Bitfenix Prodigy - A Review by Cyntrix Technologies

user posted image
The Prodigy, landed in Bolehland just about as quickly as the rest of the world. Kudos to our Bitfenix distributor. *thumbs up* The box is well padded, about as huge as Silverstone SUGO 02 back in the days. Let's crack this open

user posted image
Smells fresh...

user posted image
It's solid, well assembled, no funny defects, no rattling, no factory scratches (even if there was 1-2, it's normal), no dent, no bend.

user posted image
The handles are made out of solid ABS, rubber coated as seen in most Bitfenix casings, as well as casing such as the Cooler Master Storm Trooper/Stryker

user posted image
The power button and reset button, as well as the USB ports are located on the right of the casing. For ease of use, you would want to place the casing to your left. To keep cables hidden, you'd place it on your right.

user posted image
Upon opening the side panel you can see how roomy it is. An ITX board with a full tower cooler, full length GPU, full size PSU, and a 5.25" ODD fits in there.

user posted image
Removing the drive bay involves pinching the two plastic tabs on the top and bottom of the cage and just simply pulling it out. No tools needed, just your hands.

user posted image
Top grill is flushed and secured with a plastic tab. To remove the top grill, one would need to push the tab to the opposite direction and either use a cello/masking tape to help lift the cover. If you have sticky fingers, you probably can lift it just fine smile.gif We couldn't...

The grilled, lifted by pushing it upwards from below. You could see that there is (or are, as you would see in the next picture) a D shaped cut out to the corner of the casing's roof where you can slide your finger in to lift the cover upwards.

user posted image
The cover removed.

user posted image
Installing the PSU involved removing the four thumb screws which secures the psu back plate to the casing. Heavy duty cast metal is used here so it does not warp. This system was first seen used in Lian Li casing for as far as we could remember.

user posted image
For the WC enthusiast, you can fit a 200mm radiator on the front. The radiator that you are looking for is Phobya 200mm smile.gif To install the 200mm radiator would require you you to completely remove the bottom hdd cage. There's room within the casing to mount your SSDs. Do note that if you opt to use a 200mm radiator here, you may have some issues with full length GPU, if not now, it may be in the future. A 240mm radiator could also be mounted here with both the ODD and HDD bay removed.

user posted image
The rear accommodates a 120mm/140mm fan. The Corsair H80 would fit without issue.

user posted image
Removing the screws would allow you to remove the ODD cage which then allow you to install a 240mm rad on the roof/front of the casing.

user posted image
Corsair H100, XSPC RASA RS240, EX240, would all fit on the roof, the ODD bay must be sacrificed. External DVD drive could be used if you need an ODD.

user posted image
Here's another view showing the mounting holes for the fans and radiator.

IMHO, the Prodigy will change how people look at ITX system before.
This casing is very nice looking without sacrifice some important feature like ability to WC, High tower CPU cooler, Long GC and standard size PSU.

The rear view of the PSU cage. PSU cables can be routed upwards or hidden behind the HDD cage. Semi modular PSU is highly recommended for this casing. We speak from experience here 0:)

user posted image
Power button and USB are soldered onto a black PCB and mounted to the right side panel. The cables are relatively long, hiding them would be challenging, we are up for it!

user posted image
Cables are all black therefore even if they were not sleeved, you'd hardly see them when routed carefully. If you wish to sleeve them, it's still doable.

user posted image
A full front shot of the White Prodigy. The white Prodigy comes with a solid front facia with no grills. The Black version comes with perforated front facia (assuming from pictures, we did not open one of verify)

user posted image
Here's a sizing comparison with the Corsair Vengeance C70 mid tower casing in white.

The C70 is another portable casing made to sustain lots of transportation. Built with full metal chassis and external frame, hard powder-coated in white. Casing accommodates 240mm radiator on the roof, 240mm radiator on the floor 120mm radiator in the rear (if you must). Full size ODD, and three 3.5" hdd can still be installed with all the aforementioned radiators installed. Side window to see through the interior.

The choice is yours. If you want to buy them, you know where to find them!

