good news is...dat only 1 of our new signing play last night....meaning all our other new arrival haven't have the opportunity to showcase their ability....this is still infact almost 95% of chelsea last season... lets hope for oscar, marin, moses, azpilicueta arrival to shake things up at chelsea later...

as much as i like lampard to play major role in this new seson, i think he will at most be our super sub. i think the real reason he is playing last night was because oscar is not available. oscar was bought to replace him, no?

i do agree on mikel being an integral part this new season. the next maybe need to get RB. then we are good to go.

Brazil Football Confederation blame Manchester United right-back Rafael for Olympic final defeat

The 21-year-old was singled out for criticism by the Confederation's official website after his individual error in the game at Wembley led to Mexico's opening goal

Manchester United right-back Rafael da Silva has been singled out for criticism by the Brazil Football Confederation for his mistake in the Selecao's 2-1 defeat against Mexico in the London 2012 Olympic gold medal match.

The 21-year-old was an ever-present throughout the tournament, but in the first minute of the final he dwelt on the ball, and after coming under pressure delivered a loose pass into the centre of the pitch, where it was intercepted on the edge of the box for Oribe Peralta to finish.

Brazil went on to struggle to create chances and Peralta went on to head a second in the second-half. Although Hulk managed to pull a goal back in stoppage time, it was not enough to prevent Brazil, who have never claimed the Olympic gold medal, having to settle for silver.

"Rafael knows he made a mistake that led to the first Mexican goal in the Olympic football final in the London 2012 Games," read the Brazil Football Confederation’s website.

"There's no denying it. Nevertheless, with his skill and determination, the young No.2 can't be tainted by the error.

"Mistakes are for correcting. Rafael knows that. Later, when things have calmed down, he will surely look at the move and learn from it. At the end of the day, as the saying goes, to err is human and we learn from our mistakes."

The unusual step contrasted with the approach of other members of the national team, including coach Mano Menezes who emphasised that his team were unable to equalise over the course of the match, and forward Neymar who believed all the players shared responsibility.

Menezes has been under pressure as Brazil prepare to host the 2014 World Cup and has come under heavy fire following the defeat, including from former national team striker Romario who indicated it could be his last game in charge.

I find it quite annoying that whenever a member of the thread reads a comment he doesn't agree with, the response is always "You've been playing too much Football Manager".

All of us are making opinions and suggestions here based on assumptions or guesswork. And seeing as no one here is a qualified manager or footballer, all opinions are equal.

It would be great if we could avoid using this default response to shoot down comments we don't agree with.

3-2 is not a bad result at all.
Iva red card spoil the games. the tackle really well called by the referee.
I'm sure the red card will give a wake up call for chelsea to sign a RB.
though I think sam is able to take that place.
in and all these is not Chelsea full power squad, yet we still get a decent result against MC.

Errmm that is our best eleven already, you cannot expect OSCAR and MARIN to start ahead of LAMPARD or RAMIRES at community shield even if they are available. And always remember those we sign are "hot prospect" not "world class" player yet. It will take a few matches to see whether they will be able to fit into CHELSEA, asking them to replace LAMP and RAM is just far too early.

im not sure, whether Marin is bought for 1st eleven or as substitution? he looks fit enough to be in the 1st eleven.

if he is our 1st eleven, he will be on right wing? playing top triangle with torres, mata and hazard? then where will ramires place then? hmm.gif can ramires playing holding midfield with lampard replacing mikel?

sorry to say mikel performance is yet consistence.

ramires as a holding midfield? possibly. i like the idea.

ramires to partner oscar or lamps. i personally don't like mikel style of play.
but i think RDM will prefer mikel anyways.

our midfield problem isn't solved yet. against city, everytime we intercept at our 3rd half, few passes til the halfway line, then we are clueless. seems like there is no one to pass to. is it because we are playing too wide from each other?

At the moment i cannot imagine we start with (as suggested),

RAMIRES, OSCAR
MARIN, MATA, HAZARD
TORRES

Suddenly our team lose a lot muscle and height, which might have problem in winning ball from the midfield, maybe later is possible when those new player already gel and can adapt with BPL physical game. Meanwhile i guess is back to the trusted line up + 70min sub for the newly signed to see how they fare + playing some good football + getting the result. Cant wait to see how TORRES and the team fare against parking the bus team.
