Use stock ROM for a week first.
Have a base line how stock rom perform.

Then only you can judge how custom ROM compare to it.

Stock ROM performance is amazing though. Project butter, super smooth

Use this app.

May I know those custom rom contain project butter or not? as mostly didn't mention about it...

Strangely, I just noticed slight lift on the left side of mine as well. It wasn't there when I first got it, so I assume it's a heat issue that caused it. Probably playing too much Dead Trigger. I think Asus didn't apply enough Loctite to the screws during manufacture.

It's hardly noticeable in my case, though. I still opened it up with a guitar pick and checked the screws (opening the case was easier than unboxing, lol). All seemed to be tight, so I loosened all the screws a bit, than then tightened alternately (one on right side, one on left side, repeat).

Looks like new now. Maybe there's a 1mm difference, but I cannot notice.

Other than that, I've had zero problems (touchwood). C70 batch.

I don't think so.

So far I tried one custom ROM which is glazed ROM.
It seems to be based on sgt7 which is based on cm.
Paranoid also based on cm.

Glazed ROM confirm no project butter.
It stutters quite often compare to stock

If wan project butter, choose custom Roms that say they are based on stock ROM.

Try the one Benny recommend. Cna.
Written based on stock ROM.

Dead trigger cause it hot? I play very long also not hot.
My precious Samsung tab and my phone is hotter than nexus 7.
This tab when it gets hot, the glass feels hotter than the back. ,maybe the back is well insulated, not sure if that's a good thing but its comfortable to hold.:-)

I opened my back and try to screw it too. But it was already tighten. Will try our method to loosen and tighten again.

But, did u notice that the back cover and the body will have some space in between after you pop both of them back(after the screw tightening job)? I tried few times to press them intact but there are still some spaces on the top part of the tablet (the front camera side)... Is that just my case? I can't remember is that an original unopened back cover also has space as I am now.

Not really hot. Just slightly warm. Actually, playing OsmosHD makes it warmer than Dead Trigger. Very strange considering how minimalistic OsmosHD looks. sweat.gif I don't have other Android tablets to compare with, but my Galaxy Nexus or the gf's iPad2 definitely gets warmer under load.

Just make sure to be careful when you tighten. The screws look like they'll strip very easily. Also make sure the surface you lay the tablet on is not super smooth (try put a cloth underneath) because when the glass front is rested on a smooth surface it becomes very easy to slip.

Strangely, the gap between the back cover and the body was bigger before I opened and closed it for the first time. Seems like my own assembly method better than Asus multi-million $$ factory. laugh.gif

It's probably different for each person/unit.

In my case, when it first arrived, I noticed that the top left corner had a slightly bigger gap compared to the other 3 corners. After popping it and adjusting the screws, I noticed that that if I closed/snapped the same top left corner last, then the small gap was still there, so I removed the cover again and this time snapped the top left first, and then worked my way around. The gap mysteriously disappeared.

Maybe I should open my own Foxconn. Want to work for me? I'll give you 20 hour shift for minimum wage. tongue.gif

Hey guys, I have been rooting my Nexus 7 few days ago and it seems that there's a problem updating apps from play store. Then i tried to run some apps and it force closes itself.

I thought it was some small issue and therefore I try to restore factory default and it restarted without restoring anything. Then I googled for few hours trying to flash a stock rom and it seems to be not working. It does flashed and I did cache wipe, data wipe etc and reboot into the rom before I restore.

I even tried to lock my bootloader back but it doesn't work. Anyone help please?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have tried both Wugs toolkit(user friendly) and mskip toolkit(command prompt) to flash stock rom.

Let me explain it again. I am having some problem trying to install apps and I thought it would be some rom matter and therefore I tried to do a factory restore. However when i restore it from setting it reboot into CWM recovery (which might because i flashed permanent CWM recovery). After that I tried to flash to stock 4.1.1 rom which i get from official google dev web. By using both of the toolkit i flashed it it seems to be working without error ( there's 3 but i googled it and everybody seems to have it). After finishing the flashing it is suppose to be back to google account setup stuff but it didn't. It actually back to the stage where I have not started flash anything (where the problem remains with everything I installed still there).

Now I can neither flash any rom nor goes back to stock recovery. Is there any method to save it?

PS: In short, Anything I flashed that show flashed successfully actually did not succeed. And back to the stage where I haven't started to flash.

You flash the stock recovery image as a single zip file. Do not extract it. The toolkit will auto extract it. If you read the instructions posted in the pre flash window you will be told which folder in the gnex toolkit folder this stock image be put in
Try again. Flashing back just take under a minute
If you wish to go back to cwm, do it in fastboot mode with tab connected to pc. Select vol up to move to recovery mode n press power

I did flash it as a full zip file without extracting it. But it didn't seems to help at any way.

Did you put the zip file in the correct sub folder of the gnex toolkit folder
It should work seamlessly
I restore it only few days ago using the toolkit just to take some performance stats n compare with cna rom

yes, i did, and everything run flawlessly until it reboots. Do I have to flash TWRP to flash? Coz I'm currently using CWM recovery. If yes, how do I flash TWRP?
