Serendipity: thanks again for the input. I guess i will stick with your suggestion to check out on my last day tour.

I find tesco lotus has so many things to buy.. Haven't try BIG C before.. But i guess should be more or less the same with Tesco Lotus? If yes then just head on to Big C..

Problem now is assuming I grab TOO MANY things at Big C, how am i suppose to walk siam square night market with so many things to carry?  Haha !! Moreover it's like one whole day at pratunam shopping spree... Need to think of a way to carry all those stuff..
*
Bring trolley bag? hehehe... tongue.gif

Or buy some at Big C, then find a Tesco Lotus that's nearest to you and buy more... hmm.gif

Recently got back from Bangkok last few days.

Stayed at Siam Swana, next to Asia Hotel. It's a nice place to stay, only thing was no windows and the free wifi in the room was quite horrible, the housekeeping did not do a good job either, can see that the floor was not swept properly. Very near to BTS station, there is a 7 Eleven opposite the hotel and a pharmacy behind it. At night, the streets will be filled with hawkers selling all sorts of food. There's also free parking and a sushi restaurant at the entrance of the hotel, which seems to be having quite good business everyday. Cost me 1500 baht per room per night.

hello!

Im just back from BKK last saturday.

my experience:

stayed at Budacco Hotel - very pleasant stay and good service, friendly staff. The staff helped us to get taxi for us to back to airport on last day. The receptionist helped to make numerous calls to taxi driver to confirm the appointment and give suggestions and advise on all our trip. The receptionist also brought us out to the Pratunam market (which is just outside) to get a taxi and be our translator to the taxi driver. Cons is..most taxi does not know the exact location. So, just print out the thai language direction map from Budacco website and show the taxi driver.

Shopping experience - for girls, Platinum Mall - you need AT LEAST one day to shop there. Even one day, you may not able to finish. LOL. Pratunam market which is located just outside Budacco hotel, are selling CHEAP stuff!! Cheaper than Platinum Mall. So, if you cant stand the hot sun, then go Platinum Mall during afternoon, and Pratunam market - early morning (they starts 4am) and night. Both places selling identical stuff, but Pratunam market cheaper la. I managed to get 60thai bath men shirt at Pratunam market! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

I only managed to visit Grand Palace as most of my time spent at shopping already. sweat.gif For those never been there, it is worthwhile to visit. The entry pay is 500thai bath and you are required to wear long pants or at least covered until your knee. I wore shorts and I required to pay deposit of 200thai bath to rent the sarong. sweat.gif

RM120 nett/nite. location wise..just right in the Pratunam market. so..shop till you drop! tongue.gif 10-15mins walk to Platinum mall and Central
World (Naraya shop there) and opposite is Big C supermarket. but not so close to skytrain or BTS station. So you may
consider this as well.
staff - friendly and helpful
cleanliness - clean
room size - ok for two. no worry.
they required 1000thai bath as deposit which is refundable on last day. we exchange the 1000thai bath with RM100 as
deposit on last day because we short of thaibath to shop. tongue.gif

please remember to exchange more money here instead exchange in bangkok because the rate is very low there. sad.gif

oh ya..i booked from a forummer here. his price is good. smile.gif PM me for the contact if you interested.

You can actually email them to enquire about it. Email: info@somboonseafood.com

Badathong should be the nearest branch if you stay at Siam area.

Withdrawn 5000 bath from an ATM in Bangkok recently as I ran out of cash and Maybank charged me RM536. After deducting the RM10 processing fee, the exchange rate turns out to be 10.52, and with the RM10 fee the rate is 10.72. The MidValley exchanger rate on that day is 10.6. Since the processing fee is fixed, the more you withdraw, the rate will be better. If you intend to exchange more than RM1000, then ATM might be your better choice as you no need to travel far to MidValley to get the good rate. But beware, please only withdraw from international banks' ATM as local Thai banks will charge you extra 150 bath for their processing fee. I used Aeon ATM, which is widely available e.g in Big C, Terminal 21, etc.

I will share more tips in BKK when I have more time later. thumbup.gif
