worth too after calculations?

I actually use Maxis for my main line, iValue2 I think. Very expensive so was thinking of switching to DiGi. But now this thing happen to DiGi, I'm thinking of switching my 2nd line to Maxis instead.

Input much appreciated.

I think quality comes with price. I was a Digi user 2 years back because at that time the price is really cheap for calls and SMS but switched to Maxis after getting poor signal and consistent call drop from Digi. Switched to Maxis, pay a bit more to get piece of mind. By the way, Digi is only cheaper if most of your friends are using Digi. Maxis is cheaper if your friends or clients are using Maxis. smile.gif

True also. DiGi to me is spotty at most in terms of service, if only they spent their revenue more on increasing quality and coverage instead of hiring those moronic yellow people or whatever.

I was looking for something along the lines of iDiGi88, something with a low commitment considering it's a 2nd line and allows me to buy a new phone hopefully with some subsidy. 2 birds with one stone sort of. Now busily recalculating my options.

Oh, just saw you mentioned second line.
Well, Digi could be a good choice. Umobile also okay but only good around Klang Valley and major cities only.
