QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Aug 1 2012, 01:56 AM) sure about that? then i will give it a go Well. For me from stock --> Wanam was relatively painless. Both on my S2 AND my S3. And it was from GB to ICS even in the case of my S2, and data remained (largely) intact nontheless.because my only concern for custom roms is that it will factory reset / wipe my phone. for htc, it will happen. i come from hox You must understand, non-AOKP/AOSP/MIUI based "custom" ROMs are simply deodexed versions of Sammy stock firmware with stuff added in or removed. It's nothing different then stock ROMs debloated with Titanium and with your "mods" added in. So, if a KIES update doesn't wipe your data, why would a "custom" ROM do that? Unless it's not "really" Sammy based, that is. And conversely, if KIES updates can screw up your phones, so can "custom" ROMs. Personally, I run deodexed because it's easier to theme, while mantaining full "factory stock" functionality (MHL mirroring and Sammy Camera, to name a few). Main reason why I've never been so eager to go AOSP/AOKP. Odexed roms run faster/use less battery however, IINM. @gbx: Did you wipe market data? Wait. I just realized the S3 can power (and access!) MOST 2.5 inch external HDDs...
ON... IT'S... OWN... Samsung, what monster have you created? I very sked with this phone now. Skip my previous "only 1.8 inch HDDs work with S3 OTG" assumption. Though 1.8 inch disks are imminently more portable. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Aug 1 2012, 02:24 AM |
