For the love of God, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Don't turn this into a D3 vs GW2 thread, nor don't turn this into "This is the end of D3" thread as well!!

This is a Guild Wars 2 General thread.

EDIT: I don't think one can solo a jumping puzzle, no?

A note the D3 wagon jumpers, if you are weak willed to leave D3, what makes you think you won't do the same for GW2?

There won't be GW2 if not for GW, and you know what?, when GW was released back then, there are exploits(so severe that Anet needs to do a roll back), bugs, skills exploit, PvP imbalance you name it etc, people whine in forums, saying gg GW since no monthly fees, all the gloom doom, guess what? GW is still here and now GW2.

So in short, stop the GW2 vs D3 comparison crap, D3 trashing or what ever.

WvWvW = the romance of three kingdoms

Best just focus in GW2, make sure to know most of the system if not all... Start READING!! Read, research, construct builds, figure out gold farming method, figure out OP combos.... etc. Hmm, I might want to sell my 2 x 6850 and get something better on single card, who in Kuching wanna deal?? Come come~~ XD

Hmm... So Guild actually give players many buffs... hmm.gif
Architecture — Purchase shared storage and increase the number of upgrades the guild can work on at once.
Art of War — Buffs used in WvW
Economy — Buffs to increase members ability to earn karma, find magic items (!!!), or gather materials.
Politics — Emblems, influence buffs, guild armor (? hmm, hopefully something cool), and party items.

I enjoyed D3 to the point where they activated RMAH, then, things went down hill from then. Everything is designed for the Auction House like extremely low drop rate and a massively randomised loot table so that people will use the Auction House. The entire idea of Auction House defeats the point of playing an ARPG that is all about collecting loot. At the same time, does GW2 focus on loot collection? From what i have played so far, doesnt seem like it as it looks more to explore the world or engage in PvP. If you cant get the item you desire, you can craft it instead. Not sure you can actually buy the top tier weapon from a dealer though.

Adding on, D3 is released with incomplete features. Where is PvP? Why are there so little content? Instead, the whole game is all about playing that 10 hours worth of content again and again with different difficulty.

D3 was never a PvP focused game so whats the point of nerfing items by a large margin? Sure it is to keep the balance in check, but they have to think about the people who actually grind for those items or paid real money for it. Those items essentially become crap after that nerfing.Oh not to forget about the idea of Legendary being absolutely garbage.

The lack of encouragement to explore annoys me too because the world is so static without much randomisation to the point that every playthrough is exactly the same. Sure Skyrim has a limited sized world, but each time you explore the same area, you'll find something intriguing. Even Torchlight 1 that is made in one year with 7 people has way more randomisation than D3.

The thing that annoys me the most is still the the lack of polish of D3. No doubt the art style looked amazing and the gameplay is very solid, however, a lot of things felt that it wasnt thought out properly, like the impact of auction house, lack of inflation control, the lack of longevity and the list goes on. It feels like a lot of the game's design are not thought out properly or in another words, it feels like a potentially delicious half cooked meal.

Guild Wars 2 seems to be the other way round where the way the gameplay works, the way the server systems with overflow servers idea, the technology behind the game or how every mode in the stands out in its own way, it gives me the feeling that Arenanet actually sit down and think about how to make a fun game, not how to make a most profitable game. This is something that Activision or EA will never do.

Still, there are still a couple of stuff that i do not understand or just plain unlucky where i didnt get to experience it, which still put me on the fence.

does GW2 focus on loot collection?

Hmm, how to put that one... Unless you got so many gold to spent, farming specific loot can be troublesome, logically the higher the rank, the harder to get. In BWE1, drop rate was... awful. In BWE3, it seems I got plenty and sufficient for my crafting. Hopefully it stays that way.

The great function about loot is, the deposit function. But it only allows for raw materials and simple processed items like ingots. Equipments parts, improved enchantment gem however, can't stored with deposit function. I am wondering what are those mini-pets about though.

I read there are about 200 dye colours waiting to be unlocked aside those default colours, sounds like a lot of work to do looting bottles...

Gears in GW2 so for I don't see them as "high levels are overpower". Definitely no. Played till 30+ in BWE1 and see nothing too extraordinary about those gears on the same rank. More to cosmetic likely. To truly empower your gear, you'll need to do some work with those gems. Slotting default gem is a waste, really. Invest in *forgot name* craft skill and you can start upgrade those basic gem, making them even more powerful or have multiple stats on one single gem... Gem acquisition feels rather easy. Note that I did not mentioned "gem stone" as some of them are not actually stones. Several types of gems you gain from chopping trees too... Not sure about farming vegetable though, didn't do that.

And er... I'll say like this lah- MMORPG is a virtual life. We do stuff everyday to support our virtual living, NOT pwn boss and game over. Using Excel is common. Make sure you know how to use Excel... whistling.gif

Think they stated that the gear are only cosmetics, and that their stats are the same at end-level. Granted, there's the stats and runes to consider, but they want to do away with the gear treadmill and focus only on your skill and build. If I am not mistaken, (I didn't play GW1) GW1 follow this convention as well.

But generally, it's mainly for aesthetic and swag factors (not to mention bragging rights, if you completed a dungeon specific set).

Hence, when people asked what's the endgame, there are plenty of answers to that question =P-
