Recently got back from Bangkok last few days.

Stayed at Siam Swana, next to Asia Hotel. It's a nice place to stay, only thing was no windows and the free wifi in the room was quite horrible, the housekeeping did not do a good job either, can see that the floor was not swept properly. Very near to BTS station, there is a 7 Eleven opposite the hotel and a pharmacy behind it. At night, the streets will be filled with hawkers selling all sorts of food. There's also free parking and a sushi restaurant at the entrance of the hotel, which seems to be having quite good business everyday. Cost me 1500 baht per room per night.

400B most likely is the standard price if u are booking through the hotel reception or from waiting taxis outside the hotel. Most taxis hailed from the roadside use meter even without u having to ask for it. But for the convenience and peace of mind if u are catching a flight, 400B is not too expensive... But normally, they use the highway (toll included in the 400B).

Yup. 400B is the standard price if you get the hotel reception to get a taxi to come to the hotel. I paid 400B as well for hotel to airport, and it was around 6am somemore.

Actually if you guys are not in a rush and don't mind being brought to those jewellery/tailor shops for the taxi or tuk tuk driver to collect their commission from, then you guys can tell the driver and they usually charge a very minimal sum for taking you to your destination.

I always find their 7eleven more interesting than ours. Even their nescafe in can is so much better than here but at a cost obviously. Their sandwiches n snack counter really have quality unlike ours.

Yup, 7-11 in other countries are way more interesting than ours. laugh.gif

Not worth it and i wont suggest anything out of your itinerary. U may end up spending to buy based on impulse buying than your cost of destination is double or triple. Stick to the plan. Our tuk tuk near hotel charge us thb 200 to grand palace. If we go to jewel shop , he offer us thb 100 but must spent 40 min there. We wave a taxi and it cost us thb 80, i tips the taxi driver thb 20.

Yea, for those with an itinerary planned out means you guys have no time to waste la.
But for some that has been there a few times and are taking a free and easy trip and wants to go to the jewellery or tailor shop then they can consider it.
