But Im not sure bout the travel lens. Is the focus on SAL18250 fast enough to get some sports photo?
Or maybe a SAL16105?

i don't know about that. I got a57 with 1855 and a minolta 70210.
What I know about travel lens is that the image quality is acceptable but not too great.
But is very convenient as u need only one lens to do all. Make easier during traveling.

Any1 using SAL18250 lens or any travel lens? Thinkin of getting an A57, hmm.gif

check out the new combo of A57 + sal18-135, it has a more forgiving range then 1855/16105, but more better in image quality(iq sharpness) compare with 18200. and worth the money. when u need for sport, optional 55-300 coming up in near future will be the best choice!. i understand people pick 18-250 for 'travel' purpose, but the quality sacrificed, i rather go with 18-135, + A57 new technology 'Clear Zoom' something".... the 135 can x1.4 or x2 with min quality lost to 200 or 270mm. smile.gif hope this information helps.

The 18-250mm can be a good travel lens if you do not mind its drawbacks. It's quite prone to CA and lose sharpness after the 200mm mark. I dunno about you but I would prefer a wider end for travel but that's just me. You seldom actually use the tele end even when travelling. Of course if convenience is high on your list then the 18-250 can be the all-in-one. If I was the one going travelling now with all I have learnt over the years, I would pick the 16-50mm f2.8 lens for travel coupled with the A57. 16mm for the wide and 35 to 50mm for street and portraits. You could leave all tele lens at home and won't miss much.

Newbie to DSLR. Currently using a 8X zoom digital compact camera, am scared that I'll miss the 8X zoom.
18-250 is too noisy based on the video I posted above, but not sure about 16-105. 18-135 out of budget. tongue.gif
