Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to return to Bayer Leverkusen with an offer in excess of £20m for their talented German striker Andre Schurrle.

The Blues were spurned by the Bundesliga side earlier this summer when their £16m bid for Schurrle was rejected by the club. The 21 year old has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in Germany after securing his move to Leverkusen at the end of last season from Mainz. The young star also featured in Joachim Loew’s squad for the Euros 2012 and started against Greece in the quarter finals. Schurrle has already been capped 17 times for Germany and has scored 7 times for the Mannschaft.

The versatile youngster who can play centrally as well out wide is believed to be keen on a move to the Stamford Bridge but the German side aren’t willing to part with him.

‘The matter is over and I have told Andre so,’ said Voller, Director of football at Bayer.

Roberto Di Matteo isn’t sure about Fernando Torres’ present form and with  the absence of any top striker in the squad barring the Spaniard, he wants to bring in Schurrle to put ample pressure on Torres for a spot in the starting line up.

i dont think a 21 years old with so much potential will want to come to our club as a sub or to push a side to play right side as what we have done to danny...

i think that we need a true right-side winger with the ability to step up as forward when torres/danny is injury, not the other way around.
