QUOTE(gmhafiz @ Jul 9 2012, 07:56 PM)
Hi all,

I might be selling my desktop when I retur from overseas (too bulky to carry) but will retain my hard disks which I might put into NAS. I have a smartphone but I will need a bigger device to get my work done.

1. Preferred Brand: ASUS, samsung, etc but no HP, compaq or apple.
2. Budget: <RM5000
3. Usage: browsing, light gaming, watch video, writing reports, etc.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 13"-15"

Others:
- ultrabook
- must have at least 128GB SSD.
- IPS screen
- Must have ivy bridge cpu, i5
- not i7 because I'm not into photo/video editing
- long battery life

I am very confused with so many models (and submodels). Is such ultrabook available in the market?
*
Pretty much these two if you want IPS screen nod.gif
13"
Asus ZenBook
[Ultrabook] UX31A-R4005V, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1920 x 1080)@RM3499[1.3kg], 4GB, W7HP
[Ultrabook] UX31A-R4003V, i7-3517U + Intel HD4000 + 256GB SSD + (1920 x 1080)@RM4499[1.3kg], 4GB, W7HP

Try to go for this one if possible, bargain abit to lower the price~
The performance gain over there is quite significant over other sub-RM2k laptops nod.gif

Hey guys need some help deciding on which laptop to buy smile.gif
Gaming laptop (reasonable quality would do)
1. any brand would do, eyeing Alienware (popular and good warranty)
2. 4 to 5k range
3. Gaming
4. 14-15.6

If you happen to know where to get them (preferably online, needs to be trustworthy though) please do let me know biggrin.gif

Thanks a bunch!
*
If you're into gaming performance, then these two would fit just nice brows.gif
15.6"
Asus G55VW-S1095V, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GTX660M (2GB) + (1920x1080)@3999, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W7HP

MSI GE60, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + Bluray@RM4199, 8GB, 1TB(7200rpm), W7HP, 2 years warranty, gaming mouse & backpack, Free SteelSeries QCK Mass mousepad

As for AW, the only model within your budget range is the M14x, its not a bad laptop, just that its compromised in terms of gaming performance compared to 15.6" notebooks since it was built with portability in mind... I don't really recommend it hmm.gif

hi guys, pls help me out a bit.

1. Preferred Brand - None
2. Budget - <RM1.5k
3. Usage - Normal use
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 14"
5. and must have 5 years warranty (is this possible?)
*
Don't think most manufacturers will provide such long warranties hmm.gif
Most are 3 years only...
I don't think any laptop fit your requirements.. those with 3 years local limited warranty are either above your budget, or doesn't come with OS sad.gif

Anyone can tell me which of these suit me light gaming like dota 2, hd movies, surf nets etc.

1. Preferred Brand - None
2. Budget - Around 1.3-1.4k
3. Usage - Normal use and some gaming like dota 2.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 14" or above

Currently eyeing on these model. Which has the best performance?
A43TK-VX024 A6-3420 2GB 500GB ATI 7670 14" DOS or
A43SD-VX065 B960 2GB 500GB NVIDIA GT610 2GB 14" DOS or
I3-2350 2GB 500GB NVIDIA GT610 2GB 14" DOS

If not mistaken the A6 is quad core and can run turbo. Will it be any better than the other 2?
*
The llano-powered Asus would be better in terms of gaming performance if that's what you mean laugh.gif
Even though its a quad core, the CPU performance is not exactly very good, but you could always overclock though biggrin.gif

I am planning to buy a new laptop; Asus brand prefer, soon. My budget is Rm1500. So, with Rm1500, what's kind of "ultimate" laptop I can get?

It is not for gaming. The usage is more towards internet surfing, watching drama online, downloading and doing paper works. Any suggestion and recommendation?

Most likely I will try to get it at Lowyat Plaza there.
*
This one would be good enough for your usage nod.gif
14"
Asus A43Sd-VX216, B960 + Nvidia GT610M@RM1399[2.2kg], FreeDOS, 2GB, 320GB(5400rpm)

Just use the remaining money to get an OS laugh.gif
If you're good at bargaining, you can get the one recommended by finalmakers within RM1.5k as well, but do take note that its also FreeDOS (windows not installed)

Usually Intel processors are better in terms of CPU performance, but their intergrated GPUs lose out to AMD llano's, which are basically on par with mainstream GPUs nod.gif