Looks like there are only a few cut out in the casing where you could install rubber grommet. With a semi modular casing, you won't need any of them though

read in some review b4...material used for both feet and the grips are made of a material BitFenix has dubbed "FyberFlex". It is both sturdy but also extremely flexible, so that you could push down on these all the way without breaking it. This also means that the Prodigy wobbles slightly when you poke it.

so how do u find it Cyntrix Tech? is is really extremely flexy?
if fully loaded will it give a lot of tense and would it break?

Someone tested and you can watch it in youtube. He tried to knock and bend it to extreme but the handle still can withstand it. I don't think anyone will abuse it to that extend but yes, this casing is quite tough.

Lian Li will break way before the Prodigy. Prodigy's side panel quality is as thick and heavy as Fractal.

Instead of taking after the Intel Power Mac shape, the case design borrows more from the curvaceous older G3. Which is a good thing. I've always wondered what the PM G3 would look like had it gone on a diet.

Although being that size, it kind of defeats the purpose of a mini ITX form factor. Still, if you need to lug a rig to a LAN gaming party, this should impress people more than an Alienware.

The floor of the casing accommodates a 240mm Radiator. The drive cage must be removed.

user posted image
Stock drive cage houses 7 hdds in total. 200mm fan installed. Phobya 200MM fits here.

user posted image
To remove the cage, one must remove the screws securing it.

user posted image
Top of the casing houses another 200mm fan. There's room for another 200MM fan. Extra fan can be purchased as an add on. 360mm Radiator could be installed on the roof. High profile radiators like the XSPC RX360, Alphacool UT60 fits on the roof. Fans must be moved to the top, below the roof grill.

Another 360mm radiator fits in the front. A hole bypass is available in front to allow the 360mm to slide through. Pictured here is the XSPC EX360.

Bitfenix also prepared a bay for those who intend to remove the bottom cage.

Any mobo would fit in the Collosus.

If you are talking about the Prodigy then you will need to go with an ITX mobo. Just about any graphic card will fit.

There are only 2 Z77 ITX mobo in the market. Zotac (readily available now) and ASRock (end of the month). The Zotac can do 4.4 GHZ easily with both 3570k and 3770k:

If you are transferring your current setup to a Prodigy, you just need to change the mobo.

BitFenix Unveils Ghost
QUOTE
Today, BitFenix is proud to announce its latest chassis design - Ghost. Equipped with an all new silencing material while supporting high-end hardware such as water cooling radiators and long graphics cards, Ghost is the silent PC chassis that packs a serious punch.
"After changing the way people think about the mini-ITX form factor with Prodigy, fans around the world have been wondering what would happen if BitFenix were to design a chassis with focus on silence. Today, it gives us great pleasure to reveal the answer to that question - Ghost," says BitFenix Product Manager David Jarlestedt. "Extremely silent yet surprisingly capable, we believe fans of silent chassis are going to fall in love with our newest creation."

Tuned for Silence. Built for Vengeance.
Ghost begins with a modern minimalistic look that blends into virtually any decor. Its clean lines are supported by a single silver arch, the shape of which is mirrored perfectly by the front door vents. Coating the outside is a new surface treatment from BitFenix dubbed NanoChrome. This specially developed coating combines an enamel with mother-of-pearl powder, which is then applied to the surface of the case and heated to high temperatures. The result is a uniform finish that perfectly blends together both plastic and metal parts.

Pricing and Availability
BitFenix Ghost carries an MSRP of 89€ in the EU, $99 in North America, and will be available on store shelves at the end of September.

The Prodigy casing weighs 7kg.
Average ITX casings are about 3kg or below.

anything less than 160cm in length. 160cm will give a very tight bend to the cables.

the best fit for it is to go with non modular psu..because the root of the non modular cable is in the psu itself + the cables easy to bend as soon as it comes out from the psu
if modular the root of the cables starts at psu's male connector..u will find it will very hard to bend the modular cable in prodigy..most people with modular psu modded the cage, cut it ,so they can have enough room to use the modular without bend it so tight

Pretty much all Corsair TX, HX, and AX 650 fits in there no problem. It's a pain to hide non modular psu cables in this casing. Then again, you can't see anything regardless how pretty you make the Prodigy anyay

