Wow! Lucky I'm not able to make it to the TT.. if not sure die of poisoning. Just the other day an evil thought crossed my mind.. I was wondering if it was worthwhile getting the 135mm STF...

soket : I dun wan to tanya.. coz I know the answer is sure worthwhile to buy... problem is I don't think I will be using the lens often enough to justify the price tag... T.T

Plus it's big...
and heavy...
and I use the 85mm more...

... actually trying to convince myself not to buy............

Wah! Crap! What the heck happened??!! I go home for the weekend and all hell broke loose?? Just have to blame my internet connection at home for being down for nearly 2 weeks now! cry.gif cry.gif

edpaul : Ehh? You seemed familiar but then again I might be mistaken....

lwliam : Aiyo... see lah... now you frighten away another newcomer....

Anyway... it all might be too late now but still... I have some advise for moonwalk if you are still here.....

1. Don't go dropping names
You should listen to yourself talk. Every few sentences there's a name that's a somebody in the photography world. Why? Do you really need their credentials so that you can be confident enough in your own pics?

2. Listen without prejudice
Different people have different ways of getting the message across. We need to be objective and see what's the real content. If there's truth in those content then we should acknowledge them.

You know, you are not entirely blameless in this whole flame fest. Everytime someone comments that your pics need more attention, you would reply with something like : "Sifu so and so told me that's the way it should be so that how my pic is!"

To be honest, that's kinda rude.

Well, I better stop my 'uncle rants' ler.. hahahaha...

Who got event to join? Please let me know lar... I am turning into a rock at home ler... no internet connection and no event to shoot... cry.gif

if you think 35mm is wide.... then the 35mm F1.4G has some pretty decent bokeh. wink.gif
*
Decent?! You call the 35mm f1.4G bokeh as DECENT?!! Wah!! What will you call a good bokeh then? STF lens is not applicable.. LOL!

Then again 35mm is not wide in my books.

All my gear lust is gone for now. Haven't really had any decent shoots for a while now... blame partly on Diablo III and partly on a bad streak of luck in life. My son has just been recently discharged from hospital. The bill took away a Zeiss 24mm f2.0 SSM... cry.gif

Hehehe.... the 35G is not known to be an excellent all-rounder lens by most people because they expect it to be extremely sharp with wonderful bokeh. It achieved the latter but not the former. Only the STF was able to achieve both, but at the expense of autofocus.

Anyway, I wish your son a speedy recovery. It is not easy being a father. I am coming to terms with this because I am now a father too. Have to balance between work, family and photography (and in your case, worse. gaming too! laugh.gif ) Hopefully when your son grows up, he will earn enough money to buy you at least a few Zeiss 24mm F2! biggrin.gif
*
Thanks for your concern. He's ok now. Back to his mischievous old self. Well, I'm lucky Diablo III is not such a good game. Helps to cut down playing time. Now feel a bit bored playing ady... Dun think I want to start playing any other games. Haha.

You know, I would give up all the Zeiss lens just to see him smiling and healthy. I bet you would do the same too! biggrin.gif

I'm sure in time my gear lust will return... now looking forward to 3rd week of August for Animagaki. Codyx promised to give me a tour and shoot lots of cosplayers!! rclxms.gif

guy, used  f56 with unknow age of item with so call 9.5/10 cond priced 550 worth to buy? what else need to consider if wish to get a used flash gun... normally repair flash gun cost how much if sad case happen if due to the death tube...
*
If age is unknown then I would suggest that you skip it. The f56 is at least 4 years old if not more. Top up your budget for another 200 bucks and you could get a new f43 with swivel head action!

Buying used flash is risky because:

1. You do not know how heavily the flash has been used. The bulb might be close to expiring.
2. Old flash units will affect the WB as flash tends to turn warmer the older they get.

Unless you are buying the flash to use for wireless and not as your main flash, I would suggest people to buy a new unit.

jimlim007 : That shot is probably one from the reject pile. kysham did say that it was for a magazine so I doubt he will be able to release the selected pics before the mag article is published.

ieR : Hmm... what theme is this? Bondage? Zombie?

The cameraman in the background is quite distracting? That's the understatement of the year! It's like a freaking pink elephant in the room! Once you see that, you cannot 'unsee' it.

My opinion is that the cameraman really RUINED the whole shot. Sorry about that but that how I felt.

Agreed with ieR. No need to spend so much money buying diffusers. I hardly use anything other than the built-in bounce card on my F58 flash.

- Big diffusers are a pain to carry around. They are bulky and you will have a hard time trying to fit them in your bag.

- They are a pain to setup, especially for the demb. So many separate parts and you need to flip here, flip there and if you're in a hurry, you can kiss your photo op goodbye if you fiddle with your diffuser.

- If the ceiling is low enough to bounce, then bounce works just a well. If the ceiling is too high for bounce, then diffusers also lose their effectiveness. They do depend on bounced light too.

Just my thoughts.

Haha. Most times MF = looking like pro but actually dunno what he's doing.

To be honest, I do not really use MF. I like AF. For me, my justification is that if I have to pay through my nose to get a camera with AF then I'm darn well going to make use of it! tongue.gif

U shoot macro, also using AF.

Added on August 13, 2012, 5:10 pm

Yeah wei, peaking mode is awesome, if i got a77 i lagi happy shooting macro tongue.gif
*
I have always said that macro is not on the list of what I normally shoot so no need MF loh... and also I don't even have freaking live view on my cam so peaking mode is definitely alien to me. biggrin.gif

Maybe when Sony has released the A99 and I have decided that the price is right, I may dabble with that peaking mode. As for now.. AF all the way! Haha.

Dunno what to comment wor... shot looks ok but seems like a little bit overexposed. I also dunno what lens you use but sharpness seems ok.

Do tell what lens you're using...

cycling with neck hang a slt,  hit over various of road bump, will hit impact to slt mechanism cause any type of failure?
*
Depends on where your cam hits when you go over bumps. If it hit against your body only then I don't think there will be much damage. If it hits against the handlebars or other metal bike parts then all bets are off.

Unless of course you leave the cam powered on. That might just push the steady shot mechanism over the edge.
