Geek, nice start! Try opt for a larger aperture size (smaller f-number) to get the background to melt away into a dreamy goo. It makes the background less distracting as well.

If age is unknown then I would suggest that you skip it. The f56 is at least 4 years old if not more. Top up your budget for another 200 bucks and you could get a new f43 with swivel head action!

Buying used flash is risky because:

1. You do not know how heavily the flash has been used. The bulb might be close to expiring.
2. Old flash units will affect the WB as flash tends to turn warmer the older they get.

Unless you are buying the flash to use for wireless and not as your main flash, I would suggest people to buy a new unit.

Thx. shoot flower, try using F3.5 tongue.gif

thanks for your feedback too keanhui...
btw, i shooting this under big sun (it was a sunny afternoon)...
if i push the aperture to wide open, my super fast shutter speed will affect the picture quality?
my ISO is only set at 100... i still found flash with diffuser is needed in order to show the inner deep middle part of the flower...
maybe sunny day really not suitable to take photo yawn.gif

Maybe you can try without flash, open up your aperture larger, and either shoot in RAW or use DRO level 3 to save the shadows.

Jimlim, like shootkk said, F43. it wont go wrong.

Geek, contrast is... errr -.- not shooting setting, more of image processing setting. the differences in tone, ur pic just lack of toning. put a little more tone, the image will pop.

Other than price, is there a reason for me to buy A57 instead of A77?