Perhaps Seasonic/FSP/CoolerMaster don't fit but Corsair TX/HX/AX fits just fine. It depends on how you route the cable. We can even squeeze in a whole set of Sleeved extension cable into the casing.

btw,
is there any difference for the airflow(front) between black and white prodigy? im interested in the white one. And the front fan will be only main intake (230mm fan). So, is the difference noticeable between white and black?

btw, is spectre 230 fan and controller available?

yea... minimal is of course. I mean is it noticeable? if not, i hope bitfenix will consider black solid front panel whistling.gif

also, for asrock z77, whats the list of air cooler can be fitted for this mobo without blocking the pci-e slot?

You'd probably get some difference in temps but I doubt it'all be much of a difference. Yes you can get the recon or the hydra pro from the Lynn gs, try pmming APES, cyntrixtech and hikari85

+1, agree with the build quality of the chassis had a look at the shops and its solid for a small chassis. I'll recommend this over the CM 120 Adv as things are kinda tight in a chassis thats any smaller the Prodigy is much more roomy and it looks great thumbup.gif

but yeah most itx board is not cheap so have to set aside around RM350 just for the mobo

That'll depends on your reasoning, I for one don't agree with the price of Asus components tongue.gif onboard sound should be the same IMHO.. unless ur talking abt dedicated soundcards

yes! Gf pretty + gaming = awesome win! anyway, the prodigy is now all stock except the fans, all been changed to xigmatek's orange led fans for front top and rear. but really liking the new corsair h80i. however, she said she doesnt want her pc to be overclocked so kinda pointless to install h80i inside. what I really need is to upgrade the motherboard and processor first. currently its current on a zotac g41 wifi and e7200. if got extra budget at end of year, gonna upgrade it to 2500k + mini itx z68/z77 motherboard. upgrade graphic card from 5830 to gtx670.

I'm interested in a Bitfenix Prodigy mini ITX build, what parts can I get with a RM3000 budget with emphasis on casual gaming (MMO, Starcraft 2) and surfing the internet?

Yes, the Green Prodigy does look striking doesn't it?? to tell you the truth, I'm not a fan of anything green in colour but bitFenix never ceased to amaze me so far..

and just you guys wait... soon there'll be more chassis coming up.. the Ronin, Shadow and Comrade so more headaches for us to choose which chassis smile.gif

and to add it all up.. there will be a new PSU line as well rclxm9.gif dubbed the Fury

Finally... a BitFenix Flō Headset cool.gif

Just wait for Computex 2013 in June icon_idea.gif

From what i'd gathered, Its an matx case with added lightings. kinda within the ballpark of the prodigy...look sweet though wub.gif

the Green and Blue would be the latest edition to the series, should be available a few weeks after Computex 13

No worries, no matter how you angle the shot, it will be and always be a Prodigy wink.gif

Besides that, the Prodigy M is still a prototype at the moment so the layout is not finalized

the matx prodigy. mobo is flipped upside down is it? thats what i've seen in recent pics. but the fan is at the bottom? wont this interfere with airflow for gpu? correct me if i'm wrong for my knowledge is noob level hehe~
*
If we flipped the mobo upside down, then it will be mounted on the roof of the chassis cause originally the mobo placement is flat right above the PSU wink.gif hehe

Jokes aside; at the moment it is placed BTX-style and yes the fan is at the bottom as seen in the pictures. Not too sure how disturbed the airflow will be but as nothing is finalized yet (still prototype).

I'm sure that the R&D dept will put more thoughts into this before launch but just in case, you could place your feedback in our facebook page to make yourself heard as well wink.gif the links are at my siggy below

Too bad in that video he didn't really cover much about the interior of the new cases. Especially mATX chasis that catch my eyes.
Somehow mATX prodigy design seems not so capable to fit much things like previous mITX one, feel pretty upset sad.gif

ejoeflizzow the fan should power up using just a 3-pin fan header, it comes with an adaptor to a 4-pin molex should you run out of the fan headers on the mobo, so yes, if you wanna power it via SATA power you could just get a Molex to SATA adaptor like the one you showed earlier wink.gif

Adding more fans means more airflow and yes will attract more dust in our environment, this is true no matter what chassis you own. Cleaning regularly will minimize the effect of dust accumulation and prolong the life of your components.

