Guys,

Am currently drafting my itinerary for Apr-13 Bangkok Trip. Hope you guys can assist with the following queries:

Is it possible to visit to Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Wat Pho in the morning then follow by floating market in the afternoon?

Looking at this site, Wat Arun seem to be across the river. Anything special on Wat Arun? If nothing special, we might just skip it.

Noticed that there are two floating markets, Amphawa and Damnuak Saduak. Which is the best among these two?

Thanks.

My draft itinerary for 19-23 April Bangkok trip as follows:

1st day. Arrive BKK 4-5pm (Friday)
- take taxi to airport to drop down the luggage
- head over to chocolate ville for dinner. Decided to dine there due to the good ambience since im going with my spouse.
- visit sum luan night market (near to baiyoke sky)

Question:
Bside dinning and photo taking, any other recommended activities at chocolate ville? Their FB seems to be in Thai language mostly.

2nd day (Saturday)
- visit Chatuchak market aka JJ market. Since chatuchak aka JJ market open at 10am.
- visit asiatique in the evening

Question:
Any recommended place to visit before heading to JJ market since it operates at 10am?

3rd day (Sunday)
- visit grand palace, Wat Arun and Wat Pho
- visit floating market either amphawa or Damnuen Saduak (tentative)
- try the bbq food on amphawa floating market, the bbq squid is recommended (sold from boat, eat on shore)
- visit China Town, then dine at T&K Seafood

ALERT!!
- please BEWARE of people telling you that the Wat Pho / Grand Palace are closed and offer or suggest you to go somewhere else instead. They will most probably bring you to somewhere that sells gems. We almost got duped once.

4th day (Monday)
- Shopping spree. From Platinum mall to pratinum market, then to big c, siam paragon and MBK
- naraya <- perfect for ladies to shop there
i) naraya outlet can be found on central world plaza shopping mall or MBK mall
- Do remember to visit the Erawan Shine (4 Face Buddha)
- Lunch and dinner at any one of the recommended places as follow:
i) Level 6 Food Court @ MBK Mall
ii) Level 7 Food Court or Zen Restaurant (Japanese Food) @ Central World
iii) Food Court @ Big C
iv) Somboon Seafood if any outlet nearby ( try to find out the location)
v) McDonald Samurai Pork Burger

5th day (Tuesday)
- walk around the nearby area
- check out at 11am and take taxi to airport and depart Bangkok (flight at 1pm)

Please advise on the above. Thanks!

Looks good. !!

Suggest you try out level 7 at Central world. "Famous, Cheap & Good Restaurants" there. Zen ... Highly recommended. Forget the Food court @ Big C. Unless Pork Burger at Macdonals  laugh.gif

The Floating mkt is quite far from BKK. About 1 to 1.5 hours to get there. So ......  hmm.gif

So if want to see China town, then go on Sat. Temples then across to China town. Check out the small lanes, etc and food there. Sun ..... Many shops in Chinatown ...CLOSED.

Chacutak Mkt can be done on Sun.

Have a Good Trip.  thumbup.gif

Thanks man.

For the Big C, i am referring to the gourmet market that some forumers mentioned here. Sorry for the confusion.

Would like to try out the pork burger @ McD? Wonder if its the same as the one selling in HK? If yes, then i can just skip it.

Thanks for your tips on Chinatown. Will switch accordingly as per your advise.

Btw, do you have any hotels to recommend? Havent really decide on that yet!

Hi all,

im going to BKK on 14-16 march and will be landing at DMK airport. I have rough itinery in my mind already and would welcome any suggestion from everybody. Im going with 5 ladies including myself.

First day
9am - touch down DMK airport and take taxi to Budacco Hotel, drop off luggage. shopping day around pratunam area, platinum mall and such.
my question is...we are 5 in a group...do they have mpv to fit 5 of us? or do we need to take two separate taxis?  unsure.gif
how about the taxi charges...about how much from DMK airport to Pratunam area, so that im not being con later. hehehe.. im aware that toll fees to be pay by us after reading from the thread here.

at night, planning to go Chinatown for dinner. is chinatown accessible by lrt or need to take taxi? any good restaurant or food must try at Chinatown?

Second day
6am + - planning to go floating market as i floating market is quite far from BKK. so gotta depart early. will get hotel ppl to arrange for us. then coming back pratunam area and going to visit Grand Palace. Grand Palace - open everyday right? my second day will be on Friday. What other place can we visit nearby Grand Palace? Again, the question is, Grand Palace is only accessible using taxi? around how much the charges? advise to use meter taxi, i presume?

as for dinner, heard that Son Bon seafood is nice. probably will look for this. any comment on this?

Third day - saturday
our flight back to KL is 4.20pm. we wish to go to Chatuchak market. Is it possible? What time Chatuchak market opens? My only worry is i afraid we are too rushing. Any centre for us to keep our luggage at Chatuchak area?? or else, we have to keep our luggage in hotel, and come back to hotel, and take taxi to DMK airport. How bad is the traffic at around 2pm?

Appreciate any feedback or comments or suggestions on my above itinery. Thank you!  smile.gif

I answered what i have researched and known.

Beside Grand Palace, you can visit Wat Pho (500m South of Grand Palace) for the Largest reclining Buddha in Thailand. After that, you can take the express boat across the river to Wat Arun.

Please use meter taxi in Thailand. Avoid taking tuk tuk as they might bring you to gem factory to claim their petrol voucher. And, the journey to your destination can be longer than usual.

SomBoon Seafood is famous for its curry crab. You can however google for it. They have 5 branches in Thailand.

Chatuchak aka JJ Market open at 10am.

Amphawa is worth the trip.  wub.gif

Just take a bus from Victory Monument to Maeklong. If you want to, you can stay a little while and take a look at the Train Market. It was fun to see how quick the market people packed up their stuff when then train comes in and how quick things turn back to normal when the train passed by.

After that, you can take a songthaew to Amphawa and enjoy the floating market. When we were there, we only walked on the side street and bought food from the boats that stopped there. We didn't get on a boat to go to the canals/river so I can't tell you how much it'd cost you.

Also, we were there in 2010 and back then, things and food were very cheap at Amphawa market coz they catered to the locals. I hope things are still the same.  tongue.gif

Anyway, just a tip, get your hotel people to write the names of the places you'd like to go on a piece of paper so you can just show the locals at the bus station which bus you'd want to get on.

Thanks. Hope things remain the same as 2010. Haha~

Serendipity: many thanks for the input !

Anything to see / worth to go at the Siam Square Night Market? Any good place for dinner around Pratunam area?

Day 3- I got my hotel extended to 2PM max.. But it's abit risky, as Mamatour says the tour will end and reach Kao San road at 1pm.. But Mamatour allow us to carry our luggage to their van.. So i guess shouldn't be an issue..

Visiting Tesco LOTUS is a must as i have stuff to buy tongue.gif So any idea where is the NEAREST Tesco Lotus from Kao San road? Or similar hypermarkets around that area?

I noticed you been talking bout "mamatour". Is it a tour agency? How do you engage their service? Good?

Thanks.

You can actually email them to enquire about it. Email: info@somboonseafood.com

Badathong should be the nearest branch if you stay at Siam area.
