The question is... Why do you need to use it as a computer? You don't have one? For presentation I accept though.
But for movies etc, there's something called DLNA which I think is much feasible for watching movie.

Just got my nexus!

1 question : do i need to untick the 'Data enabled' in mobile network settings to prevent it from using my phone's GSM/HSDPA/3G network (which costs MONEY)?

I reloaded after i got it. Then 1 day all my credit gone. I suspect it used my mobile network sad.gif

Yes. Untick 'Data enabled' / Disable data or whatever options available. Best, delete the APNs as well

Well, I had a series of bad experience with the phone, not sure what caused it though.

I was jogging with the phone with earphones plugged in using the nike app, and suddenly it crashed (screen hangs and the music playing keeps reloop). I wrapped the phone in a ziploc bag to ensure that no moisture can go into the phone, and i double checked the ziploc bag later to find that no sign of moisture ever entered the bag.

So back to the phone, once it crashed, i had to pull battery to shut it off. After that, my device will boot to show that I have 0% battery and shut down right after that. After several tries, it wouldn't even boot pass the google screen. But i noticed that whenever i slot the battery in, the notification light will bilnk in red at various pace.

Tried rebooting alot of times, then tried boot into recovery mode and wipe data and tried again. Finally it boots and I managed to make it work again. But another problem still entrails. The phone thinks that my earphone is perpetually plugged in. Therefore all my media sounds do not work - eg. phone call can only work via loudspeaker, music player don't play, youtube don't play, notification sounds do work though. Those sounds that do not work will come through when i plug in my headphones though.

So i did a series of reset bla bla bla and finally it worked again. Then i started to notice that the battery life of the phone became worse. Initially i was able to get through a day without any problem at all, with at least 20% battery left. Now, my phone will become dead by 3-4pm. Tried recalibrating the battery, improved a lil bit. so i suspect is the kernel's fault - so thats why I want to flash it back to stock kernel and hope for the best.

Oh and 1 more thing, my USB connection does not work (no response from any computer after plugged in) since the fiasco, until 2 days ago, when i plugged in the USB cord, the connection worked but it keeps connects and disconnect.

Well you see, since I had USB connection problems, I might have a problem unrooting it. Haha, so I am trying to get it work again, flash back to stock, unroot, then try my luck with warranty service.

If I were you, wouldn't do so much.
Just send in for warranty, even if I solve it, I also will feel insecure.
Hate it when phone Kong to surprise me.

get 1 OTG, usb MHL and USB repeter (powred)
plug in OTG, then usb repeter then usb MHL, keybord usb, mouse usb, hhs usb
plug MHL in screen, and power up.
BOOM.. nexus overload and died whistling.gif
*
won't work in this combo or vise versa. tested.

scenario:
1. phone - OTG - AC Powered USB Hub - MHL to monitor + kybd/mse (result is kybd/mse work but video failed)
2. phone - MHL adapter to monitor + OTG cable to MHL power input (result is video out ok but USB function failed)

conclusion:
1. once you connect OTG from phone, it's only carry out USB function. our AC Powered USB hub won't accept video.
2. once you connect MHL adapter from phone, it's only carry out video out function. the microUSB port from adapter only accept power source.

Suggestion:
1. connect MHL adapter to phone and HDMI out to Monitor/TV. Audio working perfectly together too. your phone also charging at the same time, but only USB charging instead of AC charging.
2. connect your bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

your phone act as your PC now thumbup.gif

I don't think your test is conclusive, to test whether your NFC is working or not, you should test with a proven working card, such as Touch N Go, not with unknown type of card.

Do you know how many type of touch pass cards are there ? not all are NFC compatible

9.9/10 they don't bother but there is still a 0.1 chance they will void your warranty