In your case, you could swap the front panel of the prodigy with a meshed custom front panel as another option to maximize the proficiency of the Bigwater A80 at the front while allowing passive airflow to be drawn into the Prodigy via the single 120mm Spectre and the dual fans from Palit Jetstream smile.gif

BitFenix Launches Prodigy M
The iconic small form factor chassis reengineered with micro-ATX compatibility

(BitFenix Design Lab, August 14, 2012) – Known for its clean yet modern designs, premier PC hardware designer BitFenix unleashes the all-new version of its critically and commercially acclaimed Prodigy chassis - the Prodigy M. As newest member of the Prodigy family, Prodigy M represents the most compact and highly compatible case in the micro-ATX segment, setting new standards in terms of mobility, compatibility, and design.

Featuring never-before-seen flexibility and styling in the mini-ITX segment, the original Prodigy has garnered over 100 media awards and accolades. Since then, the BitFenix Labs have been inundated with emails requesting a retooled version that accepts micro-ATX motherboards. Today, BitFenix is proud to officially release the Prodigy M - a case inspired by BitFenix fans around the world.

Headlining the Prodigy M is full compatibility with micro-ATX motherboards. For the first time, users will be able to build micro-ATX systems inside the same svelte dimensions of the original Prodigy, and enjoy all of the added expandability of the micro-ATX form factor.

With two variations of Prodigy now available, users can now choose the one that's right for their own builds. For storage mavens and water cooling enthusiasts, the original Prodigy is ideal for those types of users. For gamers looking for dual graphics systems with SLI or Crossfire, or for those users that need more than one expansion slot, the new Prodigy M is perfect fit for them. Either way, BitFenix fans can enjoy the signature styling and tremendous flexibility of the Prodigy.

The sophisticated design of the Prodigy line has always been an expression of modern elegance. Solid construction and flexibility are among the key strengths of this model.

The new Prodigy M not only offers plentiful expansion options, but also enables a new dimension of small form factor system builds. Its hallmark dual BitFenix FyberFlex™ Composite handles on the top and bottom subtly create a concave visual effect for an extremely modern yet powerful look. These handles are also strong yet incredibly flexible to absorb minor shocks during transport. The BitFenix SofTouch™ Surface Treatment adds further emphasis to the Prodigy M’s luxurious character. Integrated I/O positioned on the side panel come with dual USB 3.0 ports for easy access, and front and top removable mesh dust filters can be quickly removed for easy maintenance.

Moving to the interior of the Proidgy M is where the true innovation begins. Completely retooled to accommodate both Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards, Prodigy M can handle some serious hardware including dual long graphics cards (SLI or CrossFire) with its five PCI slots. Tower CPU coolers up to 160mm in height can be installed, as can slim water cooling radiators up to 240mm in length. And to keep things cool on the inside, up to five 120mm fans can be installed in the case for superb thermal performance.

Prodigy M offers an extremely flexible storage system. The removable storage rack can be outfitted with up to two 3.5" HDDs or three 2.5" SSDs. Add to that space on the bottom of the case for an additional two 3.5" drives, and the included SSD rack on the side panel for two 2.5" SSD, and you have a case with a ton of storage options. When using the bottom of the case for HDDs, Prodigy M even comes with a magnetic heat shield with a fine micro-textured surface that prevents warm air from the PSU from re-entering the case.

With the rising demands of compact PCs nowadays for flexibility, compatibility, and style, Prodigy M is the perfect case for this category. Offering an astonishing amount of capacity to fit the latest hardware, the new Prodigy M is a legend reborn.

