"15.56 BST: Chelsea: Being linked with the world, one player at a time. The club will complete a deal for Marseille defender Cesar Azpilicueta in the next 48 hours, the Daily Star, reporting other reports, reports.

The paper says the Blues will pay £7 million for the Spain international. Newcastle and Liverpool are also thought to have expressed an interest in the 22-year-old but, according to L’Equipe, Roberto Di Matteo’s the manager leading the race.
"

interesting news indeed. surprisingly cheap for a player of his stature

I do hope Oscar can live up to his reputation in epl.

I'd say with Oscar and Cesar, we'd be complete!
But heard we bid for Lewandowski. Prolly as backup for Torres?

dont put high hope yet. so far since ranieri era, only few of our signing have made it.

look at mutu, great start but then stalled
not to mention swp, crespo, kezman blablabla the list goes on.

i dont know why we havent got a signing that have immediate impact like Chicarito or say, VDV, n the everton striker whatever his name is

yes i concede that luiz cahill and ramires is a good signing.

but i'd like to see more from them. i prefer luiz to be defensive midfielder rather than cntreback. his passing ability and vision doesnt do justice to him when hes playing at the back. you can see sometimes when he goes forward, his pass is one real beauty.

i agree with aliffhilmi

and hazard, mata, marin all can switch position between them or perhaps between any two of them

oscar and mikel sounds good enough. lamps to comee in after 60/70 mins

if this is the way Chelsea going to play, i don't think our team is interesting to watch at all.

still, when the tempo is high, we slow down again and again letting the opposition to get back to defend. and we try to crack them with 8-9 bodies at the back. i still don't see beautiful pass, plus we were sluggish with the defence.

i can see hazard can get past players but most of it he will fall down. he need to adapt quickly.

its disappointing to see our team play like this although its just pre season.

kerp's right.

i dont want Di Matteo to be axed, as Im sure te next candidate as our boss is Pep.

other than less dynamic and fluent attacking, our problem lies at the back. It pains me to say this but Terry was a little bit of sloppy now. I dont know it is because of the FA case ongoing but he needs inspire the team.

didn't cavani flop badly at the olympics? missed an open goal against U.A.E as well. didn't catch his other performances though..anyone care to give a short review?

wonder who was the last italian striker to make it big in the epl. err...paulo di canio anyone?even then his best haul was only with west ham, getting 9 goals in 19 appearances. one thing's for sure, adding another striker will either result in an unhappy torres or studge. although i don't mind strengthening that position further (just look at how many strikers man city has!) our priority should be getting a quality RW first.
*
last italian?
our dear zola of course. haha.. cant think of any other italian.

in fact, aquilani was the last italian player i know playing in the epl. i think we should get a dutch player. huntelaar as jovi said. the dutch has proven record of settling anywhere and any league.

same problem all over.

no where and nobody to pass at 3rd quarter of the pitch.
i thought hazard will provide support on the left, but he had a quiet game

terry is really sloppy today. poor clear during that 2nd goal

yeah. to me 3-2 is still a respectable result.

im particularly disappointed with terry.

if you guys notice, when torres got the ball, there are no wingers to support him. i'd like hazard to stay up front to be ready to support torres because he cant hold the ball like drogba, and cole to be really defensive to cover for hazard.

wingers is still what we lack of at the moment. i'm not sure that hazard is a natural winger. thats why hes had a quiet game i suppose?

and mikel is not that good as holding midfielder. thats about it. our weakness at the moment from my pov.

i believe his determination surpasses bale. because its not easy for him to break into the XI of chelsea

QUOTE(MoonRider @ Aug 12 2012, 11:55 PM)

Wow, I am actually quite surprised to some of the comments here.
Personally I am very satisfied with the result.
Getting a full fit team after 90 minutes and without an injury is the main aim for a pre-season match.Perhaps Ivanovic red card is the worst scenario.
I am all good with Hazard, I don't think we should really judge him by just one game. People are just making his fail backheel sounds like some kind of super-serious-terrible-heskey-esque trick.
It's obvious that the players and RDM know this is a pre-season match.
Instead of going for a defensive shape in HT, RDM stick with 3 attackers infront and 2 midfielders. As a result we conceded 3 goals in just 20(?) minutes. Take it as a lesson learnt.
It's actually better for the team to experience a 10 vs 11 game before the season start, at least they know how are they going to cope with that in a real competitive match.
Worst player will be Terry imo. Best would be Torres.Ramires then Cole.
*
but when he fall down it was really funny. i also laugh. laugh.gif

defence wise, i think probably terry is just not focused, im sure he will do better. and i do agree with you lot that we need a RB

what is a non first team game?

QUOTE(Alexdino @ Aug 14 2012, 02:00 PM)
im not sure, whether Marin is bought for 1st eleven or as substitution? he looks fit enough to be in the 1st eleven.

if he is our 1st eleven, he will be on right wing? playing top triangle with torres, mata and hazard? then where will ramires place then? hmm.gif can ramires playing holding midfield with lampard replacing mikel?

sorry to say mikel performance is yet consistence.
*
ramires as a holding midfield? possibly. i like the idea.

ramires to partner oscar or lamps. i personally don't like mikel style of play.
but i think RDM will prefer mikel anyways.

our midfield problem isn't solved yet. against city, everytime we intercept at our 3rd half, few passes til the halfway line, then we are clueless. seems like there is no one to pass to. is it because we are playing too wide from each other?
