Scoured entire Low Yat Plaza for Nexus 7 accessories, to no avail. Screen protector-wise, even the Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch SPs are not a good fit for the Nexus 7. The next option, sleeves are nonexistant. Even sleeves that are not particularly made for the Nexus, a general purpose sleeve that fits a 7 inch tablet are not available. Looks like it has to stay naked for the time being.

QUOTE(gin&tonic @ Jul 28 2012, 10:49 PM) yes, i have rooted mine using the Nexus Toolkit, pretty effortless. Better to do it while its new, as the process to unlock the bootloader will wipe your tablet. I have kept the recovery to stock, incase there is a OTA update. So far, i have installed Titanium backup(you can use this to defrost region specific apps such as Play Books, Magazine, Movie. Though you have to have a US VPN to access the contents.)This post has been edited by StormZ: Jul 28 2012, 11:10 PM |

^ I'm thinking of rooting it myself, but I'll give it a couple more weeks so that;
a) I can confirm that the hardware is running fine, since claiming warranty will be harder (impossible) for a rooted device. b) There'll be more custom ROMS out. If I'm lucky, maybe even a CyanogenMod Nightly ... an official one, not that Euroskank crap. c) I can have more time to study the blobs in the new kernel, in order to compile my own. XDA people are great with ROMS, but suck at kernels building/recompiling, since most have them have very little Linux experience prior to Android (I've been using Linux since 1999, so I think I'm qualified to say this), they're all way too heavy-handed and over-optimistic with their scheduling (CFQ/BFQ) and preemption modifications. To be honest, I'm actually quite happy with stock 4.1, but I'll root it eventually to block ads (I have a custom host file) and to change back to "classic" Tablet UI. The current phone UI on the Nexus 7 is good for beginners, but I think the Honeycomb/ICS tablet UI is more elegant. I just hope there's a better way than editing the dpi settings (forcing resolution is problematic). Maybe one of the launchers like Apex, Nova or Trebuchet will incorporate it soon without having , or (if lucky) maybe Google will give us the option to revert back in the next update. I heard they'll still have the traditional tablet layout for upcoming 10" devices running Jelly Bean, so I don't think it would be too hard for them to give us that option in a soft-update.