-Mount at the bottom (inside) 2 HDD/SSD

I see that the Prodigy M is like smaller in terms of the space inside the case... So maybe its a little bit more tight to do work with the prodigy M....
And it seems like you cant fit 2x240mm rad without modding it..

i dont like the removable hdd rack..it will block the view of other hardware. better stay with the current prodigy layout then resizing the motherboard tray for m-atx size. something like this..just my 2cents laugh.gif hmm.gif

Actually you could fit one at the top, but it'll block some of your expansion slots

same here, don't like the removable hdd rack. 2 hdd at bottom are fine. if the case can be slightly bigger, and then move the mb tray little bit toward inside, so the additional ssd can be mount at the back of mb. lastly, offer side windows option, for those enjoy view inside of hardware all the time.

The rubberised surface gets sticky because the "paint" decomposes over time and exposure i think. I have other things with surfaces that has the stuff. Alcohol seems to dissolve it.

The carbon fibre looks cool rclxms.gif

I guess so, it kinda tricky tho. I've only did it once before. I have a music stand that has the rubberised handle. Over time it became sticky and I didn't like it. I googled the product and turns out other people were having the same problem. Some of them recommended alcohol.

What happened was the rubberised paint came off and revealed the hard plastic below the paint layer. i wasn't sure on the correct of applying the alcohol so i wet a rag with the alcohol and tried to wipe it off. I cant really remember what happened next, i think It became stickier and I decided the progress was too slow. i ended up going to the sink and poured the alcohol over the thing and spread it with my fingers. Then wash it off.

There was a slight discolouration to the material after that. Before the alcohol it was a matte black, and now it became a slightly greyish colour with soft white accents. Almost no stickiness after that.

sure, why not? As for wrapping the whole case, I don't feel like doing it now because I'm running out of carbon fibre vinyl, only enough to wrap up some small stuff. icon_rolleyes.gif
using isopropyl won't dissolve the rubber coating thoroughly and it might damage the plastic (it happened to some of my mechanical keyboard ABS keycaps long time ago), I used kontakt chemie label off to remove those residue instead. Still not a clean surface but at least it's smooth/ not sticky and I'm able to wrap it with the carbon fibre vinyl with no issue, well except for some air bubble which can be removed later on and you need a hair dryer to slightly heat up the carbon fibre vinyl so you can bend it easily.

Don't go for alcohol when it comes to cleaning something build/made from plastic materials.

Well, I didn't really notice any damage or melting of the plastic. Maybe it affects some types of plastics differently. The plastic that i worked with was quite thick.

I googled "how to remove rubber paint from plastic" just now and found this forum.
http://forums.vr-zone.com/hardware-depot/6...er-coating.html

Somebody asked how to remove the rubber on a Razer Lycosa Mouse. They seem to think mild ammonia is the answer. In glass cleaners...?

Does the Bitfenix Prodigy have this material?

lol bro, lycosa is a keyboard and yes, the rubberized surface feels kinda alike.
I once help my friend to remove the sticky rubber coating using the same kontakt chemie label off, clean as new.
Personally haven't really touched one yet, anybody willing to let me touch theirs? tongue.gif

Haha nicely done meme, though not everyone have experienced the same thing, probably there are difference in the environments that we're in?

Just so happens that BitFenix's signature is the Softouch surface treatment. Anyhow, not all BitFenix chassis has SofTouch treatment, Raider GunMetal and Ghost is currently the only 2 that is painted and chassis choice has always been subjective.

I believe most Prodigy users here are all using single 120mm rads so yes it will fit, even a 240 rad from XSPC will fit wink.gif here is a reference pict for XSPC 240 wink.gif

EDIT: some of our local Prodigy users here can attest to that as well smile.gif

Bro, maybe my description wasnt that clear...i understand that the front mount could b installed a 120mm rad but i plan to install a 200mm rad for the front, top 240mm n the back 120mm...what i concern is the clearance of the 120/140mm fan mount area...is it enough for another 120mm rad which is ex120?

whoa, thats cutting it very tight, I believe it is possible, but IMO you'd need to mount the fan for the rear 120 rad outside the chassis

a good idea is to ask the pros on this, they might have done it already, go ahead and PM APES in Facebook to get sound advice on this wink.gif

Heard from Bit-Tech :

QUOTE
Available in pleasingly simple selection of just three power ratings - 550W, 650W and 750W - buyers will be able to pick from either standard braided cables or snazzy-looking coloured, individually sleeved Alchemy cables, for a small extra fee.

The hydra pro is a discontinued product last I checked but I'll ask around just to be sure, however there might be some left in the shops, try PMing APES to see if they still have any wink.gif

and no... only hydra pro has that feature at the moment, no updates on any other products that could do it either

Nope, the Phenom series is designed without a 5.25" drive bay at the front. This is to cater for the growing community of PC users that doesn't use optical drives and would want to maintain a clean-uniform look at the front panel of their Rigs

well we do have other official resellers such as Idealtech, just have yet to get the complete list to update the front page.

However, there is no need to worry, all you as a consumer need to do is to return the defected goods to the shop where you bought them from and they'll handle the exchange with the distributor smile.gif

Its almost the same. I've asked GBros, Lingloong and a few of them.
I am thinking of modifying the casing to put ATX mobo inside.

Well, if remove everything u still need to make the backplate for mounting your mobo. Need sort of planning, design, and making it works. Kinda time consuming for lazy ppl like me biggrin.gif , I may just opt to get another ATX chasis that is small enough.

Atm, i will just stick to ITX mobo. All i need is to redesign a few thing and proper cable management from better air flow.
Still surveying a decent WC setup. biggrin.gif

well we do have other official resellers such as Idealtech, just have yet to get the complete list to update the front page.

However, there is no need to worry, all you as a consumer need to do is to return the defected goods to the shop where you bought them from and they'll handle the exchange with the distributor smile.gif
*
Thanks for the note Clem. However I have found that not all resellers whether authorised or not would agree to facilitate warranty claims even if you have bought the items from them and both principle and disti back the full warranty. This used to be endemic 10-15 years ago where the end-user has to claim for his own warranty from the principle, but nowadays majority of the authorised resellers help facilitate full warranty back to disti in order to differentiate themselves from the old-style traders. As for me as a consumer, I'm all for better customer service.

Thanks for the reply. I assume the warranty is facilitated by reseller Permanent Premium Technologies and disti Inter-Asia? Any other known authorised reseller other than PPTek that will help facilitate the warranty if the need arises?
*
We will provide warranty service to the casing from our authorized reseller.
We will not provide any service to the case that you bought from Parallel importer.

BitFenix Unveils Flo Headset
Crystal-clear audio from a premium PC headset design that's made to move

Attached Image

(BitFenix Design Lab, December 12, 2013) – Today, BitFenix is pleased to announce the first member of a brand-new audio lineup to the BitFenix collection -- the Flo™ Headset. Combining studio-engineered sound with signature clean yet modern BitFenix design, Flo delivers the audio you need at the PC and the styling you want on the road.

Made To Move
By applying signature BitFenix design philosophy to the world of personal audio, BitFenix has created a PC headset that not only sounds good when listening at home, but is also stylish enough for wearing when out and about. Removing the flexible microphone and using the included mobile audio cable transforms Flo from a PC headset into a premium lightweight headphone that drives stunning audio on-the-go. With Flo, PC headsets no longer need to stay with the PC.

Signature BitFenix Design
Coating the earcups is none other than BitFenix SofTouch™ Surface Treatment, lending a premium matte finish and soft tactile feel. Each earcup features an electroplated BitFenix logo and matching ring accent that provides a perfect contrast to the matte finish of the earcups. Available in four vibrant colors, Flo offers the clean and modern form that BitFenix is known for.

Crystal-Clear Audio
By partnering with an audio vendor with over 30 years of experience in professional audio solutions, BitFenix Flo delivers clear highs and lows, creating clear stereo sound and detail for a whole new sound experience. 40mm Neodymium drivers delivers superbly bright and balanced audio, while the closed-back design helps isolate external noise, allowing the user to experience their favorite movies, audiobooks and music on-the-go without distractions.

Comfortable and Lightweight
With earcups made with our new SoftFeel™ material, Flo provides tremendous comfort that is ideal for those long listening sessions. The pivoting ear cups and self-adjusting headband provide a perfect fit every time, while the steel frame construction offers optimal pressure during use. All of this is featured on a unit that is under 200g in weight. Flo is so comfortable, you might even forget you are wearing it.

Easy Control
Flo comes with a detachable 3.5 mm gold-plated stereo plug that can be connected to different devices such as portable music players, smartphones and tablets. The included in-line remote control with smooth sliding volume action not only makes it easy to adjust volume and microphone mute, but is coated in SofTouch Surface Treatment for excellent tactility.

The BitFenix Flo Headset will be available on store shelves in December.

For more information on the Flo Headset, please visit http://www.bitfenix.com.

I heard that some have tried and it actually fits, but the buttons will be upside down (if that's the side panel you're changing) and may affect how you would arrange your hardware inside the chassis

the difference lies in the internals, the original Prodigy fits only ITX motherboards while the Prodigy-M will fit the larger M-ATX motherboard

Similar designs are also available in our Phenom and Colossus Mini series

ASRock B75M-ITX
CoolerMaster Hyper T4 CPU Cooler
nvida geforce 650 gtx

is this okay for a gaming computer :B?
*
Good choice! the Prodigy is definitely a good chassis for a gaming rig
but in order for any of us here to be of help with the specs, it'd be best to state your budget wink.gif

I recommend posting on the RIG suggestion thread to get the rest of your specs wink.gif

p/s: try to focus more towards the GPU for gaming wink.gif

The build with Bitfenix Prodigy M .

Don't mind the Intel Stock Cooler sweat.gif

Still tinkering with a better cable management.

Sorry for the upside down pic. Will fixed it.

I cant say much on the CPU side but realtemp showing 35-38 in idle. That's with the stock Intel Cooler. Haha

Meanwhile , the GPU is idling @ 32'C. While gaming ( Metro Last Light) , the max temps recorded is around 73'C. I've also run Heaven Valley for 30 min and max is 78'C. With high ambient temperature in K.K , that is good enough I guess.

I also moved the stock bottom mounted fan to the top as intake for the GPU and it does help a bit.

are you using power extension cord? if yes try change it..or try connect to different power socket. if the problem still exist, definitely your PSU is the culprit.

using this setup only, the extension to the homeplug... later at home ill try to cabut the homeplug.. hmm.gif

Edited*

Problem Solved, big troubling sound culprit comes from the Aztech Home Plug. no use the homeplug, big troubling sound is gone. now left is the small small constant sound sometime.. most time after long hours of usage..

Bad cable management on the Phenom? did you get the version where the PSU bracket cutout is the larger one? the x650 is a modular unit is it not?

and yes, Lucidlts is right about the dust removal wink.gif so far I jusr sweep my Shinobi XL with a paintbrush but time to time will need that damp cloth

Thanks~

Have to cut the front grill a bit to fit in the 240mm rad. Possible to mount another 240mm at the top. But for now, I'd leave it at that.
But then I realised that this case is not totally for wc, as the fan mount got a little offset from each other. Planning to use fan shroud to bypass the mounting issue, but meh, too lazy lol. tongue.gif

yes, it's an air cooling chassis actually and modding is the only way to get 240mm rads on it haha but what happened to the bay res? seems slanted a bit in your picture?? for the front fans, maybe can fit in fan grills?

Miscut a tube by extra 5mm, thus the slanted bay. sweat.gif
Probably will fix it with the next rad upgrade.

For now, planned to use full wire mesh, covering the whole panel. But didn't have much time now.

The Prodigy pictured are mods done by the user, it's not a retail version so you can't buy it directly, but you can try and mod it if you follow the steps as in his worklog

http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?p=3336708

The Pandora, Atlas, Aegis are all still prototypes so ETA is still unknown at the moment, what you can do however is to send feedback to BitFenix HQ, via FB or email to give suggestions on how these chassis in prototype can be improved wink.gif

That will depend on how you look at it actually wink.gif The Shadow, as it's name implies, is very much like the Shinobi that is actually a chassis that's supposed to be subtle yet functional.. difference is that the Shinobi has a windowed side panel while the Shadow has LEDs wink.gif

but then again, nothing is stopping one from modding the shadow wink.gif

The Prodigy M will fit most long cards, so nothing to worry about. Just pick any of your choice.
Mobo wise, it depends on your budget. I'd go for the Maximus Gene VII wub.gif

yes the Gainward GTX760 should be able to fit in the Prodigy-M but do be careful if you're thinking of fitting two of them as you might need to remove the 5.25" bays, single card is no problem at all wink.gif

as for the motherboard, yes the Asus Maximus Gene VII is truly desireable if you have deep pockets lolz but any MATX or MITX mobo will fit, not really a recommendation but generally I'll choose one that has an x1 PCI-e lane on top of the x16 for starters.. other features are just secondary to me wink.gif

oh and a modular PSU like the Silverstone Strider Plus 600W will help with the cable management as well

I'll stick to M.2 compared to Sata express in small form factors, it's just n=more convinient.. as at now mATX mobos that have M.2 slots are

Asus Maximus Gene VII
Asus Z97M Plus
Asus Z97-I Plus
Asus H97M-E
Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5
MSI Z97M Gaming
MSI Z97M G43
MSI H97M G43

can google and look at the specs and layout wink.gif I do like the Z97M Plus actually, Asus really did great with their gold colour this time

if you got your Phenom-M, do send us a picture of your build and I'll get it featured in BitFenix Malaysia FB page wink.gif

Thank you, but I am settled with Prodigy M instead, bought from Ideal Tech outlet last week. It is nice and simple, purchased together with side windows. Removed the 2.5" vertical bay as it obstruct the to the internal view. I am thinking to give it some modification, to shift the 2.5" vertical to front (beside the PSU) as I need my 2 SSDs to be hang up there and 1 HDD at the floor of the case.

erm.. side windows for the Prodigy-M? you mean you bought the Prodigy mITX's side panel? but yeah if you can shift the HDD/SSD bracket then it'll be sweet! just check for clearance wink.gif oh BTW what mobo you're using? cause if its a new build chances are that you can get an M.2 drive to replace your SSDs wink.gif

It is mATX, and according to the youtube, window panel for mITX is little higher compare to mATX which is located lower, must be to view to where the mobo is. Currenty I am using MSI B85M-G43, the 2.5" vertical drive bay is located at the right side, it would be much nicer if we can do something to relocate it to the left side, just to cover the PSU and exposing the mobo.

Prodigy M users, how do you all fit the top fans, air inward or outward? I am using the MSI Twin Frozr GC, I am afraid if pushing the air outward, the air flow will conflicted between these 2 fans. Putting inward likely inviting more dust, but the GPU's temperature improved to below 40°C as opposed to others at more than that.

I believe it is yes, according to the review. Currently I am using the black prodigy m and due to the mesh for air flow, the PSU fan is a bit loud especially when using the PC at late night.

for Prodigy M, Phenom M and Colossus M, the top mesh is for intake and exhaust is through the bottom and back sweat.gif if you have no fans at the bottom, place the magnetic heat shield

That one is Prodigy MITX? because AMD doesn't have MITX mobo

for the MITX version, there are a few, the Korean versions normally will have meshed front panels, doesn't matter black or white, internally, they're the same so every panel made for the prodigy will fit onto another prodigy... not including the MATX versions where the PSU is at the front instead of the bottom

for the MATX versions the PSU is at the front while the MITX versions PSU mount is at the bottom, PSU loudness will depend on the brand and type of fans used in the PSU

QUOTE(Ulysses @ Aug 26 2014, 11:07 AM)

intake for both versions, you may place up to a 230mm fan or 240mm Radiator at the front for the MITX versions while the MATX versions will be intake for the PSU

This one is the Itx version right?? were you trying to secure it using your hand? a screwdriver is recommended there, it's quite a squeeze actually

Its okay. i think it wont be hard anymore. Just now i dissemble all the hardware and when screw in the motherboard, i push a lil bit mobo to the back. It turn up the screw for the pci slot is easier to do. Everything is good. thumbup.gif

I am getting real in love with my Prodigy M, now ppl is going to smaller either mATX or ITX size. I dumped my CM Storm Scout and now is about collecting dust under a bed.

Prodigy M give us much wider than normal casing, definitely I feel the inner space is much spacious and cable management is much easier to manage.
